  1. We bought RCL at $14.00 many years ago. Before there were any perks on cruises. In those first few years we were able to utilize quite a lot of shareholder credit. One year over $1250.00. Even though we don't have the shareholder credit anymore, the investment has been has been very good.

And they are sailing on Celebrity? Don't think there are many.

With all due respect, you don't know how passengers live.

Maybe they plan and save for many years to sail, or celebrate a special milestone in their lives.

I never assume that all passengers live the same lifestyle as myself. By meeting people onboard, I learn and enrich my own experience.

  3. Just to clarify....I have been sailing Celebrity since it was Chandris so I am not new Zenith......As far as seeing Zeniths in Michaels, I was once on a cruise with 20 Zeniths+spouses and it was impossible to miss them all....Taking away from the overall Michaels club experience. Glad you didn't notice it. Safe sails!

Curious...how did the Zenith passengers take anything away from your Michael's Club experience? And how did you actually know what their loyalty tier was?

I find Michael's Club a comfortable spot to enjoy a cocktail and get together with our friends. I've never felt that some segment of the passengers there negated my experience.

  4. Along well a separate bedroom, there is a sofa bed that can accommodate 2 adults. There is also additional closet space in the living room space. But the shower and tub is located attached to the bedroom. The 2nd bathroom only has a toilet and sink facility.

It's doable, but just be informed prior to sailing what the space offers.

Your entire post was well said.

Things are changing. The changes are intentional. We each have to decide how Celebrity's degraded cruise experience will affect our cruising plans, now and in the future.

Things have been changing for quite some time. Some good...some just OK.

I choose not to think of everything as being degraded. The only thing constant in life is change.

  6. Throughout the years there have been many memorable acts of kindness.

But one stands out. It was 2008, way before the venue of Luminae. The coffee in the MDR wasn't very good. We casually mentioned this to our Butler. Now he always brought us delicious coffee every morning, and we were perplexed as to why the MDR couldn't provide the same quality.

One evening after dinner, to our surprise, our wonderful Butler appeared with a carafe of the delicious coffee. All prepared by him!

  7. VERY interesting. People who sale Celebrity bemoan the "old days" when the experience was so much "classier" and "luxurious" and some mistakenly feel less expensive. Yet these are often the very same people who praise the relaxed dress code, less formal atmosphere, and more kids. You simply can not have both.

I am one of those that cruised Celebrity in the "ole days", and don't particularly like the relaxed atmosphere now.

There was a Champagne and Caviar Bar. It was probably eliminated due to lack of passenger use.

Throughout the past years, I've seen many changes. Some are tried and ultimately eliminated, and some are redesigned and introduced again.

I don't moan about it...just adapt and enjoy.

  8. I don't know how "crazy" this was, but it was entertaining.

There was a man who was traveling with his "teddy bear". Each evening we saw he and his bear dressed exactly in the same outfits. One night we were on the elevator, along with he and his "friend", and he proceeded to say, "Say hello to the nice people", while moving the bear in a bouncy manner.

    Friendly...yes. Unusual...definitely!

  9. I have story that I didn't actually witness, but it was well known on this board.

A couple that cruised with Celebrity often, would routinely boast on this board how they would be given perks and upgrades (while onboard) through their unethical antics.

Their downfall was posting "prior" to their next cruise, what their latest scam was going to be. This was alerted to Celebrity by a fellow poster and this couple was banned from cruising on both Celebrity and Royal Caribbean.

  10. Some good examples, many of which I unfortunately have seen (I still wonder why I even consider eating in the buffet).

The craziest thing I saw was a few years back where a gentleman wearing a Captain's Hat walked around the ship playing his Accordian. He was definitely a guest as I saw him at various venues/locations throughout the cruise sans hat/accordian.

I too saw the "Accordian Guy"!

On one Transatlantic, there was a man always with a stuffed teddy bear...dressed in clothing exactly like his own. Formal night, the two were in matching tuxes...very chic.
