I guess like every other customer service location its who you get on the other end of the phone. I had a wonderful pre-concierge experience for our Feb cruise and the representative couldn't have been more helpful. She changed our existing reservation, took my requests-fridge emptied, soy milk, iced tea and apple juice for my son and memory foam pillows. I was actually pleasantly surprised it was all done when we arrived in our cabin.

Will be traveling on the breakaway in just under two weeks... With the new room service charge, are you allowed to order takeout from O'Sheehan's? Call ahead???
Thoughts???
We've gotten take out before wings and fries at 1am, sent hubby down no problem at all, never called ahead though

We were at Coki in Feb and had a great time, no vendors that I can recall. We rented lounge chairs and an umbrella and were assigned a waitress for drinks and food.
-
We had 22 to 36 ft waves in Feb leaving for the Carribean worst we've ever had. I used bonine and we were fine, started the night before we left so were prepared when we hit the rough stuff

The MDR's Taste, Savor and Manhattan room plus the buffet and O'Sheehans are free. The restaurants with a service charge are Tappenayki, Noodle Bar, Cagneys, LeBistro, Moderno, La Cucina, and Ocean Blue. Think I got them all
I love Moderno and LeBistro, DH loves Cagney and DS loves Tappenyaki

Yes we have done it in the past when my parents have cruised with us or when we are dining with friends onboard.
I usually make sure I add a little extra to his tip at the end of the cruise for him as well for his help.

Just got back from the Breakaway on Feb 13th and I can say you are going to love the Haven. My Dh and I had breakfast in the restaurant every morning but two, those two days were early excursions so our butler delivered it to our cabin. Never had a bad meal, love the waffles and the buffet with the fresh chopped mixed fruit. They also had a chef by the pool each morning slicing up fresh fruit. You can have your breakfast by the pool and choose from the full breakfast menu.
Lunch pool menu is smaller then the restaurant menu and is the same for the entire cruise. As is the dinner menu but they do offer specials each night
Also don't be afraid to ask for something, they will go find it for you.
You daytime bartender will be Deepak, he is excellent, as is the entire staff in the Haven. You will not be disappointed. Deepak makes an awesome Bahama mamma and a dirty banana. Tell him Dennise said hello!

Yes he is on the Breakaway we had him for our Feb 1st cruise and had the chance to talk with him a few times.

Yep lost my 2 who were wonderful, after the last one left moved my reservation to a TA.
-
Did it a few years ago and had a great time, perfect weather sunny and warm. I want to say it took about 45 mins to get there and had plenty of time on the beach to enjoy the water and drink painkillers.

Long weekend to get back together? lol I bet they will be doing their homework on the last minute.
He's usually done almost all by the time we get home, I'm very strict about having downtime during the cruise to work on it. Thirty minutes a day is usually enough though he's getting older and the work is getting harder.
He actually comes home to a weekend of basketball games, that should be fun after a 12 day cruise

Pre concierge desk said today Adrian will be our concierge Sunday when we board. Guess we'll find out in 5 more days
-
That's just odd....because Adrian told me himself he was joining BA on the 17th. Unless they've got them both working together....
I'm of course crossing my fingers that Adrian stays on GA for at least 3 more weeks. :)
.
I spoke with the pre-concierge desk today and they said Adrian will be the concierge when we sail Feb 1st

We are in NJ and our district is on a 4 day weekend 13th-16th, we come back on the 13th and my son has a long weekend to get himself back together!
-
I'm interested as well, my 13 yr old boy thinks exactly like your 14 yr old boy.
My concern is he's an only child so would be doing these things by himself. He never really enjoyed kids club and I was so hoping this year he would find something to keep his interest besides the basketball court

Great review, thank you so much for all the info. We are doing the same trip Feb 1st, this is our 1st time on such a large ship, I like the smaller ones, so I've been alittle nervous. Sounds like I have nothing to be nervous about and am really looking forward to sailing now!

Specialty restaurants need to be paid at the time you book online also.
That's probably the one part I don't like, we get 2 free dinners for 2 for being platinum and they cannot be booked until we board. Oh well its freestyle just go with the flow. Atleast I'm sailing and not cooking!
-
Tortola we had a great day at Jost Van Dyke, make sure you try the painkillers.
St Maarten, I didn't care for Maho, but my son and husband enjoyed it for the planes. Last year we took the water taxi over and sat at the beach across from the port, it was a relaxing day with plenty of bars and restaurants. This trip we are trying Orient

We sailed the Jewel our first NCL cruise, she's what got us hooked. Of course he sister the Pearl is our favorite, but Jewel runs a close 2nd

We booked with Royston and his cousin Ashton was our driver on both our previous stops to St Kitts
The first trip we did the full island tour and it was 6 of us, the 2nd trip we did a private beach day and it was 9 of us.
It's going to depend on the number of ships in port on the day you arrive. Our upcoming trip there is only our ship and he wanted 8 which I was able to get and we are again just doing a few beaches and Ashton will be our driver
It does take Royston a few days to get back to you so don't be worried if you don't hear from him right away. Its just him, he's on island time

Does anyone know what happened to Richard Matic? He was my all-time favorite and I saw him on The Sun last spring. Did he leave NCL? He was known for saying, "And now it's time for a story..." or something like that.
The Sun update Mary posted was from October, and last I heard he was still on the Sun. He may have been on vacation at that time.
We had him 2 years in a row on the Sun and absolutely loved him. My son can be shy and he had him up on the stage dancing during the White Hot Party.

Thanks for all the info! We are taking our first cruise out of NY on the Breakaway Feb 1st. We've always sailed out of Miami so this will be new for us, looking forward to the change though

30 days until we board the Breakaway
IMPORTANT - Pearl - VIRUS
in Norwegian Cruise Line
Posted
The nero/gastro virus is running rampant right now, not just on cruise ships. My son's school had over 30 kids out sick with it Wednesday and another 20 or so sent home during the day. Its an extremely nasty 24 hr virus trust me I know since despite the hand washing and cleaning my house with bleach I still picked it up Friday night.
Bright side I needed to lose a few pounds for my cruise in 3 weeks, just didn't want to do it that way
