  1. Not really. Fare forfeited... win for Carnival. Non-revenue producing passenger off the ship... a wash for Carnival. No consumption of fixed passenger costs... win for Carnival.

The only loss would possibly be losing the smuggler as a returning guest. And that's not really a loss.

I don't understand why this policy isn't more widely enforced. Seems like an easy way to make money to me.

Do you honestly think that someone who packs some alcohol in their luggage to drink in their stateroom doesn't buy any drinks on board? Gamble in the casino? Buy things in the shops? Buy excursions? Eat in pay restaurants?

How can you justify even thinking of putting them off the ship? Ever hear of selective enforcement?

  2. I can't believe so much worry about a little lox. $13.99 a lb. at my local costco. I buy a pound and put half of it in the freezer for another time. It tastes great. I used to be able to get it on lido by asking a matter d for it. Last trip which was 12 days on the Freedom, I must have had it 8 or 9 days.

It doesn't pay to ask or write it in on the room service hanger.

  3. They use the X-ray scanner for all bags and you walk thru a metal detector. You are NOT allowed wine from any port other than the original point of departure.

If you bring back wine or alcohol, you will be directed to take the contraband to the table to check it to be picked up the morning of debarkation.

As far as drug dogs, that would be up to the individual ports and the police in each particular port.

  4. Last December we had FTTF on the Glory out of Miami and it was a wonderful perk.

We got on the ship really easy and early right after the wedding parties. We loved the fact that the cabin was ready right away and our bags got there by 2 PM. We were unpacked and all setup by the time we went to Muster. We were in the pool and relaxing by the time lots of people were still in line to board.

On the other hand, in January, leaving out of San Juan at 10 PM, we are not getting it. We fly in the same afternoon as the cruise as well.

I really see both sides of why to either get it or not.

  5. We had an inside guarantee and Carnival called us to ask if we wanted to switch to a spa inside cabin for $30 total for the 2 of us. I jumped at it for 2 reasons. Use of the spa and the fact that deck 11 is so convenient to lido and the daily activities. We were afraid of getting stuck on deck 1 and it was better to make sure we had a cabin on an upper deck.
