  1. Me too but having a daughter in Edinburgh I have a free room. Very useful during August for the Festival.
  2. ‘Kitchin’ Edinburgh is always busy with tourists, not surprising given its history. Edinburgh Castle situated right in the middle of the city on the Royal Mile which leads down to Hollyrood Palace and the Scottish Parliament building. For those interested in whisky, Johnny Walker Experience is fantastic. Recommend the ‘Journey of Flavour’ tour. Definitely worth having a few days before or after the cruise in Edinburgh.
  3. I remember now. I don't think we ate later, perhaps a nibble. Certainly had a drink though.
  4. Went on this trip last October but struggling to remember the timings. We had something to eat in the Colonnade before we left which must have opened early to accommodate those going on the trip. Sure we were back at around 9.30. Excellent trip and wine and nibbles were on offer. We were told we would receive an individual photo of our visit but despite photos being taken, no photos received.
  5. Sorry I was a bit ‘wooly’ with my earlier response. That is correct on Quest although on Encore and Ovation the V1 are on deck 7. They don't have metal on balcony but they have no bath. The V2 suites on these 2 ships have metal on balcony My understanding is that Seabourn have changed the classification of suites and V1 to V6 are now V1 to V4. The result is that some deck plans available on line are out of date. On the old categorisation on my OB booking on Encore last year we effectively received a V6 suite on deck 8.
  6. Never had an issue with OB. Always got better than V1, in-fact on our last cruise we got V4. Apart from a very few suites (4/6 have no bath and some have less glass on balcony) they are all exactly the same although obviously on different decks and positions on the deck - forward, midships etc. Fortunately my wife and I are good sailors are not concerned where our suite so.
  7. I started reading this thread last week and was looking forward to hearing abiut the trip. Despite Two separate threads recently discussing whether the MDR is open for breakfast and lunch 😴, this thread is following the same pattern. What amazes me most is that the people who want silver service for every seem to be the same people who don’t appropriately when required. Anyway, I will be taking a back seat from Cruise ‘criticisms’ for now as it is too depressing. I will be looking forward instead to a positive cruise in November eating as the mood takes me.
  8. Look on page 2. Item entitled - Ovation Update on Restaurant. It should cover everything and more.
  9. Could be worse. I have seen Royal Club sometimes which is awful. A trick which sometimes works is to ask for low calorie tonic (Fever Tree, Refreshingly Light). It should bring a fresh tonic rather than a pour from a 330cl tin and less fattening as well.😀
  10. Picked up at Athens airport last year with absolutely no issues. Straight to Grande Bretange hotel which was fabulous. Our driver was excellent, spoke perfect English and was happy to provide great tips.
  11. In my opinion, best bar on Ovation and Encore. Sit at bar or at tables. Not for TK diners only. Pianist/singer plays in the evening.
  12. That is very good. Barbados were similarly helpful to the cruise industry when covid hit. When other Caribbean ports closed, Barbados welcomed all. We enjoyed some of our trip in Sihanoukville but it has very much been turned into a building site for Chinese casinos. Having spent four fantastic days in Vietnam it was a bit disappointing.
  13. Fantastic news. Another bottle of champagne is in order. No one will recognise you at dinner tonight. Hope you managed to get round in your husbands shoes and slippers today?
  14. The food must have been cold. Not my idea of fun, but I don't even enjoy a bbq. Much prefer a buffet🤭.
  15. Port is best side coming from Singapore for sure. Means you will have land views when available.
  16. We did Ovation, Hong Kong to Singapore in January 2019 and we had a fantastic time. We were unlucky in Halong Bay as we had fog😩. Our only disappointing stop was Sihanoukville in Cambodia. I don't think it showed Cambodia in a particularly good light. We stayed a few nights each end and enjoyed both HK and Singapore. We sailed Encore in October 22 and did not come across any covid related issues and we were very happy with everything on board. At that time they had a lot of trainee staff on board but they were in addition to fully trained staff so we had no service issues. In August last year we did Celebrity to Alaska and whilst we had a great time, it wasn't Seabourn. And if you need more reassurance we are sailing again with Seabourn in November. I am a mean Scotsman and never want to waste a penny😀.
  17. Well done on maintaining your cool and having a sense of humour🤞for Tromso.
  18. They should be able to get them to Alesund by Wednesday. No direct flights but should happen🤞
  19. Oh well. Observation Bar it will have to be.
  20. How does anyone know they have covid? There is no requirement to test anymore. You might show some symptoms which are simply a ‘cold’. I experienced covid and it had very little effect on me and I only knew it was covid via a test, 5 days through and was clear 2 days later. I subsequently got a cold which lasted 7 weeks. I tested regularly during that period. The cold was far more debilitating. We just need to get on with life.
  21. We have a few Seabourn cruises under our belt but always on Ovation and Encore. Our favourite bar on board Ovation/Encore is the TK bar enjoying great grown up cocktails and listening to the piano player/singer. Our next trip is on Quest and I understand the TK bar on that ship is very small. Can you drink in the TK bar on Quest when not dining or is really only for diners in the restaurant?
  22. My wife and I are late eaters (seldom before 8.00pm) and have never been in a position where food has run out and not been able to enjoy our first choice.
  23. I get it completely. They are not cheap but despite all the complaints you read on this forum I think they are worth the money but only if you can afford it. Do the lottery, someone has to win😁. Congratulations on your anniversaries.
