Good morning everyone,
Just a quick post as I have been busy since I returned from my cruise last Sunday with family issues and also needed to emergently dog sit for a cousin. Although I haven't posted I have been reading every day, the Daily always is "go to" for me. For some reason this week I didn't want to post, just wanted to get get through things by myself. On previous occasions I have found the support of this group very welcoming and hopefully those who have shared both good and bad in their lives have also felt this support from the group.
Even though I have never met you I feel like I know you and look forward to continue to share in your lives and Travels.

Just curious Jim .... are you meaning to post these on the "Daily Thread for Friday May 27" thread?
I have posted the photos today but next time I post photos I
want to space them apart so I explain each one.
Jim.

Here are Sandi's @StLouisCruisers post and pictures of their stop in Pago Pago. The Italics are mine to distinguish her post from my part.
DH and I took a 2014 South Pacific cruise on Golden Princess which visited both the capital of Samoa (Apia) and Pago Pago, American Samoa. One thing I will never forget is the man on the ship who was arrested in Pago Pago for stealing a laptop on the ship. I always wondered what happened to him. That's a long way from home to be in legal trouble!
We did not take a tour out into the countryside so I was glad to see what that looked like thanks to @daisybertie. We walked around the town and then had a couple of U.S. National Park Service team members come aboard the ship to give a presentation on the local animals, birds and plant life. I am sure no other Park Service members wear the garment called a lavalava. Just don't call it a skirt! Also one thing we were told is Pago Pago is pronounced Pango Pango, and I would like to know if anyone here has ever been told that before? Please verify if you know that for sure. I wouldn't want to offend our American Samoan people.
View of the little harbor as our ship backed into it's place at the pier in Pago Pago.
The townspeople were all set up on the dock with their tents and local items for sale. A lot of shopping went on. Flower arrangements did very well that day.
At the edge of the dock area was the main street where folks could meet their tours or head off in either direction for an exploration.
A bus filling up for their tour.
An artist made this dead tree trunk into a work of art.
Instructions on where to go in case of a tsunami warning.
Things may be laid back here but I don't advise any animal take a rest in the middle of the street.
Made it easy to mail a postcard back to the mainland from this U.S. Territory.
I enjoy anyplace that has lush vegetation like this.
Back on the ship we head the presentation described above from the National Park Service and got to speak to team members.
Sorry for the quality of the next photo.
The sail away was beautiful that afternoon. I especially enjoyed the mist over the reefs here.
Very nice photos thank you.

Good morning. After two days of rain that measured 8” in my rain gauge we awake to a beautiful day. It should be nice throughout the weekend with high’s in the 80’s.
We have been to Pago Pago and will see if I can post some pictures later on.
Watched Sandi and her husband sail out of Port Everglades last night and I do hope they enjoy their adventure.
Lot’s of things to reflect on this weekend. The tragedy that occurred in Texas, the folks of Ukraine and especially those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country throughout our beginning. Special thoughts for close comrades that I had the honor and privilege of serving with.
Have a safe Memorial Day weekend but make time to remember our brave fallen heroes.🇺🇸🙏
A salute to all my brothers in arms God bless each one.
Jim.

Good evening,
It was a busy day. Jim’s surgery went well and it appears that the Doc got all of the cancerous lesion. I am the nurse who will change the dressing.
Also had the house power washed today. Our community requires that we have this done every spring to get rid of the pollen that accumulates. It has to be done by May 31 or we get fined. Well, it got done along with the patio and furniture, driveway, etc. and we are $400 poorer.
When I finally got to sit down and turn on the TV, I saw the horrific news of the shooting in Texas. When is this going to stop?
Did the best I could with dinner today. I didn’t eat all of it, but most of it. I am very tired. Still trying to cope.
As for the days. i never had a tiara, Had escargots on a cruise. Take it or leave it. And a half-brother who hasn’t been in touch for quite a while. Oh well.
Finally a port i have been to. I like Grenada. Especially Grand Anse beach. Nice calm water.
Hope to get there on our Christmas cruise. If we actually get there.
Thank you all for your prayers for Jim’s surgery and for my continuing health problems. i am doing the best i can. Taking each day as it comes. Some better than others.
Prayers for everyone. Especially those parents who have lost children today in Uvalde, Texas.
God Bless,
Terri

Good morning to all,
Thank you for the lists to both Rich and Roy. I appreciate the prayers for my continued health situation. DH has surgery tomorrow afternoon for a cancerous lesion on his abdomen. I can’t go with him because of the Covid protocols in that office.
i actually managed to eat dinner last night. We had veal cutlets with rice and green beans. I ate everything on my plate. i don’t think that has happened since I contracted COVID on April 20. So maybe things are changing. Still feel very tired.
Happy Victoria Day to Canadians.
Turtles are cute and endangered and need to be cared for.
People with Crohn’s Disease and Colitis have a tough life to keep their illness under control. They need prayers and understanding.
Still trying to put our lives back in order after such a long trip. Maybe I can get some stuff done today.
Take care everyone and prayers to all who need them.
God Bless,
Terri
Sending prayers for dh everything will go well with his surgery.
Jim.

Bolding is mine. Thanks Lenda and well said. Sorry about the thoughtless note your father got 😢
I think the worst one I got so far is “well at least you had 5 1/2 months to prepare for this”. I was livid and retorted back - I was preparing for a nursing home not death. There was no prognosis of death.
some people are just a$$hats, sadly. I just need to grow tougher skin, I guess. But seriously, so many people have been kind - I can’t let two bad apples spoil the barrel.
just a thought does anyone think those folk should be banned
from this site or would that be to harsh. Just my humble op.

What a terrible thing to say to someone who has lost a loved one. Whether the loss was expected or not makes no difference. It Hurts!!
You don't need to grow tougher skin; they need to learn how to respect someone who is grieving.
