I'm booked on this tour for next month with small group vs. Celebrity Priority Access.  Did you enjoy the itinerary?  I read a review on cruise critic that they didn’t recommend the tour because they only had 2 hours at Sorrento and 2 hours at Pompeii and they spent too much time visiting touristy shops.

We enjoyed it. The shopping time at Pompeii was a little long for us but we were also there during one of the heat waves and so after the tour we were pretty ready to. I guess it depends what you are looking for in Sorrento. We would preferred a little less time there but we also weren’t really shopping, just wandering around.

  2. I’m on a Royal Cruise in January and the flights that made the most sense cost wise was an evening flight. Obviously there is going to be some time to kill. My friends flight is mid afternoon and so I figure we will go to the airport at the same time. Not so concerned about that part. Question is what should we do until then. Saw something about the aquarium but any other ideas? One other note, we are on a budget so hopefully keeping it lower end of costs.

  3. I think what others are saying here is right on. Some of the experiences are changing but I wouldn't say that you would necessarily notice if you are new to Celebrity. The cruise lines are always changing and evolving but I trust the product of the beautiful ships, excellent staff, good food (in my opinion from my last cruise), and a relaxing atmosphere. No guarantees of course, but I think a positive attitude will take you a long way. Plus, for good reason, folks are more likely to bring their complaints than their good times so take it all with a grain of salt as well.

  4. So I posted this here yesterday and they moved it because I guess they thought it was just a general question. To be clear, I am talking about your perfect sea day onboard Celebrity Cruises.

Since I posted a complaint about all the complaints I thought I should tare my own advice and start something more positive and productive. What is your perfect sea day? As the starter of the post this IS NOT to complain about what is not a perfect sea day but rather,  what is your perfect sea day, real or imagined.

My perfect sea day starts with a leisurely wake up with coffee arriving shortly after to sip while I get ready for the day. Then head up to breakfast in the OVC to leisurely eat and enjoy. Maybe grab a mimosa as well to start the day in a good mood. From there, depending on the climate it is finding some place to enjoy the sun. Close enough that I can get in the pool if I want to cool off or even to sitting with my feet in the water while reading and listening to music. From there it will be a leisurely lunch and maybe a nap or spending some time on the veranda enjoying the sea air with a coffee or cocktail. Maybe catch a movie or head out to the pool again. Then it is time to clean up the sweat and sunscreen and get ready for the evening. Grab a drink or two before dinner and then enjoy my dinner. End the night with a nightcap and maybe check out whatever entertainment might be happening before retiring for the evening. That sounds just about perfect to me.

    Thanks for acknowledging my thread.

Truth be told, I am a big fan of Celebrity and cruise at least once a year on Celebrity (usually we do 2X a year).  It’s usually Celebrity or Princess but lately we’ve been more Celebrity for a couple of reasons.

My intent was not to promote complaining but to get a statistical view of what most people had concerns with.  I like data and statistics and think this is what shows collective concerns and influences the cruise companies.

I can’t prevent people from posting rants or complaints but I had hoped to create constructive feedback on the bigger issues.

My only regret on that thread is that I didn’t add a “No concerns” option in the voting.

I honestly think most of who visit and post on the Celebrity thread are probably fans as well but all are in shock of the post Covid cruising world and express it in different ways.

PS - did you notice I didn’t add cookies or whole tomatoes to the list? 😂

I apologize if I seemed like I was attacking. I actually love data too and that is a fair question. I had just posted my post when I saw yours and I believe I made have made some assumptions. I apologize.  See we can get along!

Surely all these complaints are the company's fault. It's a death by a thousand cuts.

Cruising was never cheap, but now they have taken fees to the next level and charge for a million things. At the same time, staffing is down, auto-gratuities increase all the damn time, and quality goes down across the board.

At this point, I can stay seven days at a top-notch Four Seasons resort for the price of a one-week cruise in Aqua Class.

