  1. How mobility impaired are you? It makes a difference in a tender port. Also, do you have someone traveling with you who can help you? (I'm not asking for you to answer these questions online. I'm just asking the questions that you need to know the answer to in order to look at your options.) If you use a cane or collapsible walker, no problem. The crew will help you on and off the tender. They will take the collapsible walker on the tender. If you use a collapsible wheelchair, Princess will take it on the tender. They will also help you on and off the tender. You would need to be able to walk a short distance without the wheelchair. If you are wheelchair confined, then you probably can't take the tender. if you have a motorized wheelchair or scooter, they probably won't be able to put it on the tender. My wife uses a cane and has no problems on a tender.
  2. It makes a difference where you live. Do you live in the United States? If so, and you book with a refundable deposit, you can either refare or cancel and rebook it the price goes down. You can also cancel and rebook after you purchase your FCD if the fare hasn't gone up. Unfortunately, our friends in some other countries don't have this opportunity.
  3. The tour was quite intensive. It involved a lot of areas of the ship and a lot of ship's personnel. They can't give very many of them, so they have to limit them somehow. In my opinion, charging is one of the fairer ways to decide who gets to go.
  4. They may not be able to order it for your cabin, but you can. You can order it for four and join them, or you can order it for two and leave them along with it. If you want to pay for it, fine. If they are paying for it, they can go to Guest Services and pay for the item on your folio. If you want to give them access to your balcony when you're not there, you can go to Guest Services and ask for them to have access. As long as someone from your cabin is there to authorize it, they can provide the access.
  5. Welcome to Princess. You cannot pick what night to go to the Chef's Table. The ship will schedule it. If you want to go to the Chef's Table, you need to request it first thing after you get on the ship. In my opinion, format nights are not the best ones to go to specialty restaurants. Princess usually has their fancier meals (lobstar, surf & turf, etc.) on formal nights. I would recommend looking at the MDR menus before deciding. I don't know when they will be available on the app, but they will certainly all be available when you're onboard. If they're not all on the app, ask a head waiter in the MDR, and he can show them to you. The MDR has more variety than the specialty restaurants, since it has a different menu each night. The specialty restaurants. I recommend you try the MDR and both specialty restaurants and then decide what you want to do for the rest of the cruse. Since you said you have two specialty restaurant dinners, I suspect you have booked the Premier Fare, including alcoholic beverages up to $20 each. If you drink wine with dinner, I recommend you go to Vines Wine Bar on Deck 5 before dinner. They have a better selection of wine than the MDR or the specialty restaurants. Have a glass of wine before dinner, and then take another one to go to and carry it in to dinner with you. They will pour it into a different glass to carry out, since they have special glasses in Vines that you can't take elsewhere. If you are eating in the Michelangelo Dining Room on Deck 5, then it's a short walk from Vines to the dining room.
  6. Which excursion were you on? The 2.25 hour Ancient Standing Stones excursion scheduled only a 15 minute photo stop at the Cliffs of Yesnaby. It should have had a 35-minute guided tour of the Ring of Brodgar. Are you saying that you only stayed 15 minutes there? If so, they did not provide what they promised. If you didn't get what is promised, the best thing to do is to complain to the Shore Excursions desk on the ship. They will sometimes provide a partial refund if the tour did provide what was promised, and they can take action to deal with the vender for future tours. There's not much anyone can do after the cruise.
  7. I've been on several Princess cruises, and DW and I have visited medical several times. However, I have never seen the ship's doctor hit on any of the passenger women. I suspect if he did that he would be off the ship at the next port.
  8. Princess gives detailed times in Excursion Details in the Cruise Personalizer. Did the times on your excursion match the times in the decription? One of the problems with bus excursions is that they always spend either more time than we want or less time than we want at any specific spot. I don't think it is specific to Princess. Princess does not run the excursions - they use local third-party companies to do so. Other cruise lines use the same companies, so I suspect there wouldn't be much difference.
  9. The details are on the Princess website under Our Cruise Drink Packages. The Plus Beverage Package and Premier Beverage Package terms & conditions both state "The package includes . . . fountain sodas . . .". They do not mention cans of soda, so canned soda would not be included. The Zero Alcohol Package terms & conditions explicitly state "The package includes . . . fountain sodas, cans of soda, . . .". The Classic Soda Package terms & conditions state "The package includes all, fountain sodas, and cans of soda . . ." So the person with the Plus or Premier package will be paying extra for the canned sodas that are included with the Zero Alcohol or Classic Soda package. I did find one discrepancy in the terms & conditions. Both the Plus and Premier beverage package terms & conditions say "The package provides a 25% discount on the following excluded items: all bottles of wine and one-liter bottles of water." There is no mention of any discount on canned soda. However, the summary descriptions of both the Plus and Premier beverage packages both state they include "24% discount on large bottles of water and cans of soda." So the discount on canned soda is included in the summary descriptions of the packages but not in the detailed terms & conditions. I know everyone will be shocked at seeing an inconsistency in Princess documentation.
