  1. We are also on this cruise and have embarked in Civitavecchia many times. RomeCabs is who we use each and everytime. I believe it was 130 euros paid to driver per vehicle., not per person. They are very reliable and have a website with online booking and quick written confirmation. Boarding has been starting at 2 pm recently so I would aim for noon checkout from hotel and approx 90 minutes travel (often quicker). Hope this helps.

    Coming Back

    You are so right about variables between ships. We were on Reflection in October and described the experience as "beige", not horrible but nothing to excite us which us what we are looking for when on holiday. A truly mass market experience to be sure. Even Azamara offers a different vibe depending upon itinerary, cruise director and senior staff. One thing that remains consistent though is friendliness and service from the entire ship. There are always lots of smiles and they can't do enough for you...something that is desperately lacking on Celebrity and other larger ships.

    You may want to read the ongoing complaints on the very recent Celebrity boards before you lump them in the same category. There are many cost saving, revenue building downgrades in service and food which have guests very upset. After many, many Celebrity cruises we have no interest in booking based on these reports. We loved our Azamara cruises and only pray these sorts of issues won't begin on Azamara too. Onward was our most recent cruise.

    We also attended this event and the stadium seating was less than ideal for those with mobility issues. There were places to stand at ground level though. You will be required to walk 5 minutes down the pier to board a bus for a very short transfer to the stadium. It was a festive Caribbean event , but in my opinion could have easily been done onboard.
  5. Just reading your question regarding Quarterly Savings here in Canada. I went onto Azamara site and inserted quarterly savings into question bar and the entire list becomes available for sailings January through March 31st, 2023. Try it this way and good luck.

    Staying in Mestre

    We stayed there a few years ago and found it to be a charming place to visit with lots of restaurants and shops and a wonderful town square. Transport by cab was simple into Venice to start our cruise. We would definitely stay there again in preference to Venice and since we have had that pleasure on two other visits we wouldn't feel cheated.
  7. My thought would be to measure the words in each review carefully in terms of what is important to you and if the negative remarks are unusual. There are numerous posters on here who have travelled with Azamara many times over the years and keep coming back. There is a reason for that. There are also posts of those who try it once and find out Azamara doesn't suit them at all. That is to be expected as well. To each their own. An older ship doesn't bother us in exchange for the warm welcoming service, excellent dining , fabulous itineraries and a more boutique cruise experience offered by Azamara over the years. Hopefully you find the cruise experience that is important to you.

    We do the same by always packing an Azamara bag. The old style ones were lovely with a leather like handle and full zipper. I will definitely be bringing ours along next trip.

  11. Never hurts to ask. We had our already generous obc increased to the reflect the new Black Friday offer of 1000. no issues whatsoever. Not sure about your flights situation though. I would think any good agent should at least make the effort. Good luck.
  12. We just did this 2 weeks ago as we were staying at a b&b type accommodation. 25.00 taxi fee right next to the ship. We hailed one on the street but we were sure to ask if he could enter the port. Best money ever spent.
  13. Rome Cabs! We have used them many times over the years and they offering amazing, reliable service. Our arrival flight was 2 hours late but the driver was waiting patiently for us and we were whisked away in comfort. Airport to port 140.00 euros. Online booking form and quick booking confirmation.

This app has had issues since we were caught up in it returning from Europe last October. No progress is being made as far as I'm concerned if Canadians are treated as criminals when returning home. If they can't get it right....give it up and put their manpower into fixing the messed up passport debacle. Enough is enough.
  15. Unfortunately this may be more about pier side testing and processing than Azamara. We were delayed boarding in Athens in October, but after one hour on the ship we forgot all about it and we were ready to enjoy our long awaited vacation. A necessary part of travel is Airports and cruise terminals....

  17. Unfortunate that this wasn't discovered preboarding as I'm sure it was a negative distraction while onboard. It is conceivable that you may have booked at the last minute rate which comes without the onboard and is the lowest rate. I have had to be extra careful while checking rates online but always use an agent to make the final booking thus having confirmation, a paper trail and someone able to do battle on my behalf should I need assistance. I certainly hope you are able to find a favorable answer to your query soon. Good luck!

  20. Are we to assume you are a travel agent rather than a consumer? Makes a huge difference in perspective in my opinion.
  21. In my opinion one has to also consider the "point is" to increase sales in an environment of cancelations and travellers sitting on the fence due to this persistent covid situation. Celebrity has often flip flopped on many issues and I think this cruise only rate is just another way for them to appeal to a wider market share. When comparing Celebrity to others we have found them to be vastly overpriced with all of the inclusions and I welcome being able to compare them and decide what works best for me without all the hype and smoke and mirrors pricing. For the record, I do not consider myself a "penny pincher" but rather a savvy consumer trying to make an intelligent decision. Let's see how this plays out.
