Hello,
Post-cuise, we will be in Fort-Lauderdale for 12 hours waiting for our flight back to Toronto. I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend a day round-trip sightseeing tour from Fort Lauderdale to Miami? We will disembark at 6:00 a.m. and our flight will leave Fort Lauderdale at 21:00.
Thank you.
We are in a similar predicament, except we will be leaving from Fort Lauderdale. We are considering doing the Princess excursion that will take us to the Everglades for an air-boat ride, followed by a tram/garden tour, and then delivery of us (and our luggage) to the airport.

I have used this Belkin device with both power and USB ports for years on Princess and RCI with no issues. You can find it cheaper than here.

That device does have a surge protector circuit and should not be used on a ship!

Were you on the Island Princess? I was wondering if they did the Crab Shack on it. TY[/QUOT
We were on the Island Princess in April 2016, and they had the Crab Shack several nights. We (a party of 10) had it and all enjoyed it. I would guess a similar dinner in a Seattle Restaurant (like the Crab Pot) would cost close to $50 per person. Only problem is that there was way to much to eat!.

Excellent photos of the sailway. Vancouver is one port we have never cruised out of. Even though we live only 2 hours away and spend a lot of time there. We need to correct that soon!
Jasperdo, I have enjoyed following your reviews and pictures. I know you are in Washington State, and 2 hours from Vancouver, BC, so that means you must be close to us. Mind sharing your location? We are in Anacortes. (battanhr at comcast dot net)

We originally booked an interior cabin B746 for the Oct. 26, 2017, 15 day cruise on the Star Princess. We were offered a balcony cabin for $336 a person. We took it! The total price including the upsell is still $350 a person cheaper than you can book it right now.
I'm happy for you - and for me, too!
We are on the Star for a November 10 cruise, and got an up-sell from a guaranteed BF cabin to a mini-suite for $199pp. The final cost of the mini-suite is actually lower than the original guarantee balcony price. :D

As Pam explained, the folio holds all your credits (+) and charges (-). Each day any charges are deducted, including gratuities. Non-refundable is first out and refundable will be used last. The folio doesn't break down what kind of OBC it is, it's all lumped together. If you have $100 military and spend everything except for $100, you'll get a check in approx. 4-6 weeks.
If we have military OBC, can we get it cashed out at the purser/customer services desk early while on the cruise?

At least according to this PDF:
http://cruiseship.homestead.com/1999_Cruise_Vessel.pdf
I hope Oceania buys her. O's food, beds and service are outstanding and we've had enough of the "mega ships." I love the size and layout of the R class ships.
I'm sorry, but I don't see anything other than a description of the ship itself. Where does it say that she is up for sale? Did I miss something?

Great! I was having serious Norris & Carol withdrawals!
We board the Star on Nov. 10 for a Mexico/Sea of Cortez cruise, so I'm interested in how she is holding up.

Where do you buy the coffee cards onboard the ship? I will be on the Grand this Sunday & want to use my OBC to buy a coffee card....just not sure where to find them...
You can buy the card at the Piazza Bar/International Cafe coffee bar on Deck 5.

Earlier this year someone was on a California coastal with Princess and it docked in the same harbor as the original Queen Mary. They wrote that if we show our Princess cruise card we get free admission.
However, I can't find anything about this on the Queen Mary site. Has anyone tried this recently? Is it a far walk? I don't think I'd pay to do this again, since we've been here several times before. But if it is close...and free...it could be kinda interesting to do a side-by-side comparison.
Unfortunately, the answer is 'no'. :( I had a port stop at San Pedro this past spring on the Island Princess, and wondered the same thing about free admittance. I emailed the QM staff asking if our Princess card would get free access, and got he following reply:

Good Afternoon Mr. xxx
Unfortunately, the free admission are for carnival cruise ships decking in the port of Long Beach not San Pedro.
Thank you

Note for anyone taking wine onboard: Corkscrews are no longer available in the onboard boutiques, so, if you plan to enjoy wine in your stateroom without having to call room service and be charged for corkage, be sure to pack a corkscrew ;)
Cheers!
Chris
Note that if you forget your corkscrew, the Princess gift shop sells a "Princess" jackknife that has a corkscrew on it, and the way it is made, when the screw is inserted in the cork fully, the casing of the knife allows you to lever the cork out easily. (Don't ask how I found out!) :D

I will be on the Coral Princess next month, so I have a question for those that might know if they serve Ribeye steaks in the Bayou Cafe? If not can you please tell me what kind of steaks they do serve?
Here's the menu for the Bayou Cafe. It does not show a ribeye, but I can vouch for the filet.

I can't believe it I got my Cruise Atlas and my Captain's Circle volume #3, 2016
today. :)
Tony
See, Tony - you're not always right! :D
BTW, I haven't received mine yet - but I did download it today.
-
My understanding is that if you are Elite you will receive one automatically. As of yesterday, the Princess website does not show that it is available to order.
It is there today. I just downloaded it. :)

Anybody know the current price of Stella on the deck bars.. Wondering if I need to re-mortgage the house..
I can't find a current beer menu online, but Stella is offered on tap in the Wheelhouse lounge for about US$ 6. It's often about $0.50 higher than some of the better beers. I usually get a more full-bodied beer, and they are about $5.50 or so.
Hopefully, someone with recent experience will chime in.

Tried and true method--put a single serving size Starbuck's Via in the pot of room service coffee. Helps a lot.
Now THAT'S a great idea. I've never thought about that. Next cruise!
-
Yes, you will get another set up.
Murphey, you beat me by THAT much!

We are doing a back to back cruise in March with 2 elites in room do they replenish the drinks in the room on second one just wondering
Yes, they do. We've enjoyed that perq several times. :)

Looks like the forward deck will be perfect for Alaska (but on the Island). Are those doors sometimes locked?
Those forward decks are also open on the Island Princess - at least they were on our cruise in April this year (Panama canal transit).
BTW, we had no issues with the 'new' changes to the ship. It's still a great ship. (YMMV)

Does Princess offer an OBC for shareholders on a one day cruise?
Yes. $50 for cruises of 6 nights or less.
-
I always donate my books on Oenology and Zymurgy to every ship's library.
I'll keep my eyes open for the Oenology books, but I'm not into Zymurgy. (home kit winemaker, but not homebrewer).

We are both military retirees that have previously applied for and received military OBC. I know the theory is . . . once you have it, you will always get it.
What I don't remember is if it shows up in your cruise personalizer or not prior to your cruise. We are 11 day away from sailing and wonder if I need to make a phone call to find out or not?
Yes, the Military benefit does show on the cruise personalizer, along with the other OBC. It has always been applied automatically on our account from the day of booking.

so i know room stewards will clean and put ice in your fridge. what else will they do or have you gotten them to do for you. just kinda of curious. thanks
We often travel with friends, and have a wine get-together in one of our cabins each night before dinner. Because of this, we request our steward to have clean wine glasses each afternoon (usually 4 or 6 glasses). That and ice each morning for use in the afternoon.

caribill, have you taken one of these tours? It sounds good, but some assurance it is a good tour would make me feel better about signing up for it.