  10. If you just want sodas and mocktails, you could buy the Classic Soda Package for $17.69 per day, leaving you with $7. However, if you also wanted specialty coffees, the Zero-Alcohol Drink Package would cost $35.39 per day. So you would be better off with Plus fare even without any alcohol.
  11. Princess has detailed information in Pre-Cruise FAQs under Travel Document Requirements.
  12. OP stated "We did upgrade to the Plus package."
  13. This response is not relevant to OP's question. OP will NOT be charged $5 for room service.
  14. If you paid fully by credit card, you will probably get a refund fairly soon. However, it's not so good if you pay with a combination of OBC and credit card. They refund to the OBC balance first and only refund to credit card if your total excursion purchase is less than what you paid by credit card. Example: I have $500 OBC. I purchase $600 in excursions paying $100 by credit card. I cancel $400 in excursions leaving a $200 balance. Since my excursion balance $200 is more than the $100 I paid by credit card, they don't refund my credit card.
  15. I have not been successful at reserving the complimentary first night dining on the app in advance. It always asks for a credit card. The app recognizes my Premier credits but not the first night credit. I recently reserved one for the first night because I will be arrive in Quebec City until 4:18 pm. I reserved for two couples - both in suites. The app took my reservation without charging my credit card, but all four of our Premier credits are now gone. I don't think I'll have any trouble getting them back onboard, and I'd rather deal with them than trying to get a credit card refund onboard. I've never had a problem reserving first night reservations onboard. However, I haven't sailed on Princess since the pandemic, so I don't have any recent experience. The number of people with Premier may make it more difficult. I also don't have experience getting to the ship as late as I will in Quebec City. One of the suite amenities is priority specialty restaurant reservations. I believe they keep some first night reservations available for suite passengers onboard.
  16. What difference does it make? You can go to Guest Services anytime during the voyage and make a cash or credit card payment against your folio balance.
  17. This answer is for AT&T in the United States. I don't know if it's the same for your carrier. If you have airplane mode on and wifi calling enabled, then you can make or receive calls anywhere in the world with airplane mode and wifi at no charge (as long as you have free wifi). The person on the other end makes a normal phone call to a US number or receives a normal phone call from a US number. It doesn't matter whether they're using cellular or wifi.
  18. What's wrong with the 2025 Princess Alaska itineraries? I'm booked on the Ultimate Alaska round trip Seattle departing on 6 May 2025. It looks like the best Alaska itinerary I've seen in a long time.
  19. It depends on your itinerary. It may or may not be legal under the Passenger Vessel Services Act. Round trip Seattle: It is not legal. Your cruise would be from one US port (Ketchikan) to a different US port (Seattle) without a distant foreign port. Round trip Vancouver: It is legal. Your cruise would be from a US port (Ketchikan) to a foreign port (Vancouver). Northbound Vancouver to Whittier: It is not legal. Your cruise would be from one US port (Ketchikan) to a different US port (Whittier) without a distant foreign port. Note that a one-way cruise from one US port to another US port requires a distant foreign port. Any port in Canada is not a distant foreign port. A round trip cruise back to the same US port only requires a foreign port (such as Victoria). A cruise starting or ending in a foreign port is legal. If you are on a round trip Vancouver port, you would need to get permission from Princess in advance to join the ship in Ketchikan. They would have to clear it with customs and immigration to make sure it was OK. If they approve it, you would not receive any money back for the days you would miss.
  20. How do you know they never checked? With medallions, they would know who is in the room at any time and whether or not they are platinum, elite, or suite. After all, what's the point of the medallion if Big Brother isn't going to be watching us all the time.😉
  21. At breakfast each morning (at Sabatini's), they brought SIL a tray with a selection of gluten-free pastries each morning to choose from. She said some of them were very good.
  22. You can use a prepaid card or cash to settle your onboard account at Guest Services. However, you cannot use a prepaid card on your account during the cruise. If you don't give them a credit or debit card, you will need to give them a cash deposit. You can put a credit card on your account to guarantee the charges and then pay the balance at Guest Services with a prepaid card and/or with cash before leaving the ship.
  23. PCL did not convert Shareholder and FCD OBC from US dollars to Australian dollars. They are clear in the description of Shareholder OBC and in the form for purchasing FCD that the OBC is dependent on the shipboard onboard currency. They do not pretend that it is the same amount.
  24. If your phone connects to a cellular network outside of your service area, you will be charged for any calls or texts. Depending on your plan and your location, those charges may be large. This is true even if cellular data is turned off. If you have wifi calling from your service provider, then you still have a working phone using wifi while in airplane mode.
  25. It is a reception each evening for Platinum, Elite, and Suite passengers. It has some snacks and some drink specials. The drink specials don't make a difference to those with Plus or Premier, but the snacks are sometimes good.
