  1. If you paid fully by credit card, you will probably get a refund fairly soon. However, it's not so good if you pay with a combination of OBC and credit card. They refund to the OBC balance first and only refund to credit card if your total excursion purchase is less than what you paid by credit card. Example: I have $500 OBC. I purchase $600 in excursions paying $100 by credit card. I cancel $400 in excursions leaving a $200 balance. Since my excursion balance $200 is more than the $100 I paid by credit card, they don't refund my credit card.
  2. I have not been successful at reserving the complimentary first night dining on the app in advance. It always asks for a credit card. The app recognizes my Premier credits but not the first night credit. I recently reserved one for the first night because I will be arrive in Quebec City until 4:18 pm. I reserved for two couples - both in suites. The app took my reservation without charging my credit card, but all four of our Premier credits are now gone. I don't think I'll have any trouble getting them back onboard, and I'd rather deal with them than trying to get a credit card refund onboard. I've never had a problem reserving first night reservations onboard. However, I haven't sailed on Princess since the pandemic, so I don't have any recent experience. The number of people with Premier may make it more difficult. I also don't have experience getting to the ship as late as I will in Quebec City. One of the suite amenities is priority specialty restaurant reservations. I believe they keep some first night reservations available for suite passengers onboard.
  3. What difference does it make? You can go to Guest Services anytime during the voyage and make a cash or credit card payment against your folio balance.
  4. This answer is for AT&T in the United States. I don't know if it's the same for your carrier. If you have airplane mode on and wifi calling enabled, then you can make or receive calls anywhere in the world with airplane mode and wifi at no charge (as long as you have free wifi). The person on the other end makes a normal phone call to a US number or receives a normal phone call from a US number. It doesn't matter whether they're using cellular or wifi.
  5. What's wrong with the 2025 Princess Alaska itineraries? I'm booked on the Ultimate Alaska round trip Seattle departing on 6 May 2025. It looks like the best Alaska itinerary I've seen in a long time.
  6. It depends on your itinerary. It may or may not be legal under the Passenger Vessel Services Act. Round trip Seattle: It is not legal. Your cruise would be from one US port (Ketchikan) to a different US port (Seattle) without a distant foreign port. Round trip Vancouver: It is legal. Your cruise would be from a US port (Ketchikan) to a foreign port (Vancouver). Northbound Vancouver to Whittier: It is not legal. Your cruise would be from one US port (Ketchikan) to a different US port (Whittier) without a distant foreign port. Note that a one-way cruise from one US port to another US port requires a distant foreign port. Any port in Canada is not a distant foreign port. A round trip cruise back to the same US port only requires a foreign port (such as Victoria). A cruise starting or ending in a foreign port is legal. If you are on a round trip Vancouver port, you would need to get permission from Princess in advance to join the ship in Ketchikan. They would have to clear it with customs and immigration to make sure it was OK. If they approve it, you would not receive any money back for the days you would miss.
  7. How do you know they never checked? With medallions, they would know who is in the room at any time and whether or not they are platinum, elite, or suite. After all, what's the point of the medallion if Big Brother isn't going to be watching us all the time.😉
  8. At breakfast each morning (at Sabatini's), they brought SIL a tray with a selection of gluten-free pastries each morning to choose from. She said some of them were very good.
  9. You can use a prepaid card or cash to settle your onboard account at Guest Services. However, you cannot use a prepaid card on your account during the cruise. If you don't give them a credit or debit card, you will need to give them a cash deposit. You can put a credit card on your account to guarantee the charges and then pay the balance at Guest Services with a prepaid card and/or with cash before leaving the ship.
  10. PCL did not convert Shareholder and FCD OBC from US dollars to Australian dollars. They are clear in the description of Shareholder OBC and in the form for purchasing FCD that the OBC is dependent on the shipboard onboard currency. They do not pretend that it is the same amount.
  11. If your phone connects to a cellular network outside of your service area, you will be charged for any calls or texts. Depending on your plan and your location, those charges may be large. This is true even if cellular data is turned off. If you have wifi calling from your service provider, then you still have a working phone using wifi while in airplane mode.
  12. It is a reception each evening for Platinum, Elite, and Suite passengers. It has some snacks and some drink specials. The drink specials don't make a difference to those with Plus or Premier, but the snacks are sometimes good.
  13. They will be able to attend even if they're not with you, since they're in a suite.
  14. If your phone is in airplane mode, then it is not connected to a cellular network. Turning on airplane mode turns off cellular voice and cellular data. Then you turn wifi back on but you don't turn cellular back on. I don't know why people were charged for cellular despite being in airplane mode. It was either a technical problem with their phone or user error. The checking for a stronger signal only happens if you have both cellular and wifi on - not if one is turned off.
  15. Depending on the timing of the change, you may need to get a card to open the other cabin before the change. Ask Guest Services.
  16. You need to double check your phone chargers. Most phone chargers are dual voltage, so they don't need a transformer. There should be small print on the charger stating the voltage requirements.
  17. Calls are unlimited only when placed within the service area covered by your plan. They are not unlimited when placed outside of those areas.
  18. For Princess, this fee applies to any cruise that uses Australian dollars as its onboard currency. It doesn't apply to cruises with US dollar onboard currency. Those are the only two onboard currencies that Princess uses.
  19. I believe a "zero forex markup credit card or debit card" means a card with no foreign transaction fees. Many credit cards in the United States charge a 3% foreign transaction fee, but some do not. Note that some of these cards charge the fee for any charge from outside the United States even if the charge is in US dollars. You get these cards the same way as any other credit or debit card. You just need to check the fine print to see if they charge a foreign transaction fee. You should always pay in local currency and let the credit card company convert the charge to US dollars. Don't let the foreign merchant or machine do the conversion. They probably won't give you as good a deal on the conversion.
  20. In the United States, we usually have unlimited calls included. However, that includes only calls within the United States. Some plans include calls in some other countries, and some do not. Cellular services outside of our service area cost extra - sometimes a lot extra depending on the specific plan. I have no idea what an Australian plan would charge for cellular service outside Australia, so your case may be completely different from mine.
  21. That's fine if it is attached properly and if the outlet plate screw is grounded. But how do you know if the outlet plate screw is grounded? I would not recommend using anything but a 3-prong outlet on a ship for anything requiring a ground.
  22. No, you should not use a 3-prong to 2-prong adapter to plug into an ungrounded outlet. If your device is designed for a 3-prong grounded outlet, it could be unsafe to plug it into an ungrounded one. However, CPAP units and chargers normally do not have 3-prong grounded plugs. You should not plug a 110 volt device into a 220 volt outlet. However, most CPAP units and chargers are dual voltage.
  23. They don't keep the credit card information you use to make payments - they just use it for the single payment. When I was making payments by phone to purchase Princess Vacation Protection for three different cruises, the Princess representative asked for my credit card number three times - once for each cruise. The credit card for onboard purchases is different. They store that number until after the cruise.
  24. Look at the expiration date in your Cruise Personalizer. Does it say "Book By" or "Sail By". It is usually very explicit. In addition to the FCC which says "Sail By", I have a FCD that says "Book By". If the written description in your Cruise Personalizer says one thing and a Princess employee says something else, I would believe the written description. Princess employees have been known to get it wrong.
  25. I cancelled a cruise last year using "Cancel for Any Reason". My FCC has the following information on the Cruise Personalizer: Description: Princess Travelcare Earned: 09/26/22 Expires: Sail By 12/31/23 Note that the expiration date is the end of the calendar year after the year of cancellation. Also note that the expiration date is "Sail By" - not "Book By".