Sure. The cruise line is making choices and people are reasonable to not like them. But I am pointing out the negative turn of this board and the way some things just seem to be harped to death. People are upset, but do we really need 15 pages of comments to complain about $2 cookies? People are allowed to complain, but are we not allowed to ask us to be better? Nobody has to listen to me and my feelings wont be hurt, but I may just stop coming here cause I come here to dream about my next vacation and not to be demoralized by constant complaining.

This is new and fast to loyal. celebrity people. So yes, we are going to point out what is changing rapidly and not for the better.  Rather like Buyer Beware.

Also not sure what qualifies one a “loyal celebrity people” but I worked for Celebrity and pretty much exclusively cruise with them if we are cruising and I pick the cruise.

I don’t think he is blaming CC posters at all, the number of duplicate threads and continuous gripes is tedious. I loved this board as a new cruiser as I got great tips, now if I was thinking about cruising and dropped in here I would be deterred from doing it and would miss out on a treat.

This is exactly what I am getting at.

it is t just “the cookie thing”.  Please read some of the posts that list the changes that have come about, some quickly:  ie. reduction in quality of meats/fish, reduction of menu items, reduction of items/amenities, charging for what used to be included and what you paid for in your fee.    As I posted earlier, to keep relegating this to a “cookie thing” as some are doing, is NOT just we who have cruised Celebrity are saying.   You cannot claim to be a Premium line while you reduce the product and raise prices

This is new and fast to loyal. celebrity people. So yes, we are going to point out what is changing rapidly and not for the better.  Rather like Buyer Beware.

I recognize it is more than a “cookie thing” I really meant that as an example but also that there were two posts about it on the first page. I meant it a representative example.

Yes, because up until now it was basically the suite level that was seeing the changes. The cookie thing is the first to impact us with an inside view. The mdr wasn't what it used to be in February, but the food was good. I tried to be honest in my review for both my X and HAL cruises this year.

And to be fair I appreciate a fair and honest review even when the experience isnt great. But I also see a difference between a hard review and just the negativity. Go to the first page and count the number of complaints. That is what I am talking about.

  13. How many threads can we start in a single day complaining about everything we hate about Celebrity? I think we can break our previous record of….

Seriously though, I used to enjoy coming here to read actual cruise reviews or to find tips for my next cruise or ask a question that I didnt know the answer to. Lately however it seems like three or four threads a day complaining. I get it, people are upset but really. I mean the cookie thing has at least two threads complaining about it and beyond one ship it hasn’t been rolled out fleet wide. Again I get it people are upset, but I see people talking about reconsidering cruises after reading what folks are posting here. Anyone else feeling the weight of the negativity?

Well no need for you to take a collection for them cause they have done that for themselves.  They have had $900. from me since the beginning of the year.  They have canceled 2 cruises and been deceitful about what they were offering as far as the AI which they cancelled and the OBC they took back.  One can only conclude that they did this to hold $ and make interest off the $.  Stop pleading their case as they have none for the way they have conducted this.  They have destroyed trust and goodwill!

Like I said at the beginning. Not defending the decisions, just looking at some of the data behind the decisions. I am not asking for the collection plate to be passed, I am booked on another cruise with them in March and that is how you support a product you like and do the opposite if it isnt. I am sorry you had a bad experience and it is understandable to walk away. I get it.

I rounded it off to two years,  i believe the actual time was 15 to 18 months.   Still a long time with little revenue coming in.    Here is a link that gives all the dates of activity or lack thereof during the pandemic. https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwj8vpry6uyAAxXemIkEHZCVBuUQFnoECBYQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fcruiseradio.net%2Ftimeline-2020-cruise-ship-industry-shutdown%2F&usg=AOvVaw2f4HkehWIjZZMp8bzWvtP0&opi=89978449

They also may not have been completely shutdown but sailing half empty ships does not bring in the revenue that to be profitable. It literally just kept the ships sailing and some cash flow. And our last cruise in July 2022 and even then it was still only 2/3 full.
