  1. According to https://www.logitravel.co.uk/cruises/thomson/technical-details-marella-spirit-18885475.html there is a self service laundry on Spirit but, as doing laundry is the last thing I think of when on a cruise lol, never asked. We have used the pay service (a bag full for around 15 Pounds but think this is wash and dry only not with ironing). For creased shirts etc. we just hang them in the bathroom for a few minutes with the shower full on hot and the creases fall out. From this year you can take a travel iron on board.

there are laundry rooms on deck 2/6/7 with washers/dryers and irons- you need to buy tokens for powder for the washers, but dryers and irons are free to use

some ships have actually been confiscating irons from passengers

  3. Naples airport is so bad, we flew home from ther in feb 2011 after our cruise changed de to the problems in egypt, we should have flown from barcelona, they kept us on the coaches for ages outside the airport, then all the flights check ins were all in one queue and passengers leaving earlier were at the back

It was so bad and so unorganised we went straight from check in straight to the plane it took so long

  6. Honestly WHAT a Faff. - I booked my June cruise at a Thomsons Travel shop as frankly the website is rubbish. Anyhoo - I was not aware that if I booked that way I could do NOTHING online (well my bad for not investigating that first).

Yesterday I went to book car parking and some excursions and could not believe that you just booked the excursion for the day. - No idea what time it left could be early morning, mid day or late afternoon. - Never Ever come across this on a cruise before. Having endured 45mins in the travel shop I sincerely hope that the cruise is better than the service I have had so far.

Just looking for reassurance that once on board the experience is far far far better than that of the travel shops. :o

    you can book excursions online

most of them leave early in the morning but sometimes there can be the half day ones departing in the afternoons, bt times are not known til onboard the ship

  7. I was on the Discovery on the 21st January - loved it. 3rd Thomson/Marella cruise more used to Celebrity/MSC but they have certainly upped their game now. Really impressed with the ship and the staff were terrific.

I was really surprised by the amount of people who dressed up on the Captain's Cocktail night, many more than not and I saw at least 2 kilts.

Just wish the summer 2019 sailing would hurry up and become available as I'm hoping to go to the Baltic from Newcastle.

    Enjoy your cruise.:D

they are doing the baltic from newcastle this year too

  8. Regarding newer ships I'll be happy with another vision class RCI rather than another Mein Schiff cos if I liked ships with 2000+ passengers I'd go with another line. I like friendly ships where you can easily find your way around and not floating office blocks/hotels

was talking to a friend last week, he is a head of department on the marella ships, and he was telling us at the moment marella want the explorers to be the biggest ships they will ever have in their fleet, they don't want to go any bigger

  9. I have been reading some of the reviews on this page and think that you don't now have to wait 90 days to book seats on the plane. Is this right?Hoping to go premium in FEB 2019 and would like tog et theseats we want.

We are also going to Cyprus in August but have to wait 90 days to book these seats.I'm a bit confused.

    MARGARET

if you book premium, extra space or extra legroom seats you can choose you're seats when booking

  10. We have been on both d1 and d2 last year, we did prefer d2 as the crew said they had listened to customer complaints and changed things on d2

We have booked d1 again for 2 cruise this year a week in jne fjords, and the 80's mini cruise, i know 3 of the entertainment team from last summers d2 showteam, the brilliant seb jackson kelly, freya, and simon, and also georgia and barclay beales from the spirit will be on too

Also booked the spirits last cruise as its or favourite ship

  11. I hadn't seen the Strum Jam one.

Dont know if you have aleady heard Strum Jam are back to spirit next year, another good year on the cards.

Agree with you about B/R ,i have them both on disc and top men definately had the edge back in the days of joseph and co.

good to hear strum jam are back next year, i know last year they wanted the spirits last season, dysongs the guitarist in raffles is barclay beales he was showteam last year, and was in a band from the x factor show too- stereo kicks
