Is boarding time enforced on Royal? I've sailed two post-restart cruises on NCL and Princess and it was chaos at embarcation as no one was verifying check in time.
This. It amazes me that 40% 50% or 70% off the 2nd passenger still yields the same out the door cost.
We started ignoring those email from the cruise line 🙂 A total waste of time.
Are there lines for the shuttle if you're in the first group of passengers off the ship? If so, how long did it take before you were able to board a bus and end up in Sitka?
You're right. I was thinking in the smaller subset of 7 to 10 day Vancouver to Seward/Whittier cruises on the mainline cruise ships. On longer voyages, the ship would have to restock regularly. And smaller ships can choose to get local ingredients just because they are more agile and flexible than a megaship.
We enjoy cruise food, but I think they load their stores once at embarkation and that's it. I don't think they take on fish from Ketchikan, for example. So for local foods, we do usually have a meal in port.
Last October, there was a bear sighting in Glacier National Park. The onboard ranger announced it over the PA. From our balcony, we were at the wrong side to see it.
When we went to Nugget Falls, we saw no bears. But plenty of fellow cruisers and Juneau locals. The kids had a lot of fun playing with two dogs at the falls, the owners were very nice and hospitable.
I think "one time" is the important part to note 😃 One time out of three seasons is not too bad! I imagine you saw them other times, but it was bad just that one time?
I always wondered why the companies don't make 3.3oz bottles, so that they can be in carry on luggage. The company could sell less, and charge the same.
I agree. Wall Street Journal used to compare monkeys throwing darts with a rotating panel of three experts. The monkeys consistently outdid the "experts." The paper discountinued the series, presumably because the results were always the same.
There are no experts on the market.
Is this true? Part of me can't imagine the cruise line agreeing to this risk and obligation when they aren't really a party to the flights. (They didn't set it up, they aren't profiting from it, etc etc etc)
