Just got word that DH's nephew has been taken back into surgery for doctors to put in a plate to secure his ribs. He also has had a chest tube inserted for the lung injury. And, he will be back in ICU for some period after this surgery.

Yesterday, the report buoyed our spirits. Today reminds us that his injuries will likely lead to many ups and downs on the path toward recovery.

Your continued prayer is a blessing,

    -Melisa

Lots  more  prayers on  the  way. Jim.

Prayers are asked for my DH's nephew (age 68) who was mowing his mother's lawn yesterday and going up a hill when the tractor tipped over on him. He has multiple injuries – fractured vetebra from mid-back to waist, broken ribs, fractured sternum, bruised lung, He has had surgery and rods, pins and screws were inserted to stabilize his spine.

He was fortunate that neighbors were swimming in the lake his mother lives on and saw the accident. It took three men to get the tractor off him. He was pinned so tight he couldn't breathe but, thankfully, the men recognized the seriousness of his injuries and called 911 before trying to move him.

He has been the caregiver for his 89 year old widowed mother (my DH's sister). So, there are arrangements to be made for her care now and each's care when he leaves the hospital. We live six hours away, but, even if nearby, my DH's limited mobility and memory challenges would not make DH a suitable helper. Her only grandchild has stepped up temporarily...

Thanks, in advance, for your prayers,

Good morning, Friends. Thank you for the Daily, the Lists and the Recipes.

I will definitely celebrate Flag Day and blood donors.

The quote is true. The meal sounds interesting.

I haven't read past page one of yesterday's Daily but will get to it today.

Jack, @Heartgrove, sending condolences and prayers.

Jacqui, @kazu, happy to see your post yesterday.

Terry, @smitty34877, what a scary experience.

It is overcast an 79 this morning.

For those who watch Call the Midwife... I had missed a couple of episodes and in the past I have been able to catch up on the PBS app so I tried to do the same and the show is no longer there. Do any of you know why?

    Have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

🙏 and 🎉 for those on our lists.

If  you  can  get  Channel 24 from  Canada you  can see all of  the

    episodes.

The 2022 European season has been short on “Live from” threads so far, so I am starting a “Nearly Live from the Oosterdam” during her 12 day Mediterranean Empires cruise departing from Venice/Trieste on Monday June 13th.

This will be only Oosterdam’s 4th cruise since returning to service, so it will be interesting to compare this cruise to the one we did last October on Eurodam also in the Med.  Unfortunately, no Tamarind, but I am sure we will manage to forage enough calories from the other dining locations.

We booked this cruise in April during a ‘flash sale’ and got a Guarantee Verandah for a very good price. Since then we added ‘Have it All’ and have taken advantage of HAL’s exchange rate to pre pay ‘Crew Appreciation’. Last week I called Inventory and purchased an upgrade to a Signature Suite for a great price. Overall we are very happy with the amount that the cruise is costing.

Airfare, now that is a different story!  Also it appears that hotels in Venice are trying to recoup the last two years of nearly zero income by charging substantially more this year compared to last.

Anyway, our plan is to fly from Cork to Venice with Ryanair (direct flight) on Saturday 11th and stay 2 nights in the Hilton Garden Inn in Mestre. We have a private transfer booked to take us from the hotel to the port on Monday morning.

Anyone else travelling? Do feel free to add to the thread.

Next step is the Health Form, due to be available on 10th June...................

    Our itinerary:

Thank you Rich for the Daily Report, thank you Roy for the Cares and Celebration Report, and thank you Debbie for today's recipes. And thank you all for being here!

My sister passed yesterday close to noon. She went very peacefully with all of us at her bedside. For the five days at her bedside, it allowed us to happily remember her "Kelley-isms" which helped with our grief. She was the "Matriarch-in-Training" until our mother passed away in 1997. She assumed the mantle of "Matriarch" then.  🙂   My older sister was the pragmatic one. I have many fond memories of her being my big sister in my times of need. The funeral will be Thursday.

My brother will have the PEG surgery on Friday. He will need to be transferred back to the hospital for the procedure. My DSIL has told us that she is not ready to put him in hospice at this time. Their middle daughter just lost her Father-in-Law two weeks ago and Mother-in-Law in April. We will visit with my brother today, and tomorrow we will see my two grandsons. My son-in-law just lost an uncle last week. So much grief in our families right now!

I will be happy to be home again by the weekend. Sam is really missing us (we are missing him too!) as DSIL sent us a video of him howling looking for the other members of his pack! It was quite the howl!

    Stay Safe,

    - Jack

Sending  prayers  and  love  to you  and  your family may your

    Thanks for the Daily, Rich.

I thought I would try to start the week out right by posting here 😉 I am in slow motion as it seems to take longer to do anything these days.  And some days doing anything much can be a challenge.

I was a day early celebrating weed your garden day.  I knew it would rain today so forced myself to face the music and start to clean up.  I’ve let the garden go, sadly and must now pay the price.  I’ve barely had a chance to truly enjoy the fruits of the years’ labours.  And I guess I can definitely celebrate kitchen klutz day.  I’ve certainly been a huge klutz in the kitchen for the last few months 😱

That quote is ever so true.  The meal suggestion sounds delish.

Garden Club (and animal lovers) as you know, deer are the bane of my existence.  This is why I have a fence.

That picture was taken from a great distance.  You can walk right up to them and they don’t move.

They are just too used to humans and dogs. And voracious garden destroyers.

I know lots of people think they are beautiful but this gardener hates them.  I would never have these or any other flowers if I didn’t have fencing.

DH wanted me to plant this one.  I’m so sorry he isn’t here to see it 😢  I don’t know why the tulips were so short this year - due to the cold and rain?

A very big Bon Voyage to @VMax1700

I hope you and Ellen have glorious time!

Prayers for you all, everyone on the Care list & a 🥂 to those on the Celebratory List.

    Have a great Monday everyone!

Lovely flowers and nice to see you posting.

We had a late frost last year and my late parents hydrangeas which I brought to ours from theirs when they both died over 10 years ago and created a memory garden at ours they had a poor flowering but this year there are lots of buds ready to flower.

This picture was taken a couple of years ago.

Received a call from my younger sister late in the evening about my brother and sister. My brother is having a hard time at the rehab facility. He still is having trouble swallowing so the feeding tube is still in place. They are wondering if he suffered a stroke as he is only moving one arm.

The inevitable seems to be near. My sister is failing exponentially now.  My younger sister said that she saw a huge difference between Friday and Saturday of my sister's condition. The plan is to move her to Inpatient Hospice Care as soon as a bed becomes available. Sue and I are planning to leave Tuesday for Chicago.

    Stay Safe!
