  1. if you can't find something you like on the main MDR menu or the vegetarian menu, including the "staples" of simple fish, steak, or chicken, then perhaps you might find something to your liking in the Pinnacle Grill or one if the other specialty restaurants, or the Lido.
  2. That scooter supports different types of batteries, and often SLA (sealed lead-acid) ones. Ideally, you should be able to look at the battery label for information specific to your battery. You may need to open the battery pack to access the batteries themselves. You may need a Phillips head screwdriver that ia especially long.
  3. Princesses ' contract of carriage includes the following text: You may take a reasonable amount of luggage on board containing only Your personal effects, which shall include suitcases, trunks, valises, satchels, bags, hangers containing clothing, toiletries and other personal effects necessary for the Cruise.... Carrier does not undertake to carry as baggage any tools of trade, household goods, fragile or valuable items, precious metals, jewelry, documents, negotiable instruments or other valuables, including but not limited to those specified in section 30503 of Title 46 of the United States Code. That would seem to both limit the quantity and content of what you wish to transport. Safe Travels!
  4. Stairs aren't exactly accessible.
  5. And the stair in the hydrotherapy pool in the spa is the best on the ships, by far!
  6. There are few, if any, "low cost" wheelchair-accessible taxis on any Caribbean island, and generally very few accessible taxis, period. Most public buses. where they exist, do not offer wheelchair-accessible services. Grand Turk is fairly accessible. There is a tour tram that has a ramp for wheeled visitors. Margaritaville does not. however, have a beach or pool wheelchair available. Aruba. Bonaire. and Curaçao have wheel-accessible areas available straight offf the ship. There are a couple of accessible taxis at Aruba. It's best to reserve for the day or half-day or make a specific arrangement in advance. Nassau has not been especially wheelchair friendly. There is a new port area, however, that may be more accessible.
  7. There's no beach provided for Neptune Suite guests, but they are welcome to use the beach used by the others on the ship.
  8. At least one of the rental companies (SNAS or scootaround, I think) has historically had on-shore pickup and drop-off for wheelchairs and scooters as an option in Port Everglades. It can make embarking and disembarking much faster/simpler.
  9. What is your plan for managing getting. around the ship? Are you bringing your own wheelchair or scooter? Are you renting one? If so, is it being delivered to your cabin, or are you picking it up at the terminal? Did you reserve an accessible cabin? The ship does not have wheelchairs that you can borrow for regular use.
  10. Do you use a power (Quantum, Permobil, or similar) or manual wheelchair? Are you capable of transfers to a regular car seat or do you need a vehicle that can accommodate you while you remain in your wheelchair? Are you prepared to spend $200-500 per day for private tours/vehicles that can accommodate you, your equipment, and 2-3 guests? I cannot recommend any NCL cruise that stops at Great Stirrup Cay, their private island. GSK is a beautiful island but is not wheelchair accessible. They use tenders that function like landing craft and let people off directly onto the beach. There is no dock, per se.
  11. Hey- some of my friends are, literally, the band from steerage in Titantic, aka Gaelic Storm!
  12. More likely to be aluminum. The shape may vary. A number of companies have released aluminum or alloy bottles that closely resemble the shape of traditional glass bottles. They obviously do not feel the same.
  13. There is a major push towards aluminum cans. They're much happier on a ship- no glass breakage, easily compressed as waste.
  14. No. There are rarely large crowds where finding space is a problem. Maybe it gets busy when there are 2 Pinnacle-class ships at the island on a beautiful day.
  15. Yes, you can return it to Budget's Port E location (https://maps.app.goo.gl/YJSSkYv7GN1yeRTQ7?g_st=ic) if that's the location you selected when making the reservation (or adjusted at car pickup). It is NOT safely walkable. A free shuttle is normally provided. I would drop the rest of the party and luggage at the terminal and then drop the car- that's our regular course of business.
