  1. I agree totally. I hate looking at someone else's dirty dishes in the hall. Also it makes it difficult for people with mobility issues.

I also agree. And it's not just because it's difficult for those with mobility issues. Imagine if there was an emergency and the passageway was filled with people heading for muster stations. Now they're tripping over trays left in the passageway... not a pretty sight.

  2. I wonder if the E4 50% deposit will be non-refundable like the SNAP currently is.

I wonder, too, if there will be any prime Alaska cruises in the "select" itineraries the E4 is good on.

Not getting my hopes up on either (why give things away if the cruise is selling fine?), but it would be good fun to have included beverages for the same itinerary the original OP* asked about... lots of specialty coffees watching the fantastic scenery!

Idle question, how much does dinner in the PG go for anyway? No 3rd/4th guests in the PO OVs on the Lower Promenade, and the deposits are already down...

  3. That's a tough one. We've been lucky to have so many great experiences and fond memories. If I have to choose I'd say it would be the 26 day TA we did in 2012. Ft. Lauderdale to Venice. Everything about that trip was fantastic, from being upgraded to business class for free on the flight to FLL, the calm seas crossing to Gibraltar, the fantastic weather in the Med, visiting the pyramids in Giza, sailing into Venice and the great people we met. Every hour of every day was memorable.

  4. The photo I saw had this silly looking bracelet which looked too bulky to put in your pocket, but maybe there are other choices. I will say, though, that I am not paying for something to replace the bracelet. In the wonderful world of cruise upcharges, just on principle, I definitely draw the line before paying for accessories so I can use my sea pass.

I look at it this way - I only have to buy the bracelet, necklace or whichever accessory I choose once, and then I can use it for all the other cruises I have planned in the future. Not really that much different than buying one of their lanyards.

  5. Just had a thought and I don't think this issue has come up before in this thread: will they be doing away with Patters??

I can't see them doing away with the Patters completely but it might make sense if they reduce their production and make it an option. For example it might just be something that your steward asks you on the first day. Would you like a paper version left with your chocolate, yes or no?

  6. I shop around until I find a TA agent that does not charge a cancellation fee and offers a great additional OBC.

This, I believe is the reason that TAs are starting to charge a cancellation penalty. Especially if a customer is using them for research and other negotiations. (Not saying you are).

For a TA to spend time researching and then working out pre- and post- arrangements, flights, transfers, etc. and then to have a customer shop around and take all that info and transfer it to a competitor because they got an additional $50 OBC must be maddening...

  7. It's where I've purchased my evening clutches that I only use when I cruise. They are so small they only hold a few things like glasses, cruise card and lipstick. I also bought a $10 watch to wear ashore in ports where I've been warned not to wear anything valuable.

My husband has purchased some decent T-shirts there that were "end of season". Caribbean ones on a TA Cruise - that sort of thing.

  8. I'm sure a travel agent could talk with Celebrity about the room layouts, but that is one extra layer of people.

My TA can see in her reservation system which are "bed near door" or "bed near balcony" so no need for her to call Celebrity.

We happen to prefer "bed near door" and that's what we've gotten each time. But I do understand what you mean about the blame game, they do seem to like to pass the buck.

  9. Without hopefully getting slammed for using grammatical definitions as I've done in the past, bow and stern are nouns naming sections of the ship as you note. Forward (fore) and aft are adjectives or adverbs modifying or describing an action (moving aft) or a noun (aft cabin).

    Makes perfect sense to me!
