  1. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before. If so, I have missed it.

While checking availability and pricing on Cunard's U.S. web site (cunard.com) for a crossing on QM2 in 2017, I was presented with this "Holiday note" (emphasis mine).

    CANCELLATION POLICY REMINDER

Please note that some of our cancellation policies have changed; please review the cancellation schedule on your booking confirmation.
Cancellation fees will now begin 30 days prior to your final payment date.
CunardCare may be purchased until the day before the cancellation schedule begins. CunardCare cancellation coverage goes into effect upon payment; all other benefits begin at time of departure. For the plan to be active at the time of booking deposit, the plan cost must be paid in full in addition to the booking deposit amount. A complete plan description for CunardCare, detailing terms, conditions and exclusions, may be viewed at:

I have not yet found the new cancellation schedule showing cancellation fees beginning 30 days prior to the final payment date. This new cancellation policy appears to apply to voyages after the 2017 world voyages.

This is about Insurance, Not about any changes to booking a Cruise.
  2. Thanks for that. We'll aim to be there before noon!
I recommend that you use the assisted boarding as they will take your Mother on-board which is very welcome as its a long walk uphill they will take her right to her cabin if you ask them
  3. On the drinks front. We're in a Q3 Royal suite on the Queen Mary 2 and it states complimentary drinks, does this mean literally any drinks? Or do we get first bottle free and the rest get paid for??

My Mum and I don't drink much but I don't to be surprised by hefty charges ony CC.

    Thanks

No it does not mean any drink Your Butler will give you a list of the Drinks that are included
  4. Hello. This in my first post so please be gentle.

I'm taking my Mum who is 90 on her first ( and last) cruise as she has dementia .

We are in Queens Grill cabins and have been told 12:30 embarkation. Should we turn up earlier due to her being in a wheelchair? For security or will 12:30 be ok??

    Thanks 😃

You have 2 points in your Favour, I you are Queens Grill & they are the 1st Group to board 2 Wheelchairs assistance also board just after Grills & Grills normally board at Noon So I would plan on boarding at noon.
  5. They do my Button Hole on a regular basis So I see no reason why they can not make something similar for you, Phone the Florist when you are onboard

  6. 1.5–2 oz white rum (depending on how strong you want it

1 oz cucumber-cilantro syrup* Frozen cucumber and lime slices Crushed ice Club soda Instructions

Fill an old-fashioned glass one-quarter full of crushed ice. Then add the cucumber-cilantro syrup and rum.

Top off with club soda. Put in frozen cucumber and lime slices. Garnish with lime slice and sprig of cilantro. *Cucmber-cilantro syrup Ingredients: ½ cup fresh cilantro ½ cup sugar ½ cup water juice of 1 lime ¼ of a medium cucumber, chopped

  7. Your Daughter is Allergic to Nuts & their by Products & the only place that she will be able to Eat with a high level of Safety will be your allotted Restaurant All other outlets including Room service will have a high risk of X contamination as they do not have a separate preparation area.

  8. Cunard use what they call Green Dry Cleaning which really means that a Washing Machine process is used, If you have any Natural fibres clothing DONT USE IT, On the Q.E. I saw a Gentleman's Dinner Suit that had been ruined by this Process. It was made of Cashmere but had a Nylon type lining the Suit had Shrunk But the Lining had not, Result Lining 2 inches up on the outside at the Cuffs

  9. Just wondering is this a sticker on your card, a special cup, or even both?

    Thanks.

QM2 if it makes a difference.

A small Sticker is placed on your Card. Special cup not a Ghost of a chance we are writing about Cunard Line not Disney Line
  10. You can get orange juice, lemonade, cranberry juice and iced tea free from the buffet all day so unless you want different don't really think the drinks package is worth the money.
That depends on a individuals needs, I do not drink Alcohol & 6/10 soft drinks per day is my norm. I spend a lot of my cruise by the pool or on the Sun decks & its a lot easier & convenient for me to order a drink from the deck Waiters than for me to have to walk to the buffet to get it.
  11. Which Ship are you considering as the Q.M.2 layout is different to the Q.E.. The allotted Table is yours for all meals & the Dinning times are the same as the Grills. The Q.V. Has not yet any Club Dinning but she will have in the future .

  12. Is it worth it!! Of course it is. Any reason to take a Cunard cruise is worth it don't dither book it as the 1st of what I believe will be one of many future cruises with Cunard.

  13. I would think that on a Saver Fare you have very little chance of getting a table for 2 as those that have paid the Cunard Fare have Priority on them, As your Wife wants plain food I would not dismiss the Lido completely as there you have more selections of dishes available & portion size is up to you. The Veranda Restaurant is far from plain food as its French

  14. Thank you so much again everyone.

Very helpful tips for arrival and the perks on board. Am very excited now. :-)

My mum was a tad miffed about the cocktail party. Haha. But she'll be thrilled that I can take her along. Am sure she won't need to fight it out with my dad over who else goes as he would be quite happy seeing us at the dinning room and having an hour or so to himself haha :-)

The officers Drinks party are often held at 11.00 so your dad will have to go to the Pub instead
  15. Cunard Website

I agree the website has been down too long for this day and age.

They would learn a lot from the excellent Princess website which is generally easy to

navigate and importantly allows you to select your cabin with ease from displayed

diagrams from different sections of the ship.

Will Cunard take up this type of website ?

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

Cunard UK & Princess both use the same Mainframe Computer along with P&O UK, Its just each company uses different Software
  16. I wonder if that is the same blog as I look at now and again?

    Certainly different.

Yes it is the same Blog, Considering that its the 1st time that he has done a Blog he is doing well, Its also the 1st time that he has sailed with Cunard & he picked a Complete World Cruise to do it shows that he has Wisdom.
