  1. I am loving all of this PEACH talk. I live in the area of Colorado known for Palisade Peaches. Guess I spent way too long in Florida - give me a South Carolina or Georgia peach any day!!!
  2. Nice afternoon in Western Colorado! Heard about some AZ storms from my Dsis--she lost a Saguaro in her front yard, and the patio. furniture was moved several feet! I "celebrate". book lovers day for all others, but for me it is a no-go! Ever since my DH died, over 5 years ago, I just can't read very much at all. Still working on Michener's ALASKA (3rd time) for a year ago. Wanted to read it again before my cruise last August! I used to read constantly, but it is such a struggle for me anymore. Wish it wasn't so! @HeartgroveI am so sorry about Sam. We went through the hip dsyplasa, and it is so hard to watch a loved pet suffer and try so hard. You will certainly be a comfort to your beloved pet and I hope the medication helps. I just finished starting an easy recipe for overnight refrigerator Bread and Butter pickles. I have done it for several years, and know that the recipients of the jars of pickles love them as much as I do. Will finish tomorrow, and probably go for more pickling cucumbers in a couple of days! @smitty34877, sending best wishes for Tana's breathing to improve. Hope that her most recent bout with COVID won't set her back. Such an awful disease. @rafinmd, thanks for my inclusion on the Cares list, but I am glad I am not on it any longer. My disease is something I will live with for the rest of my life. When we volunteered after 09/11, we certainly didn't anticipate such consequences, but I have expected it ever my DH was diagnosed in 2013. So, far, my symptoms aren't progressing very fast. Have a great rest of the day, everyone!
  3. Interesting days - Hooray for clean underwear and beer. Will forego oyster due to shellfish allergy. Loved them when I could eat them! Many thanks to those who wished me well with pulmonologist visit yesterday. It is now official - what I had suspected for quite a while. The doctors have been "dancing around" telling me. I have pulmonary fibrosis, but it has not progressed in well over a year. At this point nothing to do, but adopt a wait and see attitude. I am very active and otherwise in fairly good health for 80 years old! @rafinmdyou can remove my Dsis from the Cares List. She is doing fine, and it will takes months for her skin to grow back from the abrasions, and her bruises will heal in time! It looks overcast today, but don't think there is rain in the forecast. Just warm! @Quartzsite Cruiser, we are fortunate, as the nearby flash flooding in a burn scar area will not affect anyone - that particular fire was in an uninhabited area with desert-y type vegetation. Really only populated by oil rigs! Happy birthday and Happy Anniversary to those celebrating! Have a great day everyone. Mary Kay
  4. Glad someone is getting results. I tried for almost two months to reach PCC. Four emails and 5 voice mails. Finally cancelled thru regular lines. Still no response from PCC! Guess he doesn’t care, but he lost me.
  5. Good morning! At least I hope it is still morning when I finish writing this. House to be cleaned this morning, and I will leave for a period. But I have to be back for a RC call at 10. Many thanks to @richwmnand @rafinmdfor being the backbones of this friendly place. Of course, all who post are appreciated. We all learn so much today, and it also is so nice to see the wonderful to see photos of places we haven't visited or hope to visit. It is so fun to see where the conversation will go each day! I should have kept my mouth shut about cooler weather in the area. Today it is supposed to get to about 97-98! Almost every day we get flash flood warnings about heavy rain the one or both of the burn scar areas from the two bad wildfires in our area two summers ago! Not looking forward to visit to pulmonologist today preceded by a CT scan. Given the after effects of being at Ground Zero, guess that is my lot in life! As long as my shortness of breath doesn't become much worse, guess I am doing fairly well. Think how well I could breathe if I was at sea-level! Have a great day everyone!
