Any recommendations for hotels near the cruise terminal? I stayed at one before that was within walking distance of the hotel & had a shuttle to the cruise terminal. Any suggestions appreciated. Tom😀

I’ve lived in San Francisco since 1967 & the pier 35 terminal is used for other events & they have bathrooms there as I’ve used them many times. I’ve been hearing this many times that people are being told no bathrooms inside & there are bathrooms just inside the door to the terminal. How could they have events there with no bathrooms? Someone needs to make a formal complaint with the port authority & post their response. Tom😀

Your ship had to go to Pier 35 because the Majestic is too big for pier 35. When there is a large & small cruise ship in San Francisco pier 35, which is our old cruise terminal, has to be used. Tom😀

I agree. I knew of 2 agents that had a Guarantee but my regular agent had more OBC. Since I’ve never had a guarantee I’m real curious to see what I get. I currently in a deluxe balcony so at least that will be fine. I’ve looked at the deck plans & some balconies are bigger than the normal that I’ve had. Tom😀

Thanks. I’m aware of the process & am hoping that I get upgraded to a mini suite or higher as after 36 cruises with Princess I should have earned something. I’m not in a position to ask for a stateroom but I would consider the bidding process once I’m assigned a stateroom. Tom😀

I have a guarantee for my 1st time as the cruise was sold out. If you’ve had one before how soon before the cruise were you notified? Once I’m notified I wonder if I’ll be allowed to bid for a higher category? What do others think? Tom😀

With any OBC that I won’t use I load the $ amount onto my account in the casino & cash it out. It’s easy to do & I’ve never had any problems with refundable & non refundable credit. Tom😀

I counted 4 blocks to fishermans wharf. A short walk you will see our Muni F line which will take to & from Pier 39 which is a great place to visit. See my photo. The F line will also take you to downtown San Francisco where we have a mall on Market street & Macy’s near by. I use either UBER/LYFT vs a taxi as it’s usually cheaper especially if a lot of traffic. Any other questions please ask. Tom😀

Cruising from San Francisco many times, I live here, I’ve never seen the arrival time in-forced or checked. FYI…I choose to not want to deal with long check-in lines, if that happens, so I’m outside the terminal by 9:30 am & am usually one of the first group of people into the terminal, usually around 10 am after the ship is cleared. I then have a good place to sit down & am ready when the boarding is started. Another plus is hopefully I can drop of any carryon & enjoy the ship & get ready for the MDR lunch at 12 noon. Hopefully my bags might arrive sooner as they were checked in real early. Staying at a hotel near the cruise terminal, Fisherman’s Wharf, will hopefully avoid any traffic problems getting to the ship. Hope these tips are helpful. Tom😀

You are correct about your credit card being charged. A credit card is required if you want to make a bid. If your bid is excepted your card is charged. I have had an upgrade bid excepted only bidding the minimum & that’s exactly how it happened. I have a guarantee cruise for next year & after final payment I may look 👀 at the bidding costs. Of course there’s always a chance I could get an upgrade from Princess, especially if they don’t have any staterooms in my category. Tom😀

I would bring a small plastic container from home to use if needed. That way your covered. ‘Tom😀

From my experience after 35 cruises on Princess I would use 7:30 pm as the start time & plan to arrive by 7 pm to get a good seat. Tom😀
