  1. As far as HMC and WIFI and different bars having it.....

Being on HMC is like being on the ship. Period.

There is NO WiFi on the island.

The crew from bars on the ship work at the bars on HMC.

The cooks from the ships galleys cook the food at the buffet on HMC.

The ships entertainment staff will travel over to HMC and they provide the entertainment.

THERE ARE NO local bars in order to get a drink from.

There are no small restaurants to order lunch from.

There may be a local vendor selling local bahamian t-shirts, and small souvenirs.

    I hope this helps.

  2. I've been on the same ship out of FLL to the same itinerary and on one time the seas were like glass and the the next it was like going on Space Mountain.

You never know what the seas are going to be like. The same beach has been like glass on one day and very wavy the next. All depends on the weather and not the ship.

For anyone to blame the seas on the cruise line is ludicrous.........

It's like blaming Ford for traffic on the highway for the car you just bought......Ludicrous right???

  3. Not necessarily, but you could let him/her know and they will possibly give you some freebies as prizes. We got some carnival giveaways and we gave them to the player that got the highest return on the slots.

  4. The dress code seems to be out the window which is ok with me.

Casual shorts and a golf shirt will work almost every night. I was on a 7 night cruise on the freedom and on the 1st elegant night I saw many guys in shorts. So on the 2nd elegant night I wore dress shorts. The dining room managed tried to stop me, quite unsuccessfully I must add. He made me put an extra napkin on my lap to cover up the shorts. Very similar to one night in the steakhouse a few years ago when they required a jacket to enter. They gave me put a jacket to put on the back of my chair.

You're gonna be on vacation. Just enjoy.

  5. I live in the West Palm area. If you choose Tri Rail, you will have to get to the Tri Rail from the West Palm airport and then from the Tri Rail at the Miami airport to the cruise port.

There is a Metro Mover train that goes from the Miami Airport to downtown Miami near Bayfront, but you still have to get to the port. Some people do walk that distance from Bayfront over to the port, but I would hate to schlep a lot of luggage over that high bridge. Some folks say they have done it though. I'm thinking it is at least a mile depending on where your ship is docked.

They can take the Tri Rail over to Downtown Miami and then do 1 of 2 different things.

First catch a Lfyt or an Uber over the bridge to the port, or secondly they could walk to one of the downtown hotels and hand the shuttle driver a $5 bill and they can hop on the POM shuttle over to the port. Money talks.

Either way it is not that far to the port from the trip rail station, just too far to walk.

    IMHO.

  6. You sure are in for a treat! We were going to book this also, but something came up. Baltimore is a great port to sail out of and Pride is the BEST! We will be going on a Journeys cruise on her in January. Our 5th and 6th week on her! HMC is gorgeous and truth be told, Grand Turk is probably our favorite POC just because it's such a pretty beach, beautiful water and so easy just to walk on and off the ship. BON VOYAGE!

Grand Turk is one of our favorite ports in the Caribbean. It is extremely easy to get off the ship and being on the beach in less than five minutes. There is Jimmy Buffett Margaritaville right at the end of the pier. If you want to take a walk on the beach to the right, there are a few private bars that have beers for less money then Margaritaville. We even like this stop more than HMC. The pool at Margaritaville is huge, and they have flow riders if you're into that. Have a great time.

  7. One sticking point for many cruisers, if I can add, for people who purchase the Cheers package for their cruise....Cheers IS NOT honored on HMC....you can use your S&S card to purchase drinks, but it is paid on a per drink basis

Sorry, I wasn't aware of that as I never buy the cheers package. Last time we were there, I got a bucket of beers and enjoyed them on the beach.

  8. Having been to HMC many many times, I can absolutely tell you the following.

When the ship arrives at HMC, the first few tenders are just for the crew to take supplies over to the island. All the food for the lunch comes from the ship. All the drinks also come over on the tender. All the staff on the island serving and making lunch are from the ship. The prices for drinks are the exact same as on the ship. The ships photographers are over there taking pictures. These is some local staff on the island who come there for the day not from the ship for some of the work, but the majority come from the ship.

As far as ownership, Carnival corp owns the island, it doesn't matter which sub corporation owns it on paper, but Carnival owns it for use of ll of the ships under their brands.

To sum it up, the day is a great beach day as long a the weather is not too windy for the captain to lay anchor so that you can tender over to it. Enjoy.

  9. it is so stupid of Celebrity why cant it be delivered to our cabin on the last day as in the past i would be quite happy to pay a delivery tip to my cabin i agree with the last post if this continues i will not be buying df from there shop Aussie

Carnival now does the same thing. I guess they both think they will lose revenue for 1 night's bar tab as they feel people will drink their own booze and not buy drink. On X, it really doesn't make sense to me as so many of us have drink packages. I can only imagine that an accountant some where looked at a spreadsheet and it showed that on the last night revenues were down compared to the rest of the cruise. Could it be that people are all barred out and had enough to drink. What's next, are they going to have cameras watching us to make sure that we don't share our drink package drinks??? Is the next rule gong to be that we can't take 2 cards up to the bar and get 2 drinks? I can only imagine... to be continued.