  6. Entertaining day today on the Daily & Fleet Report! Of course, I am late again. But it was a good day of doing all the little things I have put off since my trip. When I got back, of course, I unpacked, did laundry, paid bills and went through mail. But I had several little things - emails, phone calls that I used today to accomplish! I am glad to see that some folks are getting answers on some of their painful joints, etc. Sorry @dfishthat one of your group has COVID! Hope it is a mild case. @smitty34877I have been praying that Tana wouldn't be too seriously affected by the virus. Her IPF makes COVID just so scary! Hope recovery comes quickly for your entire household. My Red Cross stuff starts tomorrow. I "should" do 2 Zoom meetings, but I have a previously scheduled CT and Pulmonologist appointment tomorrow, so will miss one meeting! My floor will be cleaned tomorrow as my cleaning lady comes tomorrow. My last visit with her coming as she is moving back to Utah. I am very fortunate to have found a new person who comes with great references. Thank goodness, as there are several tasks that I can no longer do! Happy Birthday @lazey1 Have a great evening, everyone! Mary Kay
  7. @Cruzin Terri, best wishes for a successful Mayo visit tomorrow! @marshhawkgood luck in finding the office!
  8. Finally got back to posting! Before I forget @marshhawkthe directions given in the hospital for my sister's abrasions was to keep clean by just running water over the wounds in the shower and then keeping everything covered (with non-stick pads).. Then the new advice is still similar, but to use a medical wipe to get "scabs" off and put on antibiotic cream, but still keep covered. Sorry your DH has incurred an injury, and I am sure that blood thinners can make it scarier! Sending healing prayers. It has been a beautiful day here and the temps are in high 80's. We only had a few days of real hot weather, which is not typical. We are getting some monsoon rains in our areas, or other areas of the state. Hope it continues. The discussion of school starting dates the other day makes me hope for moderate temps when our kids start on August 11. They are still trying to hold some classes outside (weather permitting). The outside classes are still a Covid thing. @kazuyou are doing what is best for you. I know it took me almost 2 years after DH passed for me to get my head right and I could finally resume activities. You and Shadow (Little) can work through some of your pains together. I wish I could have a dog where I live, but there is a no pets clause in my lease agreement! Hugs to you for brighter days ahead on your own time! Sending prayers for all on the Cares List and best wishes for healing for all those with various "hurts." When I cancelled my cruise yesterday, it was a well thought out decision, and the airport situation was the motivating factor. But I had been trying to contact my PCC for 2 months (4 emails and 5 voice mail messages) to no avail. From now on I will just book myself, and work everything out without him. After all, in a post retirement job I did travel agent work, so I am not a newbie to the fame! Have a great rest of the evening, everyone.
  9. Just a quick note on my cancelled cruise. Back later to post more. I have decided that as an 80-year old woman traveling alone I must consider how I can “do” airports. My new conclusion is that US or Canadian airports will have to suffice. Long immigration lines or other delays just aren’t for the single traveler. I guess I am just accepting limitations of age.
  10. It is so late for me to post, but that seems to be my "MO" for the current times. I just can't imagine the day without the "Fleet/Daily" for the day. There is so much friendship and camaraderie shared here. What a great group! @marshhawkthanks for your persistence as well as others in getting Father David restored. Being here we all understand and look forward to his inspiration each week. @Paw13, welcome! You and your DH are so inspiring to all of us. How can you both eat the wonderful meals and stay so stylish? @smitty34877, my prayers for all of your family. I am so happy that you have such good neighbors to help you this difficult time. Sleep is the word of the day when it comes to Covid. I know I still have some days of extreme fatigue after my virus encounter in February! @kazuyour patience with Shadow will result in a lovely dog when she gets over her fear. You were put into her life for a loving reason.. To all others that have issues, please know that all are in my prayers. This is such a caring, loving community and we all look to each other for support. Thanks! Just an update on my Dsis after her fall. She has seen her local doc and he has given her the protocol that he wants her to follow. Guess we did everything right for the first week, but now things will change for the next period of her healing of such horrible abrasions. She is managing quite well by herself. Today was a sad day for me, but I finally had to realize that I can't handle the AMS airport alone, and I cancelled my October TA on the Rotterdam. Didn't take too long on the HAL call, except for the question about the charge for the air! When I quoted from my documents, suddenly there was no charge. DUH! Thanks to all who make this such a wonderful and safe place to be! My prayers for all on the Cares list! Have a great evening, everyone! Mary Kay
  11. Well, finally made it home. What an exhausting 2 weeks! I am happy to report my DSis wrapped her abrasions herself last night and she has a doctor appointment tomorrow. Hope she finds out if the treatment regime will change. We have been following ER instructions. @Quartzsite Cruiser, I saw your town on the weather map in Phoenix last night! I hadn’t looked you up on the map earlier. Was raining there, as well in Phoenix. Western Colorado has gotten lots of rain today. Have a great rest of the evening, everyone. Will be an early evening for me.
