  1. Hello, we booked a cruise with my in laws for February 2019, 3 separate rooms. We separated our 3 young children into the rooms so that we could get 3 side by side balconies (ship we are on does not have 5 people non-suite rooms evidently).

    Room 1-

    Husband

    Me

    Child1

    Room 2-

    MIL

    FIL

    Child2

    Room 3-

    SIL

    Boyfriend

    Child3

Anyway, The Boyfriend just broke up with SIL and now we dont have someone to take his place in room #3. What can we do? Do we have to try to find someone to fill his spot or have a large penalty? Or will Child 3 take his “spot” for the fare he was under? Not sure if I’m wording that correctly. His fare was around $550, Child3 fare was $150ish. Can someone help walk us through this? I intend on calling Carnival tomorrow, but would like to give SIL some kind of answer tonight because she is quite upset and wondering about this.

    Thanks!

The promotion you booked under will make a difference, hopefully this was not an Early Saver booking.

  2. I'm going out on a limb here but if I remember correctly, there isn't stools at the bar. The steakhouse is more formal and you will be seated at a table that is already set up with plates, silverware, etc.

I don't remember every ship we have sailed on, but Sunshine and Dream definitely have stools at the bar in the steakhouse.

  3. Thanks! Are both of these restaurants in walking distance of the ship? As of right now, we aren't planning an excursion. We just plan on walking around Nassau near the ship.

It is walkable, but a long walk. The local bus, minivan really, will take you there for a cheap fare. Riding with the locals is a fun thing to do out of the country. Due to some miscommunication on our last trip to Nassua, we ended up with a free tour of the island when we missed our stop.

  4. Is there a way to find out what the movie schedule is for an upcoming cruise? We will be on the Carnival Vista from July 14-22 and my husband is curious as to what movies will be playing.

You can ask John Heald on his Facebook page. The Dive-In schedule for July has been released. IMAX movies change weekly, he will not know until the 12th or 13th what will be on your voyage.

  5. Anyone know how to request a small table, or better yet, a table for two, in the MDR? You used to be able to request this during booking, but I can't seem to find a way now.

Contact John Heald 4 days before you sail on his Facebook page, include your dining time and cabin number.

  6. The last time I cruised without the Solo Supplement was a few years ago. I was surprised at how many couples booked 2 rooms so they could have an extra bathroom. So probably they end up with too many sold so doesn't make financial sense for them to do anymore.

Or a balcony cabin on both sides of the ship, you always have the view you prefer that way. Why would you not book 2 cabins, if they price was the same as 1?

  7. Also, on most, if not all ships, there is a smoking area on the Starboard side (right-hand side as you're facing forward) of the Lobby Deck (Deck 3). There are chairs with small tables and ash trays out there. Stop by the Atrium bar, get a beverage, then go sit outside and have your smoke and a drink.

The Dream class does not have any outside spaces on deck 3, that's why the smoking area is on deck 5.

  8. Carnival Corp. owns Puerta Maya. If there are 3 or less Carnival Corp. ships in Cozumel on any given day, they will dock at Puerta Maya. We docked at the International Pier several years ago before the third spot was added at Puerta Maya. There were 3 Carnival ships there that day.

  9. We are a group of 16 looking for a walking tour in Nassau. We want to visit the zoo, queens staircase, pirate museum and anything else along the way. Any idea on how to handle transportation? Can we taxi to the zoo then walk back to hit all of the sites? Thanks for any recommendations!

You should have no problem doing that. The local bus will drop you off about 500 yards from the zoo.

  10. I have a room that is Port side of Elation. I am curious to know whether it is typical for Elation to dock Port side facing the shore, or Starboard side. I don't care which side I have either way, except that I would not mind having a room that wakes up to seeing the beach the day we dock.

I think I've seen photos of Elation docking either way. In your experience, which has it been. It might be a crapshoot and dependent on factors like weather, etc., but if there is a preferring docking side, I'd like to choose that one.

Half Moon is a tender port, the ship will drop anchor and you will be taken ashore on small boats.

  11. This is our first time with FTTF and we are unsure of what time we should arrive to the port. We are seasoned cruisers and understand the check in procedures with new arrival times but this is our first splurge on FTTF. What time will the port open? What time is best to get there to avoid waiting forever for them to start boarding? We usually pick the earliest arrival time we can and show up right on time but I wasn’t sure what is best to do with FTTF! Thanks in advance!!

Earlier this month we arrived at 11:30 and were handed our cards just as boarding began at 11:45. Perfect timing, we never even sat down, we walked straight on after getting our cards.
