  1. My ship is set to leave at 6 P.M. and we arrive into Athens at 5 P.M. the preceding day.

I know it will take some time to get our bags and to go through customs and immigration in Athens. Then we plan on taking the train into downtown Athens where we have an AirBNB. I guess by the time we get set into our room it will be around 8 P.M. Let alone if our flight is late. Any suggestions for our short time in Athens before our cruise?

  2. I just booked ChoiceAir last Saturday for a cruise that was booked through a TA, and got no email, and saw nothing on the Celebrity site related to it. When I went onto ChoiceAir, it showed what I paid, but did not list the flights. So I just called. The agent quickly confirmed that I had valid reservations, gave me the confirmation number, and sent me the info via email as well. I was able to log onto Delta and find and verify my flights. He said they were having some system glitches. I'd suggest just calling and verifying. Took less than 5 minutes.

    Exactly what I experienced.

    Thanks for all the answers.

  3. I am booked on a Celebrity cruise Oct 31 on Connie and booked through a large TA. A few weeks after I booked the cruise, I signed up for choiceair from Newark to Athens going and the Rome to Philadelphia on the return. I paid in full on my credit card for the flights and never received any confirmation via email.

We all know how celebrity's web site is the best and every time I would go into the reservation to view the flights the page would come up blank, just showing me the money that I paid on the top corner of the screen. I decided to call choice air last weekend and they tole me that once the reservation is maid, you can not view the flights on their site, but rather directly on the airlines site. I told them that I never got a confirmation email, and I was told that the TA got the confirmation. They sent me the confirmation email as a courtesy, but told me that the TA should handle it. I didn't want to make any changes or cancel the flights, just wanted to be sure that they were booked and that they were right.

There needs to be something on choiceair's site telling you to go directly to the airlines site after you make a reservation instead of screwing around with the celebrity site.

    Anyone else have similar issues???

    Thanks,

    Howard

  4. Enjoy your cruise on Celebrity!

DH takes a pair of Khaki Dockers to wear in the evening. He will take a nice pair of slacks for the Evening chic nights paired with a button down shirt. I will wear slacks/capris/skirt with a nice top or a pant suit for the evening meal.

The days of long gowns and tuxedos are pretty much gone. Yes, you will see people dressed in formal attire but I find that not having to pack a suit jacket makes life much easier. We still look nice at dinner and the big thing is we are comfortable.

How about on my upcoming med cruise?

    No jacket required?

    Thanks,

  5. Hello,

We are newbies to Celebrity and will be taking an 11-day Adriatic/Mediterranean cruise in September. We've taken two previous cruises with a large family group to Hawaii and Alaska, this cruise will only be DH and me. My first question concerns dining and shows. What is a good time to schedule dinner if you're interested in taking in an evening show? With just the two of us, would it be better to have an appointed time or come to the MDR without reservations and take our chances. We are extremely flexible on this matter, just looking for a little advice.

It makes no difference which time you plan dinner, as the ship puts on the same show twice each night.......... early for the late diners and later for the early diners. If you take anytime dining, then you can check out the daily schedule each day and fit them into your night.

I want to add 1 thing to having a set time at a set table with the same waiters each night. There is something that makes dinner special meeting people on a cruise, we have made lifetime friends this way. The second thing is that the wait staff will know what your preferences are and will tailor the nights to you..... like your drink on the table when you get there.

Also, we are staying in an inside room. The cruise is very port-intensive and the price was too good to pass up. What are some of the nicer public spaces on the Constellation for hanging out on sail aways and sea days?

Thanks for any and all tips! clear.png?emoji-grin-1677

  6. It really boils down to the price. We've done both the 11 day (3 times) and the 14 day (2 times) cruises. Check out the itineraries and decide. We especially enjoyed the overnight stay this past winter on the Eclipse in Aruba. But I think that has changed for 2018. Since that 14 day cruise will end in 2018, then if it's in your budget and to your liking, then by all means, take it.

I agree 100%. Anywhere in the Caribbean would be perfect to rest and relax. Price is what I would leaning toward.

  7. I always get "comfortable" after dinner. Shorts and a polo is my attire after dinner every night. The casino, night club, and the rest of the ship are usually come as you are after dinner. On over 20 cruises, I have never ever been asked to change my clothes after dinner. Hope this clarifies it. Please people, life is too short, be nice to each other.

  8. We are doing the opposite. Flying onto Athens the afternoon before our cruise. Someone told us that the metro(subway) was very easy to use to get to the hotel......we get there around evening rush hour. Anyone have experience using it?

We plan on staying near the Acropolis for 1 night as the cruise leaves the following afternoon.

    Thanks,

    Howard

  9. Cross pack. Put some of each of your clothes in each other's suit cases. That way if one comes up missing, both will still have clothes to wear.

Don't pack any valuables in your checked luggage. Cameras, laptops, tablets, medicines, etc. should be carried on with you.

Be prepared that if you get onboard before 1:30, you will not be able to go to your cabin unless you buy Faster to the Fun (FTTF).

Once onboard, there will be plenty of places to eat. There are two buffet areas. Most people stop at the first one. If it's crowded, go to the one further back. It's usually not crowded at all.

Don't show up before your check-in time. They won't allow you in if you show up early. If your check-in time is before 11:30-noon, be prepared to sit and wait for the ship to be cleared for new passengers.

As you check in, you will be give a zone number. When the ship starts boarding, they will first board Platinum/Diamond, FTTF, wedding parties and passengers needing assistance. Then they will start boarding by zone numbers.

Most importantly, be back on the ship on time. Be safe and be back on board a half hour before the ship is suppose to leave. The ship will leave without you if you're not back on time. You will hear the term "Pier Runners". That's the people that wait until the ship is pulling away from the port and they are running trying to catch it.

Respect the crew. They will bend over backwards to make sure you enjoy your cruise. If you have a problem, go directly to Guest Services and report it. They will do their best to rectify the problem.

As for packing, the rule of thumb is lay out what you think you'll wear, then put half of it away. Most people overpack until they get use to cruising. Most people dress for dinner, then go back to their cabins and change back into comfortable clothes. DW and I just take one pair of slacks and use different shirts/tops each night.

Have fun! What happens on a Carnival ship, stays on a Carnival ship. (Unless it shows up on YouTube). You probably won't ever see your fellow cruisers again.

    Great Advice.......says it all.
