  1. 1 point closer to Zenith- thousands still to go!
  2. @land64shark Be sure to have your reservation marked and noted as special occasion for your wedding! IMHO, the liveliest, fun places on Celebrity ships are the martini and sunset bars open to all.
  3. From this thread's title I envisioned the OP having a long swim ashore!
  4. @heatherkh Was your TA an actual person or did you book thru an online agency? I agree that your cabin assignment is within the parameters of what is stated on the Celebrity website. Your TA should have explained your cabin category options to you, especially if she was aware you'd never booked a cruise before. FWIW, we were assigned a fully obstructed view veranda GTY the one time we selected that option. I knew full well that that type cabin would likely be the one we were given. It wasn't awful. Most of the time on S-class ships we book partially obstructed view veranda cabins- most recently 6241 on the Silhouette which had one of the big verandas with the smallest lifeboat in front of it. The cabin next door was a deluxe (aka spendy) veranda which, from what I could tell, had a somewhat slightly obstructed view. We've often booked one of the partially obstructed cabins circled by @Ex-Airbalancer in post #30 too as they have larger verandas with just the blue dining venue roof as the obstruction. What cabin on what ship were you assigned?
  5. What has not been mentioned regarding your inspection and video documentation of your rental car upon pickup is photographing the windshield from the INSIDE! We were dinged by Sixt for a starburst found when the agent took a FLASHLIGHT while sitting in the driver's seat and Voila! saw a nearly invisible ding on the windsheild upon our returning the car. 750 euro demanded immediately before we could leave for our flight out of KEF. Luckily our Chase Visa reimbursed us for the entire amount, but the stress at the time was no fun!
  6. We took our allotted 2 bottles pp aboard our just completed Silhouette cruise. No perks booking. Got an additional bottle for booking onboard day 1. Bought a bottle one night at dinner. Would usually bring a glass into the MDR from Elite happy hour. Came back with 2 bottles. In the future, we might pay the corkage fee to bring a bottle into the MDR. Our next cruise departs Reykjavik where I expect the cost for a bottle of wine to be higher than in other ports. Any suggestions on where to purchase wine there?
  7. We were on the same Silhouette sailing as SunandSnow and No, no children's filet for us😔.
  8. Despite my pleas in 2 calls to CC that those 5 points from this month's webinar be posted to my account in time for our next cruise, no luck. I will say that both CC reps tried very hard to help us. Those points would have brought us to +.
  9. Is there a direct phone # to reach the PUP powers that be?
  10. For all the E class itineraries I've been investigating OVs are pricing higher than IVs. Hmmmm.......
  11. My friend had her 21-year-old granddaughter with her on our Avalon Danube cruise. M.A. led her gram on adventures separate from the cruise excursions when there was free time, e.g. a Vienna museum that required several trams to get there. My advice is to research opportunities for exploring the ports your cruise will visit. Do you enjoy wine, are you foodies, history buffs? Take time for just the two of you when you can!
  12. It never hurts to ask if those recent PUPs can be posted to your account before the stated 3/14 date! Email: cec@celebrity.com
  13. Will watch it before 2/22. Points awarded 3/14. Upcoming cruise ends 3/9. Desperately need those points before the 14th! These 5 will get us to PLUS, but so will our cruise.😑.
  14. I see "Plus One Additional Offer" at the bottom of the Future Cruise flyer. We booked our Eclipse 2024 "no perks" cruise using the Book Later option. In addition to the OBC for the cabin, at the time of booking Celebrity was offering an additional OBC per person. Is that the "Additional Offer"? If not, would the choices have been the usual suspects of prepaid gratuities, drinks package and wifi? I sure would like to have our gratuities prepaid!
  15. How far from port is your excursion taking you? If it is only the 2 of you, I would review the itinerary carefully and decide what stop ought to be skipped in order to get you back to the ship at least an hour before sailaway time, Keep in mind that "all aboard" is typically 30 minutes before the ship's scheduled departure, so if Celebrity's itinerary states port times are, e.g. 7am-4pm, figure 3:30 is when you should be back. And, if it is a tender port, you will be lucky to disembark on the earliest tender to shore.
  16. We've enjoyed many excellent private excursions with our traveling companions. Our most unique was in Gibraltar when we managed to book a retired RAF gentleman to bring us to and lead us up the Mediterranean Steps. A young couple from our roll call joined us. DH and I walked back to port after the climb because we were meeting family for a fish n' chips lunch, but the couple took up the guide's offer to show them WWII seige tunnels not open to the public. They were thrilled!
  17. I got a Blue Chip email once and didn't even open it. After reading about all the great deals from the BCC I regret trashing it since I've never received another offer! Not a high roller but always visit the casino several times when we cruise and almost always enter my seapass card. Is there a way to be reinstated to receive their emails?
  18. You aren't alone! PUPpies Unite!🐩🐶🐕‍🦺🐕🦮!!
  19. I thought this was the PUP thread! Going to "first unread post" since yesterday, it appears this thread is now Princess vs. Celebrity!🙃
  20. I recall that tour you and the Boss found in Nassau! It was a lovely way to spend time away from the madding crowd! Not a TBL tour, but your research led to it- I think through the Heritage Society? Our next booking with ToursByLocals is in Lucerne!
  21. At least with ToursByLocals you can choose your guide and be in direct contact with her. But I didn't realize there's an upcharge for booking with them. I am aware that Viator is a middleman so have never booked through them. It takes research to find private tour guides - often several pages into Google. Aside from the Ports forums, I have been stalking the roll calls for this year's Celebrity Iceland/Greenland cruises and last year's as well to find the private tour guides those cruisers have booked! Thanks to them, I have 8 good leads bookmarked for 2024!
  22. @Sox Fan Cruiser To keep yourself occupied, go to the roll call for similar sailings to yours to see what those folk are all doing. Then explore the tour websites they're touting and bookmark until you decide which might work best for you and your friends! Around our August Avalon river cruise, I am taking 9 cats from Paris to Amsterdam to board our boat and after the cruise, herding everyone from Basel-Lucerne-Wengen-Zurich with adventures in between!
  23. I have bought/sold when OBC became moot when perks were included. The OBC from that purchase was a +10% gain over several cruises. Bought again/sold again and bought and own as of now. Had I hung onto the stock a little longer the first time around would have tripled my initial investment. Oh well, can’t complain since am in the black overall.
  24. @ChrisB123 You might have to take 2 river cruises- the Rhine and the Danube. We've only cruised the Danube on Avalon which gave us many German "ports"- started in Nuermberg, then to Regensberg and Passau. We overnighted in Vienna Austria before ending our cruise in Budapest. Our Rhine cruise on Avalon is in 7 months and friends who'd done this route previously liked it so much they wanted to do it again and convinced us and another 6 couples to sail along. It starts in Amsterdam and ends in Basel with mostly German city stops. We'd previously done a DIY land tour to Germany and we spent time along the scenic castle section of the Rhine. Based on our experience there AND the fact that our friends who'd cruised the Rhine on their own and then the Danube with us, wanted to do the Rhine again, that would be my suggestion for your 1st river cruise!
