  1. Maris of 2 Intense on Dream has told me that the band currently on Majesty are Game if Tones and her female cousin is the singer

Can anyone report what they are like please?

Maris has told us to change our cruise on Majesty to Dream lol

    Also who's the CD please?

Tayler Mcculloch is the cd a trio called stattus have just recently gone on the majesty, they have been on d1 and d2 over the past year

  2.

We have done the same - were on D2s inaugural 2 weeks in May and have booked a naughty extra week in the Canaries late October. Looking forward to being back on D2 and are hoping to see Sebs show.

We saw his shows in the live room and he did a brilliant version of nessum dorma at the farewell show in the atrium on the last night in may, I think from his facebook page the sebby mercury shows are on every week in the broadway showlounge

  3. They had a new CD the day we boarded,,Paul something from the Majesty. He was good fun. Very sociable.

Wonder where Lewis has gone then ?!

lewis is back on the 4th of sept, paul evans is covering his break, lewis is great met him in 2010 as an ents host and he has done so well

Was so sad the sebby mercury shows started after we did our cruise, but heard they are going down so well

  4. But isn't Mein Schiff 2 not due till 2019 ?????

Dont know if you are part of the Spirit fraternity but the last two years thoms have done very well out of it ,always full to capacity, average prices well up, no such thing as cheap late deals, usually sold out well in advance, still a very successful well supported ship, pity that when the TUI game plan changed all the planned upgrade work stopped. Myself i would be quite happy to sail on it for the next ten years exactly as it is now.

Sorry but i dont agree with your spin theory, its pure economics , its making money without any big outlay or commitment

the spirit has the most returning passengers, 86% minimum per cruise

  5. In Flam the ship's dock about 200m flat walk from the station. Book train tickets online well in advance.

For Geiranger check the Visit Norway website. They have some very good excursion offers.

In Alesund you can take the mini train or HOHO from beside the ship.

In Bergen you can do HOHO from port or walk into centre. If weather is good you can take the cable car or funicular.

We have just returned from our second Norway cruise.

Make sure you take some warm layers and waterproof jackets. We also put on our waterproof over trousers in Bergen. So glad we did.

  6. Now official (been on the cards for a while) Spirit has got another years contract with Thomson.

    http://www.burtonmail.co.uk/thomson-cruises-extends-its-summer-spirit-into-2018/story-30422512-detail/story.html#ThZV7QBe92Zraxpe.99

Thomson Cruises has announced that it will extend fan-favourite ship Thomson Spirit's time with the fleet, sailing it until the end of summer 2018 as a result of overwhelming popular customer demand.

The award-winning ship, which was due to sail for the final time in November this year, will be based in Palma in April 2018, before moving to Malaga in May 2018. This means customers will have the chance to visit the best that the Western Mediterranean has to offer including big city favourites like Rome, Barcelona and Lisbon, as well as lesser-known Spanish gems like Tarragona, Mahon and Roses.

Managing director of Thomson Cruises, Richard Sofer, said: "When we announced that Thomson Spirit would be sailing with us for the last time this year we were overwhelmed by the response. Our customers really love Thomson Spirit – it's the longest serving member of our fleet and has a really homely feel, being one of our smallest ships.

"Extending her time in our fleet will give customers more chance to explore some of the Mediterranean's most stunning ports in Spain, Portugal, France and Italy - while experiencing the friendliest service at sea."

  7. So why do Thomson ships not have fridges?

Answer - because when Thomson acquired them they did not have them and the cost of fitting them would not be recovered by increased revenue. Or to put it another way not having fridges does not stop people cruising with Thomson.

Question - does Explorer have fridges?

fridges in deluxe or above cabins on discovery 1 and 2

  8. Doesn't matter. You go up the fjord in the morning and back down again in the evening so you see both sides, but why would you be in your cabin when cruising the the fjords? The scenery is too good to be inside. Make a point of being on deck to enjoy the unbelievable views.

we have booked grand suites on deck 8 so may be on balcony for the sail in

  9. which is the best side of the ship, port or starboard to be on to see the seven sisters on the sail in

Wonderful landscapes, do not miss the 7 sisters waterfalls. Sailing on the Splendor of the Seas in July 2000. Also something I will never forget was our excursion to Briksdal Glacier, the best salmon and caviar I have ever eaten.

  10. I think Hellesylt is just a drop off point for day excursions. We sailed up the fjord, dropped off some passengers to a local ferry and continued up the fjord to Geiranger.

Bergen - the floyenbann up the mountain if the weather is good

Geiranger - up the hill to the fjord centre and back down the path by the river, if the weather is good

Flam - go on the railway or a wander along the fjord shore, if the weather is good

Alesund - have a wander around, take the little train up the mountain and walk back down the several hundred stairs, if the weather is good

thanks, we have booked port side cabins, is that the best side for views

  11. Have done both d1 and d2 now this year and the errors they made on d1 have been sorted and d2 we found so much better, much more entertainment ie by the pool, they had brought the ice carving, cocktail demo, hotel staff demos back, friends who work onboard who had worked on d1 said they made a list of d1 problems and changed them for the better and it has worked, but from friends onboard d1 looks like things have changed onboard there from this summer, no ents manager its back to a cd but with 2 acds, it will be lewis power stannard was is brilliant

  12. the overhang ends at cabin 8042 which does effect the sun if this helps and on iberian treasures you mainly dock on the starboard side, apart from lisbon sorry can't help with jr suites, we got a brilliant upgrade price and went in grand suites and they were brilliant, you get the prem service in the jr suites ie prem check in at the port, 3 items ironed per week in first 24 hours and also 1 continental breakfast each per week on a day of your choice, the ship has left gibraltar later than in the brochure time, we left at 21.15 and the last it left at 23:45

  13. We did the shuttle to porto it is every 30 mins but be aware to maybe not try to return about dinner time, our trip was the first visit and all the drivers went on a dinner break, the company had not informed destination services that this would happen, so there was about 4 coaches needed for the passengers waiting it was £6 return, we after complaining we got refunded, the dest services manager had a meeting with intercruises the next day in lisbon and insisted they got this issue sorted

Lisbon there are lots of tuk tuks offering tours just outside the port, also this are in porto too a great way to see what the trams and buses cannot get

  14. Hi , am going on Discovery to Caribbean in December '17 with family , just enquiring if anyone knows if there's anywhere for the young adults ( they stay up into the night, unlike us!) to get a bite to eat ? We've been used to 24/7 pizza bars on recent cruises so I'm wondering if there's anywhere they can grab a bite whilst chatting to other young people , who will inevitably , also be up into the small hours !

    Thanks for any info .

the late night food is in the glass house but only served til 1am

  15. Hi looking to book a junior suite for ta crossing Nov 17. Do I go for a side cabin port side or aft. I want a balcony that gets plenty of sun with a lounger tia

the overhang stops at cabins 8042/ 8542 the aft cabins will go quick, and if there are only 2 of you, book a 2 berth cabin as you could be moved if you book a 4 berth cabin

  16. Thanks for the info. We call at Vigo, Porto, Lisbon, Cadiz and Gibraltar.

We've only been on one other cruise recently (P&O last year), where we toured most of the ports independently because they were easy to access from the ship. We'd probably opt to do the same this time, too, if possible (and without too much stress about getting back on time, lol!).

From what I've read, Porto looks to be the port where we'd be most likely to take an excursion on this itinerary, but I'm very open to any other suggestions!

    TIA

lisbon just outside the port are tuk tuks offering tours

gibratlar mini buses offering tours too
