  1. Thanks to everyone who have taken the time to reply. We booked the aft for the larger balcony.

    Dave

You were right about the soot problem which was finally taken care of several years ago. In the beginning it was quite bad, you could see film of soot on the furniture. The only problem now is privacy, especially the ones just under the lido deck where guests can look down.

  2. Hi I am from the uk, my TA told me that we can change our booking ONCE only for a admin charge of £100

I guess you have to think is the additional OBC worth it?

I would rather see if the cruise price drops :)

Princess does not charge an admin fee, seems like its your ta is assessing you an outrageous fee to make a simple call to Princess for you...

  3. I have been on NCL and I can honestly say that I will NEVER book with NCL in the future.

Totally agree, sailed on NCL numerous times until several years ago & what a disaster with our family cruise of 40. Everything was downhill except for the comp cocktail party.

  4. Any bar can make any drink you request (within reason). Just because a bar is said to be a 'martini bar' doesn't mean they can't make anything you ask for (sorry for ending my sentence in a preposition!). I drink rusty nails and order them wherever where are (in a bar that is).

That`s my healer drink when I lived up north & had frequent colds,

  5. Surprised at the wholesale change of the entire menu of drinks, instead of dropping the one or two least ordered and offering new ones, keeping the most popular choices. Perhaps their strategy is to give provide undesirable ones in the hope that passengers will turn to their regular stand-by at the full price.

That would have been my strategy.

Close, they really want to sell the expensive full drink pkg.I would really become an alcoholic if I purchased that wanting to get my monies worth.

  6. What's wrong with a little change? If you have the drink package order the drink you want? I, for one, like the idea of trying these new drinks.

You may have the drink pkg but most of us don`t or want it. I would become an alcoholic if I bought it, its not about the price its about controlling what you drink.

  7. I don't consider what's below an obstruction.

Your right, the obstruction is only when you look down. You will either have an obstruction across the top of the lifecraft boat of approx. a ft or more or worse the bubble on top for the driver or the end bars that lift the craft. In other words definitely a obstruction.

  8. A query for anyone who has had OBC refunded.

We are owed money and my final bill says that this is refunded in 4-6 weeks after disembarkation. We disembarked 27.05.17. So tomorrow ( Saturday 08.07.17 ) it will be 6 weeks ago.

So far nothing, either to my Credit Card ( as per Celebrity) or by cheque as indicated by Princess.

I have emailed Princess in U.K ( sent Wednesday 05.07.17)) but am still waiting for a reply.

    Question

Where is the cheque sent from - will it be Southampton where Princess UK have an office, or America?

If I don't get a cheque tomorrow or a reply to my e mail, I will be phoning on Monday. I will leave it until then as I am sure Accounts don't work at the weekend.

My one suitcase was destroyed on leaving the ship this past winter & it took a very long time to get a check, they claim the refunds go thru a different process now. They obviously don`t care.

  9. Was just wondering if there are more chances of an upgrade if you pick your cabin or go for a guaranteed choice or is it just the luck of the draw?

We just received a very good upgrade on the 4th as well as other cabins next to me, now I see why, our previous cabin price category was just reduced & were still in no cancellation penalty, still I`m delighted with the better cabin on a 14 day cruise.

  10. Tartan cruiser- we were on the regal last month and the buffet was incredible. Always a ton of options. I do not like buffets in general, but really liked how many servers were behind the buffet constantly refreshing the food. We are in the buffet more than any other one location. Disappointed to hear that the improvements to the CB did not make the buffet at least a little similar to the regal.

Ditto on the Regal MDR, best ever, not so for me at lunch in the buffet, selection was limited so had lunch in the Mdr when it was opened & very enjoyable, excellent burgers.

  11. Agree with Patty. You could get to the tables out back- enjoyed the day in Bermuda watching the sailboats practice for America's Cup. After that it was too cool to even try.

Just a caution about cabin E721. Starboard mini suite closest to the front- but still very far aft. I had always wanted to try this cabin and just lucked into it at the last minute. But the balcony floor was filthy and covered in metal bits. Had the steward clean it but it was still bad- and of course we stepped on the sharp bits.

Bigger problem was the smell on the balcony. It was foul! We thought it was from the floor and the steward worked on it more. By the third day we had the supervisor in to help. She was wonderful but said it was a vent that was smelling. She also said our balcony was used for welding by the dry dock guys. She was not shy about her anger at them for their mess. She said they were lazy and did not do nearly enough of what they were supposed to do. She mentioned the tv upgrade in particular. She did offer us a different cabin but it was far forward and I know those can be tough in rough weather. We decided to stay.

In hindsight- always 20/20- we should have moved. Though the weather was cool we could never even step out without the horrible stench.

Good luck to all CB cruisers- we are done.

We had similar problems on the Emerald being on the first cruise after drydock.. We had a mini on Emerald deck. Our cabin was still not touched with any renovations. During the cruise a worker came to our room, opened the ceiling & cleaned out the air conditioner which was not working. Thus now the cabin smelled of the dust & my wife who has asthma became ill. Other cabins had other problems, flooding of rooms & many other problems. On the other hand, we talked to other guests who bragged about the changes. Luck of the draw, I will never go on a cruise after drydock again. Now I am booked for 14 day in Oct. on this ship & after reading the recent comments may have to cancel.

  12. So much paranoia about something so simple. I wonder if there was this much uproar about going from a metal key to a key card that can "track" every time the door is unlocked and who unlocked it.

I agree, big deal, I have a medallion to do a lot that I really don`t care about & it makes me open to have my privacy out for anyone to attain. I am now having that on my computer & don`t need it on a cruise ship.

  13. That's it! Too bad it's only in Alfredo's. It looks ridiculously good!

That certainly looks nothing like what they serve in MDR. Having eaten in Alfredo`s numerous times I can`t believe I missed ordering this delicious looking dish.
