  1. Melbourne Cup cruise 2022, absolute chaos getting off ship and back on. Then we were moved to the commercial port, had to be bussed out and in. If they could organise the terminal entry and exit in a better way, the position of Station Pier is excellent as it is so close to trams to city.
  2. Don’t know about Costa, but on MSC bingo in 6 languages left me befuddled and no I didn’t win. Lol
  3. Cruised on 8 cruise lines. Tend to pick Princess if itinerary is good, because of Elite benefits. However as Princess removes these benefits there is no incentive for me.
  4. None of my dining reservations are showing up, nor our drinks and internet packages, will wait till I get to port to sort it out. My first time with medallion, can’t say I’m impressed yet.
  5. January cruise on P&O both Noumea and Vila cancelled, added Mystery Island, we were already scheduled for Lifou, so two quiet ports. Haven’t seen Isle of Pines as a port listed lately, lovely place. Vanuatu took a hammering with the recent cyclone, hope all residents are getting back to normal. We are there again in May.
  6. On Pacific Encounter no face washers on two different cruises, tissues magically appeared on day 3. Best take your own.
  7. I would be so disappointed if they took it away, however on a round Japan cruise quite often we were the only ones using it. I know they limit bookings for privacy but rarely saw anyone else there.
  8. Ring them and talk to the rep, if not happy ask to be escalated to a supervisor. I must admit I did use the Elite since 2013, card and was very insistent about how unhappy I was with their original decision. My family thinks they allowed me to extend to shut me up. Families can be so cruel. Lol Ring and keep trying, good luck.
  9. Love the Diamond especially the Izumi bath house. Have to start saving my pennies to sail on her again. Lol
  10. I had a lot of credits due to expire, couldn’t find a cruise in the time period that I liked. Rang Princess (in Australia). They extended my dates to the cruise I wanted which was just outside of the original expiry date. They then used this credit as my deposit.
  11. Basically over 70 and with pre existing conditions you have to become a sharp eyed lawyer and read the PDS like it is a riveting novel. (It’s not).
  12. Another vote for Kelly’s Bar. Just watch the time, on one occasion I saw three gentlemen running for the ship after one too many Guinness. In 2009 on the world cruise from Australia, the Cobh cathedral used its bells to play Waltzing Matilda. A very special touch.
  13. Nope, my credit card provider will not cover anyone over 80, anyone with pre existing conditions, ie high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes, no cruise cover. All of these MAY be covered for an extra cost, but sounds very iffy. Basically I wouldn’t be covered. Not insurance to rely on. On another track, one man on the world cruise told me his insurance was cheap because he didn’t tell the insurance company about his medical conditions. Lol
  14. Some credit card insurance has age limits and restrictions on pre existing conditions. As you say read PDS very carefully.
  15. Have done a lot of research into this. Over 70 and with multiple pre existing conditions. Be wary of credit card insurance and check for age limits and cover for pre existing conditions. Cover for pre existing conditions varies widely between companies. This year i have gone with COTA, how good it really is, remains to be seen. Have been cruising 3 or 4 times year since 2007 and have never claimed. Damaged my camera once but by the time depreciation and excess kicked in wasn’t worth the effort. Make sure you read the PDS carefully for whichever insurance you choose, even though it is hard work. You really need to have travel insurance, just in case. Good luck.
  16. Seen the same in SE Asia. If it’s less than the price you would pay for a drink just buy it. Once in India we hired a tuk tuk driver for the day to take us around. We agreed to a price before leaving, he did an exceptional job and this was our last port in India so we gave him the extra money. He said to me, you have paid me too much, when I told him no, you earned the extra, he almost broke down in tears. Their life and expectations are so different to ours.
  17. Interesting comments, on our cruise in January no one even asked let alone looked at our travel insurance, cruise to New Caledonia and Vanuatu.
  18. Fingerprinted every time I enter US, you would think they would keep them on file. Last time in NY took forever.
  19. Didn’t beat her down, walked away, she realised I wasn’t an American and sold me the hat for what it was worth.
  20. I know my Rolex is genuine. I bought it in Turkey from the genuine fake watch stall. After two years the “gold’ did start to peel off though.
  21. In Copenhagen on a very hot day, my hat was in the hotel room so I decided to buy one from vendor near canal. €25 was asking price, thanks but no thanks, she then decided €10 would be ok. Happens everywhere.
  22. Stop it. You’re using common sense and that’s not allowed!
  23. Two cruises November and January, never asked for any proof. P&O sailing from Brisbane. I had agonised over whether my letter from insurance company was detailed enough, that’s tine I won’t be getting back. Lol
  24. Offering $200 cruise plus casino credit, repositioning from Singapore to Brisbane, or Pacific hopper, or Great Barrier Reef cruise, last two are both seven days. Have two overseas cruises booked, one in April, one in August so cannot take advantage of them. I am not a big casino player, maybe one or two nights on a 7 day cruise and don’t spend a fortune, so no idea why I get the offers.
