I have to wonder if anyone would notice or care if an ordinary Joe with no status dropped their carryon in their cabin.

Its a good chance there will be no S&S cards for non priority guests

Port Parking for carnival is good. You said brilliance. They don’t use the Carnival garage. They use this open whale lot which is less good. I would think you could drop your bags off. But I don’t know what the traffic flow is like at Julia Street terminal. I don’t know how they turn around. That may be a question for someone who uses Julia street.

Fulton likes you to drop your bags downstairs before you park anyway. You could even drop them right where the shuttle parks and just have one person stand with them while the other parks. They have people to load and unload luggage. They load the shuttles along this left side (facing the river) of the building. Then you should be able to make a right and enter the garage.

The one time we used Julia St, 2 Carnival ships in port on the same day, our car and many others were broken into. When I told the parking attendant, he told me "This is New Orleans, what do you expect?"

does this mean I have "my time dining"?

Do I get to make a reservation for a certain time, say 6 pm or 6:20 pm, like we do on Princess and RCI through the app?  How does it work on Carnival? We'll be on the Horizon.

Request a table on the app when you are ready to eat.

I have been to Freeport 2 or 3 times, but I have never ventured further than the port area.

I am cruising with some new first time cruisers in a few months, and we are going to Freeport. Can we take take a cab to "town" and walk around and visit any free beaches or anything? Is that possible in Freeport? Is there even a town to go to on our own? If it is, are there plenty of cabs to get us back to the ship?

I doubt they will want a true excursion so I was just wondering if this was an option.

    Thanks!

There is shopping at Port Lucaya. The taxi that takes you there will most likely wait there to return you to the ship.

This may be evident but im a pretty big Parrothead. Probably world class. Not bragging just is what it proverbially is.

Big thumbs up to CCL for including some Jimmy Buffett songs on the buffet background music.

Anyone have a teeny tiny thing that is big to you?

On recent long cruise i heard his songs most every day. Some were pretty deep album cuts, not hit songs.  Brought a smile to my face every time.

For years i failed to hear a single recorded or live Jimmy song.  No biggie...like i said this is a very small thing in the big picture.

But i am thankful.  Fins up!

I still remember being surprised when I heard "No Plane on Sunday" in Waterworks on Dream in 2014. Great song, but a very deep cut.

We were there in April, and i have to be honest - i was really disappointed (i was so looking forward to it as our other Costa Maya stop the year before was cancelled). It wasn't their fault, but the seaweed was AWFUL, and imo they shouldn't have opened that day. They had been texting us in the weeks before we went, telling us that the seaweed was bad and they would monitor it and if they felt it was too bad they would close for the day and notify us. So when they DIDN'T close, we were excited and figured it would be ok. Well, it was definitely not ok. Their beach was covered in stinky seaweed, it was impossible to get in the water at all, so we sat on beach chairs in the sand for a while, had lunch (which was great!) then got an early taxi back to the port.

It was just too gross to sit there all day.

I have read so many great things about the owners, and this resort, and i SO wanted to love it, but i was irritated that they chose to remain open and it just wasn't a good visit for us at all. I understand that this is their livlihood, so i feel bad for the negative review, but i'm just being honest.

We'll be back in Costa Maya in 2 weeks, and now i don't know where we're going to go! I think the seaweed crisis has passed, tho, so we'll probably just find a beach close to the port.

Did they not show you pictures of current conditions and give you the option of a refund before you boarded the transportation to the club?

    Hi,

Did you go to Kukumba beach? how was it? How did you get there?

    Thanks

It was a great day, fun water activities and good prices on food and drink. We got there on a minivan from a tour company working at the cruise terminal. We paid them one price which included transportation and admission. Next time there we will probably hire a taxi.

It's been years since we were there.  Unless things have changed for a beach you're better off doing an excursion to one of the cays. Not sure what's open at Old Belize but it's a manmade beach set up primarily for locals on the weekends.

We ended up going. It was a fun day. Plenty of cruise passengers and affordable food and drink.