  12. I am still with my sister. I am very behind of reading and catching up. My prayers for all on the Cares list and a happy dance for those celebrating. My trip with my sister has bee very different. The memorial service for her DH was very nice and would have been exactly what he would have wanted. The bad part was that my DSis fell down 15 steps. Thankfully she broke nothing, but has serious abrasions on one leg, both arms, and she has huge bruises EVERYWHERE. I have been helping her change dressings everyday. I am really worried about her after I fly home tomorrow. @kazui am so happy for you that Shadow is on her way. I am sure the scared look and scared body will soon vanish with your love and care. @Sharon in AZ, what town did you grow up in Eastern Colorado? I keep meaning to ask you, and yesterday’s talk of carhops reminded me. I went to high school in Lamar. Was just there last week for the memorial service. Hope your DM recovers quickly from COVID. Have a great rest of the day, everyone!
  13. Good morning from Arizona. Finally made it to Phoenix yesterday just before noon (no DST in Az). And it is HOT. Start our drive back to SE Colorado tomorrow. This is such a crazy trip. @durangoscots, if flying out of GJ would ever help you are welcome to leave your car with me. Of course, I realize Red Mountain Pass separates us!🤪 @0106, you did great on recipe posting. All of it looks yummy. There was actually some rain here last night and it is overcast this morning. Rain is always welcome in the desert. Hope everyone has a great day. Prayers for Cares list. Glad so many on the “happy list”.
  14. I am still home. Airline has delayed flight time twice. Hope it goes at 3-1/2 hours late. I "think" that American is playing around so that there is only flight a day out of here to PHX and then one flight back. Who knows. Hope your flights are better @dfishand Bon Voyage! It is bright and sunny today - nice flight weather. Starting to get hot, so getting me prepared for weather in the Valley of the Sun. Have a great day everyone. Thoughts and prayers for the Care List, and happy thoughts for those celebrating! Mary Kay
  15. @StLouisCruisers, my condolences to your entire family and especially to Amy. I am wishing her in her new lonely state of life. Not easy!
  16. On Zuiderdam in January /February, we had a congenial group on the first night and decided we would keep same group. We all had anytime, but managed to get a reservation for same time/table for every night. My guess is that it comes down to who is at dining room desk to set up seating. Of course, only deck 2 was being used for all dining, fixed and anytime due to low passenger count.
  17. As usual, late to the party! @marshhawk, your last meme spoke to me so much. Thank you! @durangoscots, so sorry about your fall. I would love to see you, but not visiting you in St. Mary's in GJ! Please take care, and be so very careful. @StLouisCruisershope that someone can find out what is going on with your leg. It can become very scary when no one knows what is going on. @grapau27, hope that the awful virus is easy on your precious Sarah. @Quartzsite Cruiser, this heat will end --------- in September or October! HA! Prayers for those in need, and happy for those celebrating. Mary Kay
  18. I would agree, but my DSis just told me it was 113 in Sun City West. Guess I need to start walking outside - NOT! 🤪🤪 @rafinmd, my condolences on your loss. What a long life to have lived.
