  1. Even more so if I’d booked on a different cruise line 😬
  2. Well I’ve certainly caused some concerns about my comments. I understand that many like the “equality” of the treatment of the passengers but from a business model point of view I would provide a better service to passengers paying 4-5 times most other cruisers. I don’t think it’s great business for Seabourn as we would not book this room again, for more pampering I will go with NCL or for the small shop feel, Regent & Viking. A final straw is that they seem to have runout out shower gel so have resorted to watering down the Molten Brown products, not what I’d expect from a ‘quality’ cruise line. Perhaps the Carnival thread runs deep!
  3. Well it’s a lovely suite, very spacious & wonderful outside space. The main problem is noise! If the sea is slightly rough then you hear & feel every wave hitting the bow. I also think there is a noise when the stabilisers are deployed. Also when docking you hear all the machinery etc so expect to be woken up, huge vibrations when they are manoeuvring into dock, so much so that we’ve had items fall off the tables, if they lower the anchor then the noise if deafening! Service wise you can wait a long time for drinks in certain areas such as The Colonnade & the Observation, in the Colonnade you sometimes have to ask a few times. We’d probably sail with Seabourn again but I’m not sure the expensive suites are worth it compared to the offering on other cruise lines.
  4. We now realise that, although it’s not what we had expected. No, we were waiting for the promised visit! Not so strange, my first visit on here & thought I’d respond to a post. Well I’m on the ship & I’ve spoken to many more than you have, perhaps you can put them in touch and we can compare notes. Thank you for your sincerity.
  5. I am currently on Encore in a Signature Suite, on our first Seabourn cruise. We were expecting to be impressed and I have to say they have failed that test. Don’t get me wrong it’s very good but considering we’re in an expensive suite we’ve not felt valued. Previously we’ve sailed in the Haven suites with NCL and I have to say they appreciate you and look after you far far better than Seabourn have. When we booked we were told we’d be offered a bridge tour & get a personal visit from the hotel director, we’re now on day 25 of 28! No priority booking for the grill, no free laundry, no concierge, no butler etc etc. We noticed many cabins were given mid way cruise feedback forms, we did not receive these, perhaps they’re only interested in past passengers? Last night was a Valentine’s dinner in the main restaurant, what a disaster! Forty five minutes wait to take the order and then massive waits for the food and between courses, I even had to fetch water myself after three attempts! There seems to be many new staff on board. Lastly, speaking to fellow passengers, those who have sailed with Seabourn before have all said the product has diminished. Happy to answer any questions if anyone has any.
  6. We’re looking for the same trip, looking at options but many cruise lines take their time, we like to book far flung trips a few years ahead.
  7. Sorry to hear about your experience, we’re on Viking next year from Auckland to Bali, we always try to chat to any fellow gay passengers, although some are more friendly than others. Take care.
  8. The relaxation is good news for us and just in time for our cruise in January. I think it would help if Seabourn gave some clarification on their meaning of ‘elegant’ jeans etc.
  9. Their wording doesn’t describe the jeans in your photo - “Elegant jeans are now welcome in all dining venues.”
  10. My favourites have to be NCL’s Jewel class ships, so Jewel, Pearl, Gem & Jade although there is a charge for a pass. RCL used to be good but they’ve ripped the single sex areas out, coincides with their decline I think. I’ve heard the older Princess ships are ok, but never tried. I’m on the Diamond Princess in August.
  11. We’re now going on Diamond next August, after having three cruises cancelled 😩. The spa area sounds very appealing, can’t wait.
  12. I’ve just caught up with the episodes covering Virgin Voyages, oh my we will be avoiding this cruise line, it looked awful and quite tacky. The only advantage was it being children free.
  13. I did complain to the Bar Manager but to no avail. The complimentary wines changed each day but there was only a choice or white or red! If any wine was leftover I was able to request it in the bar the next day but it was hit and miss as we weren’t keen on the wines quite a few times. I ended up drinking more gin! I heard a few others mentioning the limited wine selection. It was a nice cruise but the wine issue would prevent me sailing with Emerald again, including the Emerald Yachts.
  14. Viking asked us to have a test prior to our cruise in April, although we paid for tests no one asked to see the test results!
  15. I’ve sailed with Avalon, Viking & Emerald, shorts very acceptable. On Emerald I even saw some in shorts at dinner.
  16. These are the three white wines available, I signed up for the premium drinks package, what an error! White Wines “Grüner Veltliner, Mörwald, Wagram, Austria Marsanne Premiere Note Collines, hone Valley, France Chardonnay Reserve de la Baumé, Languedoc-Roussillon, France” Red Wines Bluer Zweigelt, Mörwald Winery, Wagram, Austria Syrah Premier Note, Rhodaniennes, hone Valley, France Cotes du Rhone Les Cassagnes, Rhone Valley, France There are lots of cocktails available plus beers etc but wine is limited.
  17. Same, 3 reds plus some rose. I’ve had new world wines on other river cruises. Emerald’s wine offering is abysmal.
  18. No, this is the complete wine list!
  19. Just on Luna now, nice ship but if you like wine then be prepared to be disappointed. Only three, yes three, white wines ti choose from and at dinner you have a choice of white or red! Very disappointing 😩
  20. Just on Emerald Luna, the wine list is incredibly poor, just three white wines to choose from and at dinner you only have a choice of white or red! I’d never have booked if I’d known the selection was so limited, it wouldn’t be as bad if the wines they had were any good, they’re not. I asked if they had any New Zealand wines and was told it’s too far away!! Sorry Emerald, I had much higher expectations, don’t think I’ll be joining you again.
