  1. True, though in only watching that last 12 hrs it shift more North then eastern predictions sparing Tampa area
  2. Though Hurricane Season is also almost all year round, June 1 through November 30, and can happen most months with resent memory having a few April-Jan named Storms
  3. I remember 50 yrs ago there was lot of pay Toilets like at Airports, Dad use to make me crawl under...
  4. Agree, cone changed a lot in last 12hrs, Back then showed southern edge by Clearwater, now even further north then Steinhatchee, change of about 130 miles miles... Flying into Tampa myself Saturday afternoon leaving Monday for B3B on Serenade
  5. Nothing new, my longer 10+ niters 2022, 2023 and 2024 have all doubled or close to from day I Booked. Almost everything else is up. Ships running over the 108% Capacity of Pre-CV, so people are paying the higher Rate
  6. My Cruise next Monday still no Menu's, doing B3B, none on the Following one either and only half showing on the 3rd leg my Cruises
  7. Yup, probably couple Dozen Missed Ports due to Weather, half dozen they found us a different Port, only once got $30 OBC, think about 5 or 6 did get Port Back as OBC, though we did get free Drinks for 2 hrs on 3-4 others. 25yrs ago was part of a Class Action Lawsuit against Royal for Missed Port and not getting Port fees refunded. Royal Settled, Max of $7 Million with everyone that missed a Port getting $7 for each. I ended up with $49 FCC's, sure the Lawyers representing us got a descent cut of it
  8. Can't complain. Fly to my homes Michigan to Arizona 4 times each every yr. Then to Cruise Ports in Florida, Boston and Cali from either home and paying same or less then was even Pre-CV, definitely lower going Arizona-Florida then 3+ yrs ago. Compared to 15-20yrs ago all are lower, even more so on larger Delta, American, then Regional/Budget Allegiant or Southwest Air. And all this as Gas prices are still higher. Cruises, been lucky still get descent Rates even into 2024-25 on most, C&A and Military Discounts help. Better on longer 10+ niters then couple 4-5 that I'm doing in Sept & Oct. Won't do the Oasis or future Icon, that's my Kids type of ships and too crowded for me. Though Royal Prices on all but one my Bookings did go up after they were released, some now more then Double what were when I Booked on first day.
  9. Looks like a Lifeboat next to her. I first went on Grandeur 26yrs ago it was one Largest. One my Favorites is Titanic in front of Oasis Class. Just 3 Decades ago Passengers on most existing Cruise ships would only need 1-3 Oasis Class Lifeboats
  10. Funny thing was when the Pay Restaurants started on Royal 24yrs ago the Fee to eat there was the Gratuity, even at JR's the $5 fee back then inc a Shake... didn't last long
  11. Shoot I remember when Soda Pop was free with my Meals, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Been carrying on my own Pop since the 90's when they started charging. That said I don't mind that some places Charge for extra's, long as it helps keep base rates down. Like Airlines, fly about 20 times a yr with most on Airlines that charge Baggage Fees. But last 20yrs had double of most my stuff half at each end my Flights so no Fees. Cruise 6-8 weeks a yr, no shore excursions, no Soda Pop(except what I carry on), no T-shirts/magnets bought and definitely no Gelato for me
  12. Years ago the Loungers on open Deck and around Pool use to have a table for every 2 chairs. Of course they have ash trays on them but was nice place drinks on and keep items off the Deck and dry
  13. Some Royal Ships like Radiance Class have Loungers on larger/Aft Balcony's, other's like you were no nope
  14. Yeah I'll stick with my Radiance Class doing longer Cruises, Capacity 2500 but typically 1750-2050 on my Sailings... Going do an even smaller Holland Ship. Came with Free Grats & OBC so Total price on this 18nite Hawaii Cruise with a Balcony is about same price for 7nite on future Oasis or Icon sailings in a similar Cabin. My Kids/Grands love the larger Amusement Park Ships, I like no crowds, quiet, more Sea Days then Port along cheaper per day prices
  15. ...also, guess I didt realize there was a LA Port Cam, thanks for posting Link
  16. Yup, normal thing. Do longer Cruises where they Fuel up 1-2 times during the Cruise
  17. Agree, not just Cruises almost everything everywhere. Gas here is double what I paid 2 1/2 yrs ago. Shoot House we ordered/Built last Fall just 9 months later same house, same subdivision 2 blocks over is 27% higher, and that doesn't include the much higher interest rate now. Few Decades ago I couldn't afford take my Kids on a Cruise during Summer or Spring Break, back then passenger 3-4 was higher then passenger 1-2.
