  1. On our fall trip to Greece and the Rhapsody , I signed up for Verizon's $40 plan for 100 talk minutes and some data and text. I had just used this for South Africa. Anyway, I keep getting a message that my Travel Pass was activated or used up of the day. I get home and see a unusual bill. I logged on to my account and my international travel plan was TRAVEL PASS. I DID NOT sign up for it as I had used with success, the 100 minute plan in South Africa. Also I ask for only one month of this plan, was monthly. Good news after a stop at a Verizon company store, it was handled nicely giving me credit for the Automatic logons that I NEVER USED. I was impressed with the service. It could have been my fault, but as ex/retired iT/technology guy it would have been unusual.

  2. The last time we did traditional dining, we were at a table for 10 and it was awful. It was so crowded that you could barely move and there was no way to talk with people at the other end. Ask for adjacent tables and rotate between them from one night to the next.

  3. Direct from Celebrity Cruises Website within the FAQ's:

Can I transfer my reservation to a travel agent if I purchased my cruise directly from Celebrity Cruises?

Bookings may only be transferred to a Travel Agent up until 60 days from creation if the request is made outside of Final Payment period and the booking is not paid in full. If a booking has a ChoiceAir ticket and the transfer request involves a change in currency we cannot accommodate a transfer.

I actually did not read that, like most of us. Like I said there is more to this story than I have shared.

  4. Make final payment on X, but I though i would check prices and what a drop. Anyway I lost my deposit but still saved 1500$ Longer story to this. however it never hurts to try and get all that you can at the prices they are charging.

Just be nice and not combative, you still might have to suck it up realizing that you got stiffed a little by not checking prices weekly for final.

  5. Hi Wolfgang,

Since you booked diret with Celebrity, you should have 60 days in which to transfer the booking to a travel agent of your choice, I use one of the large online agents) and add their own special bonus offers to the ones you received from Celebrity. In most cases this amounts to additional on board credit.

    Enjoy your cruise!

Just found out, if you have made final payment, you cannot transfer the booking. This is sort of what I have been going around and around with X about.

  6. Every thing is run by MBO. Any level of service for what ever reason has a pat answer that only that level can handle and so up the line of supervisors, you go looking for answers.

My recent experience was pretty good, but poor outcome for me. I'm still dealing with it a little, but at some point, it is not worth the time or effort.

We have a TA who is a friend, we only use her when the company offers OBC or something else we need. However, I am "experience" at booking EVERYTHING and prefer to do/manage my own bookings. For less experienced travelers/cruisers, a GOOD" TA is a great way to go. I actually get better deals on many things that the TA would never have time to find. No one, will understand how detailed and time consuming travel planning can be.

Side note, on my invoice, my perks are so hard to understand, they do not just say beverage package etc, and when I ask the Agent, if it was truly on there it took her some time to see it. Maybe they have a different screen when looking at the reservation.

  7. If you can go to the education class before the cruise you'll make better meal choices. Remember sugar free isn't calorie or carb free. You really need to limit carbs with type 2

Choosing the right foods or amount of food to eat is the important thing. There is no true public diabetic menu any where. I tried a couple of airlines "diabetic" food, if you can call it that, and for me it was as bad for me as Macdonald's french fries.

  8. from California, and the clothes will be almost the same. It is hard to tell a person what to wear, with out knowing AGE, health, and information. Good to remember that dressing is no longer a WORRISOME issue, about packing dress clothes suits or tux, unless are into being a fashionista. If you need something different that what you brought, think a shopping trip or on the ship they will have some good sales getting ready for the Caribbean

  9. But MOST of the actual competitions activities on cruise ships are farcical buffoonery and entertainment for the masses, not that it is all bad, but winning or getting chosen to participate many times is the LUCK of the DRAW. Some one said above, you might have spoken to the CD and set up your chances but who knows. Some one mentioned HAL had a pay for cooking activity, could be interesting. My lady watches the Cooking channels and she would love to watch one live.

  10. We are D+ and of course elite with X. If you are not, and far from those loyalty levels, I would cruise any line I wanted for the right price. I just got a travel company's flyer for HAL and they are offering many cruise with 4 perks from PP GRATs, basic alcohol drink package, internet etc. I think other cruise lines are doing it as well.

Having said that, it is nice to get some special treatment/acknowledgement that does come with the loyalty rewards even if you do not appreciate or use it.

  11. and it became a RANT. Second try, I use PP gratuities and if YES some one must or has to do something special for me or goes above his "JOB" yes I give a little extra. How ever, being a waiter, room steward, is his job and he is paid to do it. So, why do many of us Cruisers, including me, think we must tip above the Cruise lines recommended amount, and feel somewhat guilty if we do not.

Personally I think, TIPPING expectations are out of control.

  12. I have done both, IMHO, X is not truly exciting, I was on the eclipse last year. I can only reference to the pool side venue, they try hard and the band plays hard but but lacked something special. There is a lot of upsale for 80$ bottles of champaign and there id, of course is free as will, if you can call champaign LOL. With the drinks package you get a better champaign but you have to ask for it.

I never ventured, into the interior celebrations, as mentioned above but may do do this year since we doing the 14 night Xmas and NYE on the Equinox. The MDR was one slightly more festive than the regular night, but that memory has slipped a little, maybe because it was not trulls special.

To some it up RC and the Freedom was more festive. You might ask, why not book the freedom again. At the time of booking, it was cheaper to do a balcony with perks on X than a B2B on the Freedom. Also BIG partying is not our thing, but we like to be around the excitement for a while and people watching and WOW many many people with exciting outfits are great to see.

  13. $5.6 and $8.75. I have receive some OBC but NO MORE. I should have sold it when it was $95, but I do not watch the price often enough, and when some one above said it back to $100, I will put a sell at $100 sell order on it.

    No sencse in keeping it.

  14. I would rather have well behaved kids than dogs in the DL... Seeing more of that lately...

If the dogs are TRUE service NO problem, but TOO many are not, just some one who, CHEATS, and cannot leave Fido at home. Many kids, now days, are D or D+ and even Pinnacle, yes I have met some. Maybe the tiered kids should be allowed, hard to deny that, but kids take up seats, for TRUE tiered cruisers. RC has created a big issue with their loyalty program and any rule is hard to enforce by the Concierge with out a lot of flack and threats from entitled cruisers.
