  1. Sadly, I feel like we don't meet the 'new' P&O demographic so not sure where to go next. We love Celebrity and Oceania looks amazing ..... but the cost is way higher.
  2. That will keep me quiet in the half term break ..... usually it is after half term I think. Now all P&O need to do is convince us both that the P&O we love is what we will experience if we book. (Sorry, but we have doubts)
  3. Reading some of the posts tonight I wish there was a 'look of horror' face ........ rather than just the like and laugh one!
  4. You beat me to it --- I was just about to post that and then looked down and you'd taken the words right out of my head. I am somewhat pleased though -- to be on your wavelength re humour, I must be doing something right, or I have been led astray !!!! Unless it is a case of 'great minds think alike .. and fools seldom differ' 😉
  5. We do not really know you or John, but are remembering you both in our prayers xx
  6. Hi Pete14, That's a posh seagull ! Does he know he is at the seaside ??? 😉
  7. Hi thank you so much - have only just seen this 🙂 We've done a number of fly cruises with Celebrity and stayed a few days before our cruise and this suits us well as it is just great to be in a city like Rome or Venice for 2 / 3 night before you set sail. 🙂 The information above is great - thank you so much. We aren't looking to cruise with Oceania soon, as I will be doing my 'homework / research' before we book. Not sure about you all, but I think that the research and planning is half the fun 😉 Looking forward to getting to know you all on this board as I am usually over on P&O or Celebrity 🙂
  8. Don't tend to use TA for cruises as we find that we know more than they do ... if needs be I will contact them directly. Just to thought someone on here may know.
  9. Sorry to appear dim but we've never been with Oceania. Reading this I am checking that the air fare is NOT included in the cruise price? If not is the price quoted from their site including the air fare or not as this makes a big difference to our budget. Thanks
  10. We have never known these people, but we will remember them in our prayers. x
  11. Sorry Avril, but every time I read one of your posts and see your picture I see Joan Sims from the Carry On Films. You are just so much like her --- and to be honest she was one of my favourites 😉 I think I've said this before, but your photo always makes me smile x
  12. Can this thread be linked to a similar one?
  13. To be honest we don't do the entertainment much --- our sea day heaven is spent on our aft balcony relaxing and watching the wake go by. We don't do shows etc etc so a lovely evening is a great meal, and a quiet bar with a tinkling piano or a sunset bar just the two of us .... sounds boring to some, but for us perfect. To be honest one of our favourite cruises was on P&O Oceana (an older ship) where we often just retreated to our balcony with cocktails in hand and relaxed on the balcony after our evening meal with glass in hand looking out over the sea ....................... just heaven
  14. Evening everyone --- this made me laugh. A message to all of us who have yet to retire (and there is nothing wrong with that and we are jealous)
  15. Are all flights included and do Oceania offer hotel stays for a few days before or after the cruise as Celebrity does? Have to say, the more we are looking, the more interested we are getting 🙂
  16. Thanks for your replies, everyone. It has given us a lot to think about. Personally, I think we would be happy on both lines and now it seems to be down to cost and itinerary. I can see that Oceania is more expensive, but when you look at it closely, there many things added in the price that we pay extra for on Celebrity. On a completely different note - does anyone know where you would fly in to or out of if you go to Haifa. We are looking at a Holy Land Cruise if possible as they look amazing.
  17. We are researching a number of cruises for a 'special' birthday and possibly retirement cruise. We normally sail with P&O or Celebrity (last cruise spoiled us on EDGE in August 2019) Just wondering how Celebrity compares with Oceania as we have seen some great itineraries that we would love to do.

  19. Hi, we are researching Caribbean cruises for what may be a special cruise / date! We love Celebrity but don't like the ports, so are looking at P&O Britannia for 2 weeks or a 2 week cruise and stay with Marella. Just wondering if anyone who has been on both cruise lines has a view re the best choice and best time of the year to go. We are thinking late February or early March. (Never been in school holidays before so this would be the first time so exciting !!!!) Thanks everyone
  20. Have just been reading the Summer 2024 thread and a number of people are mentioning new cruises they would like to see to stop the same old, same old.. I will kick us off by suggesting more cruise and stay options for fly cruising or just one of them as a starter: Sorrento stay and the Med. cruises Lake Garda / Venice stay and the Adriatic Cyprus stay (Pafos) and Eastern Med cruises More cruises to Iceland in school holidays please More cruises to the Holy Land / Jordan / Egypt PLEASE --- one would be good From Southampton, any cruise but different itineraries - more to Iceland, particularly in the Winter for the Northern Lights.
  21. Hi Off on our first cruise to the Fjords next week (YEAAAAH) Just wondering if we will need any local currency at all. Thanks