  16. The airport is probably the closest in Honolulu. There was another location a bit to the east but is now closed.
  17. And on the Pinnacle ships, CO does not have that view. 🙂
  18. While it was a number of years ago, we typically rented through Avis or Alamo, always reserving well in advance (I was a very special Alamo customer back in the day). There was shuttle pickup at all ports- we were always one of the first 3 couples ashore (our choice to maximize the day). Shuttles were usually 15-24 people vans, some with lifts, some not. For those without lifts or stairs I couldn't manage, we usually sent my wife to pick up the car and come back for me. On car drop off, we often asked for a rental car staff member to drive us to the port in the vehicle we'd rented to limit the need for another transfer or because of bus accessibility. A smile and happy attitude worked wonders, usually. We always got the car model we wanted from Alamo, but realized that there might have been a substitute- that was part of the benefit of the special status with Alamo. Our status sadly went away after Alamo merged more deeply with Enterprise. Bring your disabled parking placard- if it is US-issued, it is valid in Hawaii. Realize there is heavy demand for accessible parking, especially near Pearl Harbor.
  19. There are charges for alcoholic beverages., sodas,, and coffee drinks. As noted, HIA can be used. No charge for foodstuffs.
  20. You could hire a driver and go to Everglades Holiday park. Much closer to the airport, there are canoe and kayak rentals at West Lake where you can explore the mangroves at Ann Kolb Nature Center. You could also explore Fairchild Tropical Gardens. For a rain plan. the Miami Science Museum or tfe Museum of Discovery and Science are both "inside" opportunities. MoDS is 15 minutes from FLL airport. Also outdoor, you could explore Fort Lauderdale on the Water Taxi. You might get a "day room" at the Hilton Marina, giving you an alternative to asking the bell stand to hold bags and give you a place for a quick change begore your flights. A water taxi stop is about 100 feet from the hotel entrance. The hotel is 12 minutes from the Fort Lauderdale airport. Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor is 7 minutes south of FLL airport on US-1/Federal Highway (and on the way to the airport from West Lake). Jaxson's is a real treat- the hotdogs and hamburgers are large and the i e cream is larger. You can get the original Kitchen Sink bowl.
  21. It takes about 4 hours in "normal" daylight driving to get from Miami to Key West with minimal stopping. But there is alot to see, both in terms of specific places such as Bahia Honda State Park and John Pennecamp. which is an underwater park. The Miami-Key West drive is not really a drive one should do at dark, at least not as a first-time visitor. My guess is that you'd be on the road at 4:30 or so if your flight landed at 3 and you need to clear customs/immigration and pick up a car. It is not the easiest drive in the sense there will be traffic to contend with. Ehile ig is the Keys Highway, if is not typical US highway driving. It is, however, a generally pretty straight road. As some alternatives, you could visit Fairchild Tropical Gardens in Miami, take a day trip into the Everglades, and/or explore other parts of South Florida. You could also take the Brightline train to Orlando and visit Mickey Mouse, Sea Eorld, and/of Universal Studios. Any/all might be very attractive to an eight year old. You had also asked about a part-day trip before your return trip. The issue is that the airports want international travelers at the airport 3 hours before the scheduled flight time to clear outbound immigration. It doesn't often rake that long, but they don't want people missing flights because they gave bad advice. And if is true that it CAN and sometimes does take the full tome, especially if there are many people and/or there are individuals that have problems that take time to sort out. Again, there are lots of things to do/see, if only for a few hours. The larger issue is what to do with luggage. If you are on an excursion/transfer from the ship, the luggage will often go under the bus. Dome cruise lines offer baggage transfer service separately. Third-party companies that provide day tours can also accommodate your luggage. Most attractions do not have short-term parcel storage. There are a couple of places that specialize in holding your luggage for a few hours. Safe travels!

  23. There is nothing like a cafe anywhere close to any of the terminals in Port Everglades. I am not aware of any public restrooms that are accessible from outside the terminal buildings. You may be able to stay in the terminal building for awhile, but am unsure about what you can do with your luggage. There is some limited seating, similar to an airport lounge, in a lobby area. You might ask your bus company what they recommend.
  24. My apologies- I inadvertently flipped the gender of the individual.
  25. You might think of also taking a picture of him every morning after dressing. That way, you have a very current photo to help in finding him if you were to get separated. While neither my spouse nor I have mental difficulties, each of us has a disability with obvious manifestations. On several HAL cruises (smaller than the Pinnacle ships), the ship's crew recognized our being a couple and for the rest of the cruise, if we were separated, we usually got an update about where the other person was, in case we were looking for them.
