  2. On my last 2 cruises this year I was told to expect a questionnaire via email within a couple of days of my return and have never received one, dont they bother anymore? I know there administration side is an absolute shambles, prior to going I contacted Thomson about filling in the embarkation form as a return customer as part of the address they had for me was wrong, they said they couldnt change it but it could be changed on tge ship which I thought was odd, when I did ask on the ship I knew the answer before I even asked, how can they change it, they dont have the main computers.

The more I travel with Thomson the more that I get the impression it is money driven and they really couldnt care less as the brand sells itself so will always be popular.

the email questionnaire is just random now not everyone gets one

  3. I think it's going to look something like this:

Discovery 3 (Mein Schiff 1) - Palma on Saturdays

Discovery 2 - Malaga on Sundays

Discovery - Corfu Town on Fridays

    Dream - Palma on Tuesdays

    Dubrovnik - Celebration on Thursdays.

they said the mein schieff ships aren't gonna be discovery 3 and 4

  4. If your going on the spirit or celebration they have a select couple of cabins priced as deck 3/4 ou but are actually on deck 7 . So just book deck 3/4 ou and pay the £42 cabin choice fee for the cabin numbers on deck 7

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Thomson have now started classing these are deck 7/8 outside and also a higher supplement too

  5. Oh dear! So they are positioning both Discoveries in the Caribbean which leaves the Dream for the Canaries. IMO the Discoveries are vastly superior to anything else Thomson has. I was hoping a nice Discovery cruise to the Canaries would be good for winter 2017/18 but now.....:(

At least if you choose correctly you can get a reasonable single cabin on Dream compared with the poor ones on Celebration.

Discovery 2 is doing canaries next winter season

  6. Now booked for the Newcastle to Malaga repo cruise in September.

Someone reported on FB that some TA phone calls to book these repositioning cruises are being transferred to Indian or South African call centres.

The india centre took over a lot of calls on tuesday as the main dept were so busy with he sale of the repos, they told our ta they were selling so fast people have been waiting since april, and told so many different times that they would be on sale

The sept newcastle to malaga is still the same as in the brochure

Glad to have finally got it booked

  7. Just a thought re the OP's original query - would you need your passport for a Round Britain cruise if it only called at UK ports? Perhaps so as you may well be outside territorial waters for some of the time. Anyone know?

We have been advised by our ta we need our passports for the highland fling 4 night cruise, even though all ports are in scotland

  8. We have had the fizzy wine which I am sorry to say we don't like. Tried it with orange juice in but still couldn't drink it. Shame really, but it was good to be acknowledged. We had a thank you note once to say we could go to a restaurant and only pay for one meal which I thought was a strange thank you for returning when it involved us paying for 1 meal, and we are happy with the included meals. We have had a £25 off OBC bill which was good, and an ironing service for 6 items free which gave my husbands shirts a good crease free look. It is usually the wine we don't like though. Anyone know if stewards would change this for a bottle of red or white?

I know they will change them on the spirit

  9. Hi, having never been on s cruise we have decided to take the plung and are looking to go on a cruise October half term currently there are 2 options with Thomson, one on the Discovery called the Magic of Spain and the other on the spirit called Spanish Sunsets.

My first question is which it likely to have the calmer sea, I know there guarantee but a few opinions if possible.

I know the spirit is a much older ship but the cabin they are offering on the discovery makes it much more expensive. The discovery is a grand suite cabin and on the spirit it's a deluxe cabin, some I work with had been on the spirit and they told me to pay the extra for the discovery.

There well be 2 adults a 16 yo and a 20month old toddler so I'm not so sure we could all fit in the inside cabin plus that's the other option?

I know the drinks packages devide opinion on here as I have been reading some of the threads, but can someone tell me if we did not bother with it what drinks do you get ? I have Been told that all soft drinks, tea/coffee are free but you will have to pay for water to nothing is free if you don't have the drinks package.

Any help or info would be great.

soft drinks are not free, but tea and coffee and water are free in the lido and mdr (not bottled water) and fruit juice at breakfast, not been on discovery but lov ethe spirit, you would get a rollaway bed and cot, the deluxe are bigger cabins

  10. Well i would like to know you've taken the trouble to record your experiences so please post them, as I said originally the cabin looked smaller when we visited, as guests, but it would be nice to have your review. Two weeks on Thursday until we go so it would be nice to know your opinion on the entertainment etc, we have been on the ship many times so ,to us, general info not so important.

was in 005 on the celebration just after the balconies were fitted its a square sized cabin very good size, the bathroom is in the corner near the balcony doors, a brilliant sized balcony we didn't have a sun bed on at he time, but heard it does now, only has the one wardrobe though, plenty of drawer space its a twin bed cabin that converts to a double.

Its also in a corridor of its own, been in 001 and 011 on the spirit deluxe balcony cabins and found it no smaller than those, hope this helps

  11. ANything by the glass is included. Same drink in a can is charged (supplement if on AI).

There is loads of choice other than coke. You have fanta (orange) and sprite by the glass.

Then there is the mocktails and fruit juices.

My personal favourites were the virgin daiquiri's. The flavours were strawberry, raspberry, banana, lemon, lime and peach. It's just flavour and crushed ice, perfect after a hot afternoon in the sun.

the daiquiris virgin or alcoholic are not included in the ai on the spirit tough hey carry a supplement
