  1. Currently on the Discovery and the speed makes the internet practically unusable. Here’s a recent speed test.
  2. The ship’s wifi stays on, but with the dreadful internet speed we’ve encountered while cruising with Princess lately, I’m not sure it matters much.
  3. This is probably the correct answer. Most of these companies contract with local companies for pickup and delivery. We had a problem in Cape Town with a different company which promised a pickup in a specific time window, but failed to show up. Fortunately we had friends who could take our bag to their hotel for later pickup (it took days). If Luggage Forward doesn't normally service the Azores, I can see them having issues. However, the wait for a pickup was just terrible, and Luggage Forward should have advised the OP that they couldn't assist them. @TDB1910 I hope you are better now, and also welcome to Cruise Critic.
  4. It was a Heathrow airport luggage cart, picked up when we were dropped off at T2. We loaded it up, walked through the garage to the hotel, checked in, and we’re told by the hotel staff to use it to take our luggage up to our room (and keep it overnight). Our carry on bags had our change of cloths, so we didn’t need to unload our large bags from the cart until we dropped them off when we checked in for our flight home the next morning.
  5. We did this in August (Sapphire Bombay distillery tour). We left the luggage out the night before, collected it the next morning, and took it to the tour bus. After the distillery visit (very nice, by the way), the bus made its way to Heathrow. It stopped at all the terminals. We were flying out the next day from T2 on United, so we booked a room at the Hilton Garden Inn. It’s a short walk from the drop off spot at T2 through the parking garage. The hotel lets you keep the luggage cart in your room, so getting back to the terminal is easy. The restaurant at the hotel was not great, but we loved the bar upstairs where we could watch the planes coming and going. We’d stay there again.
  6. In the past it has been, but we haven’t used it since we reached the elite laundry perk. It was always the best day to use the self service laundry. The irons were used a lot by folks removing the wrinkles caused by clothes packed in suitcases.
  7. We're in a Club Class mini-suite, so our offers were for suites. They're a bit pricey for my taste...
  8. I can't seem to get the app to allow me to look at the checklists for any cruise other than the our next cruise. We have two other future cruises and if I tap on them in my profile and try to get to the checklist, it goes back to the first one on the list. I'm sure there's a secret sequence to taps, or a super-secret incantation I need to perform to make it work.
  9. We've run into this all over Europe and the UK. The explanation we get is that washcloths are "not sanitary". You may want to consider buying micro fiber washcloths to pack.
  10. Princess must be distributing hundreds of thousand medallions a year, each containing batteries and electronics - neither of which should be thrown away and added to our landfills. Since Princess came up with the medallions, they should have a plan for properly disposing them.
  11. My belief is Princess should have a collection box at the end of each cruise so they can properly recycle the medallions for those us who don’t want to keep them.
  12. Go to the Customer Service/Purser's desk. They have a binder with the selections and you make your order there.
  13. Yes, we did this several years ago. The only thing allowed was clothing, and yes, it is a customs thing. We also had to include a complete list of items in the suitcase along with the cost for each item.
  14. The website was changed on June 28th. We board the Island Princess on Friday July 29th, but fly on Monday July 25th, so we can’t take tests at home. We will do proctored tests from our hotel prior to the cruise.
  15. As for timing, for our cruise departing on July 29th, we received the email with link to the coupon book this week. So about 3 1/2 weeks out. Not sure we’re going to use any of them. Shipwide_Savings_June_2022_Color_FINAL.pdf
  16. Princess doesn't sail from Long Beach. I'd probably look at Lyft or Uber from the airport to San Pedro. Also the airport website states the flat rate for a taxi is $45. https://www.longbeach.gov/lgb/airlines-destinations/transportation/
  17. Every survey I mention this. The response is always the same - crickets.
  18. It’s a bigger problem than just my medallion. Prior to the pandemic, Princess put out a press release which said they issued over 300,000 medallions the previous year. Each of these contain a battery and electronics, neither of which should be thrown away to end up in landfills. A simple solution would be for Princess to have a collection box during disembarkation for those passenger who don’t wish to keep their medallions. Princess created the medallions and should have a system in place to properly recycle them.
  19. Personally I would rather not keep them. If Princess would have have a recycling box when you leave the ship, that would make me happy. The medallions contain a battery and electronics, so in California they should not be thrown away to go into landfills, but should be properly recycled. Princess foisted these on us, so they should be responsible for providing proper recycling of the medallions.
  20. In addition, you may not be able to reach the HDMI port. Some televisions are so close to the wall it's not possible to access the port.
  21. My wife just renewed hers. She did the interview over Zoom. Hint: check on Saturday or Sunday morning and you might be able to get a Zoom interview the same day. That's what worked for her.
  22. Yes, that was the one. Captain Ravera loved his ship - "The Beautiful White Lady". Norway is amazing and it should be on everyone's short list.
