The Mr. had the seafood spaghetti (must have been mention of scallops since we know he can’t pass them up – ever) which shocked him a little when he saw the whole crayfish just lying there on top, looking at us ever so sadly. We shielded Florence’s eyes from that horrific scene. It was another big course for him to manage, with a finger bowl to clean up with after!

That looks like langoustines, not crayfish. They are considered a delicacy.

    See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nephrops_norvegicus

They are very tasty, but really hard to get at the meat.

Enjoying you 'live from' thread. Always fun to follow along with Florence! ( and you and the Mr.)

  2. Would be interesting to see if others with "Logicals" booked at the moment are seeing two (or more) credits on "future" cruises.

AE, we did a 'logical' B2B in the Caribbean (on the Caribbean) in January, It was booked and sold as one cruise number, and we got 2 cruise credits each for the cruise.

  3. You should also consideradding the "Unlimited Soda & More Package" to your spreadsheet to let people see if it is worth it as well. This costs is about $8.05 per day (multiplied by the total number of days you will be on thecruise, I paid about $56 for a 7 night 8 day cruise). This allows the holder to get free sodas, juices and mocktails as wellas free hot chocolate and milk shakes/malts.

Tell me - does the package include 'fresh squeezed orange juice', or just the buffet/MDR juice?

    Thanks.

  4. Hi, Jennifer. We have cruised on B2B of 8 nights each, and when we ask about the wine card, they first may say 'no' but when we say we are on for more than 10 days, they check with the headwaiter and get the OK to sell us the package. We always buy our wine card from our (traditional dining) servers, as it has been stated that they get some perqs for selling it.

You can use the wine packages to purchase wines to take back to your cabin. We do that often. It can also be used in other dining venues, but we haven't used it in the buffet - only in the MDR and specialty dining rooms.

  5. We have made the final payment on an upcoming cruise through our TA (and have received zero $ balance statement from TA), so now my question is : Where on Princess Cruise personalizer (or elsewhere) does it show that Princess has received payment in full ?

    ...VTX-Al

If you use a TA (as you mentioned) you will not find the payment information in your cruise personalizer - you need to get the "Booking Confirmation" that was sent to your TA after the final payment was made. Your TA should have forwarded it to you.

I don't believe you would be able to access your Personaliser if your cruise hadn't been paid in full.

Not true - as soon as you have booked the cruise and put up the deposit, your personalizer is available to view and add information, etc.

  6. I would rather go across the bar in a big ship than in a 50 foot fishing boat. Yes it can be very rough crossing the Columbia bar. We never had any problems going across the bar when we fished down there out of Ilwaco Washington. The Coast Guard keeps pretty good tabs on the bar conditions because it is so dangerous and will close the bar in a minute if they feel the conditions are to dangerous, been there and done that more than once. I think the Grand left the Bridge cam in Dry Dock

The bridge cam is now up and running. They are heading toward the first bridge (St. Johns bridge).

  7. Hi Paul, I am traveling on the Caribbean princess this month and don't remember if I signed up for the meet & greet / mingle party for my cruise and now I can't find it anyplace, I went to the roll calls, the forums ....anyway I saw you said you organized or were talking to someone who organized one..... please tell me how to find it

This should be your roll call for the Caribbean Princess on Dec, 17th.

Edit: Sorry, I misread your post, thinking you were trying to find the roll call. I see you do have that.

In most of our cruises, registering for the roll call was pretty informal. Someone on the roll call just kept a list. I see you posted on your roll call about registering, so someone there should get back to you.

Have a great cruise, and take good care of the Caribbean Princess. We get on her on Jan. 6 for a B2B of 16 days.

  8. The ship is currently underway at 11.4 kn heading 260.

kph isn't typically used as a nautical measure of speed, but it translates to around 21 kph.

I guess I should have said "knots per hour" instead of assuming others would know what I meant.

OK, I just checked again and the speed is back up to the 11 knot area.

  9. I agree with the yeah-sayers, not the nay-sayers. We did the east to west full transit in April '16 and had a great time. We had been on the Island before the change, and, truthfully, we had none of the crowding, over-full problems that some folks complain about. In many cases, I think, many of the complaints are from those who have not sailed on her since the changes.

True - you can not do a complete loop of the Promenade deck - you need to cross over at the aft. It was never problem to go through the doors to the other side for us - but we're not marathoners so it didn't bother us.

My bet is that you will have a great cruise if you sail her.

  10. Slight correction

    Loyalty Credit- Per Cabin

    $25 for 20–31 cruise credits

    $50 for 32–41 cruise credits

    $75 for 42–51 cruise credits

    $100 for 52+ cruise credits

There are 11 cruise credits at $25, and the next 3 steps are 10 cruise credits until you reach the 52nd cruise.

Hmmmm... We have 21 cruise credits, and didn't get the loyalty OBC on either the 20th or the 21st cruise. Guess I'd better see the Captain's Circle rep on our next cruise.
