  1. Snow Bunny: We are on the same cruise! Stop by and see our *upgraded* suite!

Cruise port is pretty much like an airport terminal, once you get INSIDE. There is no coverage outside, so if it's raining, we will all be wet, sunny we will all be burnt (you get the picture). Once you pass customs, you get your boarding group, then sit around for what feels like days for them to call your group.

I am looking SO forward to this vacation!

Thanks for the information! We have cruised out of many ports and I was just curious about outdoor coverage. Maybe we will show up at our appointed time versus trying to get on early depending on the weather!!

  2. DH and I are leaving from San Francisco on the 23rd of next month. Since neither of us have been to this port, what can we expect?? Is there any coverage if you have to wait prior to boarding or when you disembark?

  3. Off the ship.... After our disembark lounge leader listened to our pleas about getting time getting tight with our flight out of SFO. We were off by noon. Immigration said it was never this backed up before. And yes, a winks cruise review is in the works.

It seems that DH and I are following you on cruise ships by a month or so!! Enjoyed your Summit review as we were on her in November so now I will impatiently wait for your review of the Grand!

  4. I might have most of the 10 from Dec

What's the best way to share them?

And what the #1 reason to check them out before a cruise?

I like to see what kind of dancing they have offered on previous cruises to get an idea as to what time we might prefer eating at!

As for sharing, not sure if you can scan them as a PDF or not. I find that when people use other forms of sharing I cannot see them.

  5. I purchased two packages of 12 for our 10 day cruise next month. Figured that we tend to drink 1-2 bottles a day and like having a couple of bottles per port day. We have been on cruises where they announce no taking any beverages off with the exception of closed bottled water!! Guess they are worried about introducing something different to their environment!

As we are flying in it makes sense to do this versus stopping somewhere in a city we are not familiar with to buy some water which we then have to haul on!

  6. $35.65 for 15 punches.

So they are using 1.2 as my exchange rate, the same as my OBC exchange rate. Much better than the 1.45 at my bank!!!

Thanks for the information, it might be best to buy it now and not have to worry about the exchange rate.

  7. Can someone confirm the US price for the coffe card? My booking is in Canadian and it says save 20% but they are charging over $42 for the card. As a result I am trying to calculate what the exchange rate is that they are suing.

    Thanks!!

  8. I really like what I've read about Scenic Tours, but am hesitant to book because of the four-passenger minimum. I'm booking for just my husband and me, so we would be left without a tour if no one else books that day. How many people do the vehicles hold? Does anyone know if their tours fill up in advance or would I be taking a chance with them? I'm also awaiting a report from Snow Bunny as she booked a private tour, apparently for just two people. That sounds great.

We had a very good tour with Hudson. We went to Shirley's Heights, the lookout, Nelson' Dockyard. We also chose to do some time at the beach. The cost was based on having four in the vehicle. We had several other stops along the way. As I said, the cost was double but we thought that this way we wouldn't have to wait on anyone to rejoin us when we stopped etc. As well, we really wanted to see the island and get some beach time in.

  9. Just off the Summit and was able to cash out $300 plus the 5%. Then cashed out my purchased OBC at the customer relations desk. Had more issues cashing out my OBC than the cruise line credit. We used ours for additional tipping and a non Celebrity tour, plus tipping on our Celebrity tour. Had I been able to use it for rebooking our excursions I would have been happy to do that. Wish they could figure out a way of doing this as it would make more sense since there is almost always a tour I can take with them and therefore they don't lose said funds!

  10. We've never had any desire to self disembark, but I'm curious about your comment. I've never seen any restrictions based on nationality and I don't understand why there would be.

Just off the Summit yesterday and it was clearly indicated that only US citizens could utilize the self disembarkation. Don't know the reasoning behind it but it was on several of the handouts we received.
