  1. I was on the QM2 in August and did see all the broken seats in Illuminations. In a way they were nice because they were a great way to distance each other during the shows. I look forward to seeing the completed repairs when I board again in April 2023. Merry Christmas to everyone.
  2. 57eric I am also from the US so it would apply to the OP.
  3. Do you have your own account on Cunard.com. If you have your booking #, you should be able to pull of your booking and get your confirmation.
  4. I know this is not an aft balcony but I have my concerns about cabin 8118 on QM2. This is a sheltered cabin and now I am worried about the noise from above. Has anyone stayed this cabin or one close to it and can tell me how noisy it is?
  5. We loved our cruises on the Maasdam many years ago.
  6. Happy Thanksgiving. Please check with your travel agent and make sure that a lactose diet has been requested for your husband. They will bring him the menu during dinner so that he can pick his dinner for the following night. They will be made to meet his dietary needs. Enjoy your sailing.
  7. I was on QM2 in August and I requested a diabetic diet. Every night I would pre order my meals along with my dessert. I would pick 2 items and they would make one of them sugar free. Several nights I order a blueberry or peach crumble with sugar free ice cream. This was not on the menu but they make it for me when I ordered it. It was delicious and one of my favorite dessert. I found several no added sugar desserts in the Kings Court.
  8. I have also found myself sailing solo this year. It has been a huge change but I have adjusted after a few solo cruises. I love to talk to people about travel and cross stitching. While on a long QM2 cruise, I met a wonderful couple on the deck. She was cross stitching so I had to stop to see what see was making. It turned out we had lots in common and spent lots of time together onboard. Please book a large table in the dining room. That is a great way to get to talk to many different people on the length of the cruise. The cruise lines do a great job putting like people together at a table. When I say that I really mean it. I was on the QM2 to have a burial at sea for my husband. The Captain did an awesome job. I had 5 other persons at my table and we had so much in common, they attended my husband service and I had only know them for 3 days. What a blessing they were and still are. Just day Hi and smile at people as you pass them on deck. You will never know what that little word can mean for you or for the other person. Enjoy your cruise! I know you will be able to meet people to spend sometime with. Happy Holidays
  9. I would have her check but remember you would be booking with the current rate and current specials. Make sure you look at the new price and the pre-paid gratuities and compare them to your old rate, any special perks and any obc if you have them. I have found sometime it does not pay to make the changes as it would be more expensive.
  10. Enjoy your posts and the beautiful photos. I do not like to see that on my bed. So sorry to sailing is coming to an end. Safe travels home.
  11. I received an email and singles can take 25% off of select sailings,
  12. It is but hurricane season is from June 1 to November 30. Out weather has just been upside down. It was 76 in Central PA today. This weekend it will be 44. Enjoy your cruise and stay safe.
  13. Cunard offers a free shuttle to Center City Amsterdam.
  14. Thank you everyone. I did find out that you can call Cunard and just put money on your account. The smallest amount you can add is $25.00.
  15. I was on a 23 day sailing in August and I wore a mask most of the time except when I was eating or walking on the outside deck. Some of the people coughing sounded so horrible I was afraid and would get up and move away from them. Mask were recommended but not mandatory. I returned home and stayed covid free. I feel it was due to the masks. I maybe wearing a mask in December depending on the coughing and sneezing on board. I would rather wear a mask than miss part of my cruise. Just my feelings.
  16. I am looking at the Carnival gift cards and I can not find if they are accepted by Cunard. I found gift cards for Carnival, Holland America, and Princess but I can not find any Cunard gift cards. Before I purchase any gift cards, I need to know if they can be used to purchase Cunard shore excursions online.
  17. The cruise lines have land tours of the interior of Alaska before your cruise or after your cruise. We did a 4 day land tour. We stayed in a hotel in Anchorage and did a tour of the city, stayed in a resort at the base of Denali and was able to see the entire Mt Denali. We also took a 120 mile tour of Denali National Park. It was an 8 hr tour and we saw Moose, Deer, Mt. Sheep, Bears. Check with your travel agent you used to book your cruise and ask for the details on the land tours.
  18. We did Alaska the first week of June. The weather was cold but the mountains were beautiful with the snow on the tops. We saw lots of animals in Denali when we did our tour. Shipper 50 please make sure you also do the land tour before your cruise. We saw more on the land tour than we did on the cruise. The train ride up the White Mountain Pass into Canada is amazing. Just make sure you have your passport.
  19. I would have done the same thing if there was a sailing I want to do. Hope you enjoy your crossing.
  20. If you dislike guarantee cabins why do you book them.
  21. Kikimom I also lost my husband suddenly in December and did my first solo test in June. It was a 4 day sailing and I had a good time. Like you it was bittersweet, but found out I can do things on my own. The true test was a 23 day crossing on the Queen Mary 2 in August. That trip had been planned for our 50th anniversary celebration. I went solo and enjoyed the ship, met many new friends and I also had a burial at sea for my husband performed by the Captain. It was the a great trip but some days were really hard. I have booked a 26 day crossing on the Queen Mary 2 sailing the Norway Fjords round trip from New York City in 2023. One of the promises I made to him is I would continue to cruise as long as I can. Enjoy your cruise and maybe someday we will meet on a ship.
  22. Does the Rotterdam go through the old locks? I am doing a partial canal transit next year.
  23. You must look at the policies closely and you can get some that would be your primary coverage. You pay more for them but then you do not have to deal with waiting for a denial from your insurance company.
  24. I just booked another solo cruise to the Panama Canal on Holland America next October. I am going to continue to travel as long as I can. It sure beats sitting at home looking at 4 walls.
