  1. Also depends on what you might consider rough and how easily you get seasick. If you are asking this question you may want to carry something like patches
  2. Monkeys are trained to pick pockets… don’t let a monkey anywhere near you
  3. Poogans Porch https://www.poogansporch.com/ Reservations! Rodney Scott’s BBQ on King St. https://www.rodneyscottsbbq.com The Scott Family, originally from Hemingway SC are renowned as making the best whole hog bbq in the state and that is saying something High Cotton https://www.highcottoncharleston.com/ Tommy Condons Irish Pub https://tommycondons.com/ Just a sampling of places
  4. As other posters have said Hotels downtown can be pricey, but they put you in the middle of everything. If you stay in My Pleasant you can catch an Uber downtown. Do not stay in N. Charleston… not safe!!! You can also stay in hotels across the Ashley River. Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie are fun if you all like history! Market Street , Meeting Street and especially King Street are great if y’all shop. Food: Locals like … The wreck of the Richard and Charlene Seafood restaurant, known locally as The Wreck 106 Haddrell St. Mt Pleasant SC It is a no frills seafood joint, the only landlubber food they have is London broil and it is not so good. Really good seafood, served in paper plates and you sit inside or outside. we like Tommy Condons on 160 Church St in the historic district. A pub that has great food especially fish and chips. Indoor seating and a covered patio along the street If you like something neat go to Fort Mountie on Sullivans Island. Edgar Allen Poe was stationed there and he wrote the short story The Gold Bug about the area. There is a restaurant there called Poe’s Tavern. Nice beach area beside Fort Moultrie that faces the harbor Be sure to try Shrimp and grits or She Crab soup or low country boil. All are a treat. my wife live at the beach about 80 miles north of Charleston and we go to Charleston a lot Hope this is helpful for you and others
  5. You will not have a lot of time as CHS airport is about 10 miles away in N. Charleston. There are plent of hotels/inns along Market Street and in the historic section generally that would probably store your luggage Things to do: wak Market St. Go into the old slave market along Market St. - There are tons of vendors and crafts available. Buy a sea grass basket, as they are made locally and money stays local. If you had a car Iwould suggest going out towards McClellanville/Isle of Palms and you could find better prices on sea grass baskets. If you were so inclined you could take a tour of Fort Sumter, and here the War of Northern Aggression started. 😃 A carriage tour of downtown Charleston, you will find them along Market Street Have a great trip
  6. 196 Concord St. Charleston, SC The downtown of Charleston is not huge and you can easily spot the ship. There’s only one port and one ship so the driver will know where to go. Be sure to visit the historical section of Charleston, as it reeks of old southern charm. We love Charleston and visit often as we are only 80 miles away. Any other questions I will try to help you

  12. Sausage gravy out of a can???… you gotta be yanking my chain!!! My grandmother and mother would roll over in their graves 1 pound of sausage… spicy is better, gives it taste. Brown it until there is no pink…Do not drain the grease Add a tablespoon of butter and let it melt 1/3 cup of AP flour and mix it in until it absorbs the fat Slowly add 3 cups approx. of whole milk slowly to avoid lumps Stir until it thickens. add black pepper and red if you want to. Add to good biscuits. I am from South Carolina and Miami is just a Piece of New York that got lost
  13. Where is a good place to buy vanilla while in St Marten??
  14. I agree that passengers tend to come and go, so that each cruise has its own personality. I believe the cruise in question was a 5 day cruise, summer season, out of New York and pricing. When we go in November on the Venezia it will be for 11 days, which may be more than what the more unruly passengers are willing to pay, IMHO. Being before Thanksgiving may knock out the younger crowd. We are hoping that the makeup of the cruise passengers will lean more toward an older more mature crowd.
  15. Maybe they will not change but maybe our cruise being in November will have an effect on the temp. Smoky casinos are the norm. Yes fights are cruiser issues but more security will quell these outbreaks quicker.
  16. Are you concerned about reports of poor security and the ship being hot 🥵 Weare not overly concerned as things tend to get exaggerated. Also thinks will be worked out in next 3 months I’m sure
  17. “You’re killing me Smalls” Guess where that quote came from. Yes you are right the movie “The Sandlot”
  18. Wow!! We are on the Venezia for an 11 day cruise to celebrate my wife’s 60th in November.
  19. Thanks a lot Mike. Are you all cruising anytime soon?
  20. Thanks for the advice. What was the price back then? What all did you see?