  19. Happy Monday afternoon. Prayers for all on the care list, as well as @kazu(toe), @StLouisCruisers(leg issues combined with family cares and concerns) and those with "new"COVID issues. I have seen on FB several times lately "Wouldn't it be nice to wake up to Peace on Earth." I could add that it would be nice to not have our Daily family suffering with so many cares, and health issues. It should only be about 100 here this afternoon. Guess I had better get used to it, considering I am going to Phoenix, and the SE Colorado, Western Colorado, and then back to Phoenix. Think I have a couple of weeks to heat to look forward to! Have been busy this morning with a mani/pedi, trip to grocery store and Walgreens. Also tried to freshen up my coffee pot for when my sister is here for two days during out trek. Since I don't drink coffee, the pot usually lives in my garage. Have a good rest of the day! Mary Kay
  20. Well, as usual, the day got away from me! Went to Mass this morning - our pastor only gives about 4-7 minute homilies. This morning was a beautiful message and only took about 5 minutes. Then my afternoon was spent with NASCAR. Great race from Atlanta. Though "my guy" was going to pull off a win, but it was not to be. Oh well, there is next week. I was going to comment yesterday about tetanus shots. When I was on a Red Cross assignment about 2005, 6 or 7, I was in Arkansas after a tornado. The Health Department was in our building giving tetanus shots, and our Job Director insisted that all RC volunteers receive a shot. It seems like it was only a tetanus, and not mixed with any other vaccine. In thinking about it, I am sure that was the last time I got a tetanus shot. Better check up on that and ask the doctor at my next visit! Last week we had "some" monsoon moisture, but the rain has now dried up. We just have HOT now! Clouds today didn't produce any rain at all. I will be leaving on Thursday for a two-week trip with my sister. I am flying to Phoenix, and then will be her second driver. She is taking her late husband's ashes to our hometown in SE Colorado for burial. After that we will do a little trip and visit relatives, and end up back in Phoenix, and then I will fly home on the 28th. With our various destinations, I am sure that heat will be the order of the day! Have a great rest of the day. Guess it is "tomorrow" for most of you. Mary Kay
  21. I though I was fairly early for today, and it is already Page 3! Definitely no early bird postings are usual for those of us in Mountain/Pacific time zones? Interesting group of days. Not sure about the meal--can't quite get over the fish eyes staring at me! I love it when my DSIL takes me in his sidecar motorcycle. I always feel quite safe with him. He was a motor cop for number of years and actually had specialized training at the big track at Daytona. It is a beautiful day here. Currently not a cloud in the sky, but by afternoon, that will be changing. Thankfully, it seems that we are having somewhat of a monsoon season. Fire danger is quite low right now, but that can change quickly. For right now will take monsoon rain, in whatever amounts we get. Got a long day in yesterday for Red Cross. Back to the office today to finish our project from yesterday. Then this afternoon, I will be doing my afternoon of volunteering at my DsD's church for their Food Bank ministry. Usually about 200 families receive a good amount of food to help them get through the month. Then out to dinner with a friend - Mexican food here I come. I love the stories of getting foreign currency. When I tried here locally, no bank would order it for me. Wells Fargo is the only one, and then I would have to have an account with them. Guess that the fact that I have WFC stock isn't enough! I love living in a small town! I will just plan to use an ATM when I get to Amsterdam in October! Have a great day, everyone!
  22. Just a quick post from me. Haven't been able to post for over a week between being gone for DGD's wedding, visiting a friend, and some long Red Cross days. I have read daily, almost, but getting to the laptop was not happening. @StLouisCruisers, I was so sorry to hear of your family health problems. Just to give some encouragement for Buddy's wife. Doing hospice care at home for my DH for almost 4 years was the hardest work of my life, but in reflecting back, it was also the most rewarding experience I ever had. I cherish the time we had together and it makes the loss easier in so many ways. (I know that 4 years is unusual, but lung diseases don't follow many timelines, according to his hospice nurse!). If his wife has the support of hospice nurses, etc., they will guide her lovingly through the whole process. More later, if I get back in time from an out-of-town Red Cross meeting.
  23. Fairly quick post from me. Yesterday was travel day. Today we (DSD, DSIL, 2 great grands, and I) are in hotel in suburbanDenver. My DGD is getting married. Such a happy family event. Then the others will go back to Western Slope and I am staying in Denver area for a few days visiting a friend. She and I have been friends for almost 60 years. @smitty34877, I am praying extra hard for a swift recovery from pneumonia for Tana. Have been through the pneumonia cycle a few times. Hers is such a frightening disease. @StLouisCruisers, I am so happy for you that the COVID jail has one less prisoner. Hope your previous cell is totally empty soon. Prayers for all those on the Cares list and cheers for those on the Celebrations list. Our first cruise was in 1985 on the Noordam from Acapulco to the City by the Bay. What a sight it was to see the Golden GateBridge at sunrise. And that wonderful cruise hooked on that way of vacationing and a BHB as the means of travel. Have a great day everyone.
  24. @HAL Sailersending healing prayers for DH’s nephew. What a blessing that others witnessed the accident and were willing and able to help. Hope the recovery goes well, although imagine it will be lengthy.
