  1. Your point is well taken, but I think that under maritime law we are obliged to provide assistance to ships who put out a mayday call, so I am not sure the captain really has a choice.
  2. Captain Hoyt said we may be a bit late getting in to Southampton, but he is clearly trying to make up for lost time as we speed through the storm 🙂
  3. Both people on board were safely transferred to a French helicopter, and as the sailboat was already taking water, I assume that it will be sinking soon. We are underway again, and heading for Southampton.
  4. We are currently stopped in very windy weather to assist a sail boat in distress. I am sure they are really glad that we are here, it looks nasty out there!
  5. The corridor doors to the staterooms are closed near to the C lifts on decks 5, 6, and 7 on the aft starboard side, so I am assuming that's the area set aside for isolation. I have not heard of anyone being called to return to their stateroom immediately, so hopefully they are not in use at the moment.
  6. I am ever hopeful that Cunard will do the right thing! Even if they don't it's so wonderful to be back on board :). QV is waiting for you!
  7. We are thinking about this one too. Love the itinerary 🙂
  8. Clarolyn is the pianist in the Commodore Club in the evenings. Dragana and Chris are in the future voyages sales office.
  9. I can second that - it is all looking pretty good. Everyone - staff and guests alike -seem to be very happy to be back on board again 🙂 My thoughts are at whereissafarigal.com
  10. Thanks - we are not sure what happened and why the suitcases aren't on board - but that's life I suppose. Luckily I have all of my hair equipment in my carry on bag - just in case of this kind of emergency!
  11. Cunard had been storing our suitcases in Southampton after we disembarked from Queen Mary 2, and they should have been transferred to Queen Victoria yesterday. Unfortunately the suitcases only got as far as Ocean Terminal, and were not delivered to the ship. We hope to see them again when we get to Barcelona on June 10th!
  12. Thanks for the Bon Voyage messages. All is well on Queen Victoria, except our luggage didn't make it's way on to the ship, and is still in the Ocean Terminal in Southampton. It will be joining us in Barcelona. We were treated to the Imperial Military Band giving us a recital by the Lido pool before sail away, so we all stood there in the drizzle with a glass of champagne in one hand, waving our little flags in the other, as they played good patriotic music. At the end we gave 3 cheers to Her Majesty. The Red Arrows had to cancel their planned fly over due to the weather, It's good to be back on board 🙂
  13. We are on the QV June 5th voyage and only got our stateroom allocation 2 days ago 🙂
  14. Campbell was playing in the Commodore Club on QM2 earlier this month 🙂
  15. We flew to New York from Portland. On the day of our flight we did a self test at home, just in case it came back positive and there would be no point flying to New York. Phew, the tests were negative, so off we went to the airport and did an official rapid antigen test at the airport testing site - it was sponsored by Carbon health. We had made an appointment beforehand, so it was very easy to just walk up, get our noses and lower brain probed, and we had the results by email in a few minutes. We flew to New York, and printed up the results in the business center at our hotel. It was all quite simple. The agent in Brooklyn seemed quite OK with the print out of the results. We had hoped to do the testing at our local Walgreens, but they only did PCR testing, not rapid antigen.