  18. Curious what the reason was for playing Tap's... One last Cruises was on before shutdown we had passenger pass away before we even left port, then 6 separate Emergency's during Cruise, speed up to next Port, missed a Port for 2 others, off loaded one onto Pilot Boat after turning around minutes outside the Port we just left. Use to Cruise Labor Day week every yr, Kids were already in School before then just missing 3 or 4 Days and was really cheap for passenger 3-4 compared to other High times, when was High and Low Season pricing. First Labor Day Cruise I did was a record yr for named storms/Hurricanes(up til then) and that week was 4 names Hurricanes/Tropical Storms, we steered around them missing couple stops and was 2nd wildest ride ever did on Ship. Dozens Passengers in Wheel Chairs or on crutches with Breaks/Sprains before the end. Even our onboard Entertainment The Monkees(minus Davy Jones) were Sea Sick, Peter Tork was trying eat some food in WindJammer was looking green with the patches behind the ears and Sea Sick wrist things. Last Cruise took over Labor Day, Me and my 11, 7 and 4yr olds and we got home at 6am, 9-11-01. Leaving next week Sept 2nd doing B4B inc a Repo, followed by Side by Side with Panama Canal B2B getting home on Oct 28th. I like waves and to feel I'm on a Ship but hopefully no Excitement like I've had in the past over the Holiday week...
  19. Same here. As said been Cruising so long back then even for 7niter I needed Large Suitcase and very full Garment Bag for the Formal, Semi Formal and Smart Casual nites. So along with every day Clothes just for Dinner/Nites I'd have 2 Suits, a Sport Coat, 7 Dress Shirts, 7 white Tshirts, 5 ties, pair Dress Shoes plus casual or Docker Shoes. 7 Dress Sox, 3 Belts and at least 2-3 extra long Casual/Docker Shoes. Then my Wife would be able fit all hers in a Medium Suitcase so instead she had a Large Suitcase that I'd use 1/3 of... Last 20yrs since Wife passed away almost always Cruise Solo, dont do Formal but do B4B or longer so 4 pair Jeans and dozen Button down short and long sleeve Shirts and 2 Suitcases, no Garment Bag
  20. Love my Suitcases but 3rd set and even open none have fit under the Bed as Base Spinner wheels stick out couple inch's. Well they will but lifts my Bed off the ground. As last 20 yrs been Cruising Solo really no issue, usually put one in my closet and other out the way standing up at end of the Desk. If instead of 2 large suitcases I'm traveling with a Medium and Large from same set easier as one stores inside the other... I remember started Cruising 4 Decades ago there would see 50+ Golfers bringing their Clubs/Bags onboard and if remember correctly the Ship would store them in between Port stops. But sure that went away like Safe Deposit Boxes, Skeet Shooting, Midnite Buffets and Mints on the Pillows with real Turn down Service
  21. Actually over 100% since last yr and heard lot Ships have been above the 108% capasity they were averaging pre-CV. Reasons I enjoy older Ships sailing longer 10+ niters, not likely have even 100%, almost no Kids/Families with many Solo like me
  22. Agree done FLL getting off Ship on Dec 22 and 23 and when I arrived at Airport from Ship 10-1030 the lines were at and out the Door. I'm always one last off, no rush Flight isnt til 1-230, probably less crowded couple hrs earlier. Fly First Class and Checked Bags curbside so no issues for me, no line to wait in. At least once a yr at Port Everglades self assist didnt even start getting off Ship until 740-745, though this always on a Non-Oasis Class Ship.
  23. Agree, Alaska definitely one Cruise that would matter more. About 23yrs ago while doing same 10+ nite Caribbean Cruises, 3-4 times a yr I had it written down, sun side/shade side, Island side/Sea Side. Majority the time Ship Parked same Direction but every so often, nope. Liked pick with the Sun on my Balcony and in the Mornings. Then Started doing same Cabin every Cruise so doesn't matter anymore
  24. Agree. Grand Parents lived in Florida from 1975-2006. They were in Michigan summertime May-Nov so never worried about being there in Florida if Storms hit
