The entertainment is very subjective. Overall quality is not bad IMO. The guest entertainer was outstanding. Just one thing, oh boy it was loud. The shows would be much better if X didn’t try to deafen me. Wish the AV technician would sit with the audiences to hear how bad it was.

I found the entertainment noise level to be particularly loud, and during certain parts, it would literally hurt my ears. Probably should have offered us ear plugs.

We sailed on Beyond in early February. The shows were good, but honestly I thought the entertainment on Odyssey of the Seas blew Beyond's shows away. Seven nights on each ship made me want to return to Odyssey too see those shows again. Beyond's theater has awesome high technology, but that on Odyssey was even more spectacular, especially their sound system. But entertainment is so subjective. What I enjoy and want to enjoy again might not be what someone else wants to experience. In short, we had a nicer room on Beyond, but better entertainment throughout the ship on Odyssey.

We too were on Beyond in early February. I haven't been on Odyssey, but I've been on Allure and Oasis and agree with you that the Oasis class entertainment is the best I've ever seen.

Experiences or recommendations? We prefer a more relaxed atmosphere.

Definitely Nachi Cocum. I've done it twice and LOVED the laid-back vibe. Very few people were there. Beautiful, exotic landscape. People are spread out on the beach and it is quiet. Drinks were good, food was FANTASTIC.

Just got back from Paradise Beach on our Celebrity cruise last week and I did not like it. They packed us in like rats on the beach. Music blasting from the pool area, which was loaded with kids. Drinks were good, food was meh. (Although their pico de gallo kinda rocked my world). Did not like the atmosphere or the volume of people there.

As a jazz drummer ( as you can see in my larger photo) I feel your pain. Jazz is jazz, Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder fall under Pop music. When I'd go to Jazz on 4 I would have expected to hear just jazz music. We like the Promenades on the bigger RCI ships, something that none of the Celebrity ships have. If they did we'd be sailing on them.

Hubby is a drummer as well, and is learning how to play jazz and funk (his background is rock, metal). We attend jazz clubs at home, and were expecting to hear some great jazz on the Celebrity ship. I told him last week, "No worries, Oasis class ships have dedicated jazz clubs," and he got very excited at the thought. Royal, I shake my fist angrily at you!

  5. This is extremely disappointing news, as the Jazz venue was one of the draws for me on the Oasis class. I loved unwinding with a little jazz every evening.

Just got off a Celebrity cruise last week. Hubby and I went to watch their jazz quartet at one of the venues. They played a Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson song before we gave up and walked away. I'm no musician, but I do recognize the difference between jazz and R&B. At least Royal had that one right.

On a positive note, their casino was delightfully smoke free.

At least you all got butter for your lobster, we never saw any butter. Also just wondering is anyone offered coffee anymore after dinner? We were not asked once. My husband would literally have to almost grab someone to get a cup of coffee.

Hubby and I had to ask for it every night on the Beyond last week, even at the specialty restaurants.

After the show we made our way for a nightcap to the Martini bar and found the silent disco going on. This was our first time participating in the silent disco and it was a blast. If you have never done a silent disco give it a try!

Highly agree on the silent disco. Tried my first on my Royal cruise back in July and loved it so much, we went back a few nights later. My legs got a workout, wooo boy.

Visit Eden restaurant as soon as you board to grab whatever reservation you can. For the Main Dining Rooms, there is no longer assigned dining times (early/late seating) on E-class ships. It's all anytime dining. Make reservations ahead if you like, or just pick a dining room and show up.

    Good to know, thank you!

Don’t wait. Reservations are in high demand. Book for the four of you as soon as you can and either straighten it out once on board or have them pay you back another way.

Yep, found out the hard way. Eden is full for my Feb cruise. 😞

  10. My son and I were on the same cruise. I absolutely love the Allure and her crew, but she is starting to show her age and desperately needs some updating in a few places (like the carpet).

I realize that RCI is having issues with getting back to the usual crew quantities, but the lack of things to do on the ship was apparent. Remember when Oasis class had TWO pages of activities in the Cruise Compass? So we had almost 6,000 guests and 1/3 of the activities, which meant if you didn't show up to trivia 30 minutes early, you weren't getting a seat. That got old real quick.

Mama Mia was outstanding as usual. I noticed that no one left the theatre during the entire performance (*cough*CATS*cough). And the aqua show...well, that's the whole reason you book an Oasis class.

Absolutely loved to see Indian food in the WJ every lunch! And did you try that Jerk pork on the last sea day? OMG. To die for.

  11. When I went on Oasis back in '17, I had read allllll the negative reviews on Cats. Even read two positive ones. Said to myself, "Don't care. I'm going to see it for myself and make up my own mind."

I made a deal with myself that if I hated it, I would only leave at intermission because, well...RUDE.

So it starts and I'm amazed. The set, the costumes, the performers...oh my goodness, top-notch. I loved how they came down the aisles and made you really feel like part of the show. I thought, those Negative Nillies were wrong, that this is fabulous, blah blah. I'm watching people leave and I'm thinking, "RUDE."

I think I lasted twenty, MAYBE thirty minutes. It wasn't even a conscious decision. My legs straightened up and walked me right out the door, in the middle of the first act before I could think myself back to my seat. I couldn't even hold out for intermission because, well...AWFUL. If I could summarize the plot to Cats it would sound something like coughing up a hairball.

Some time later into the second act...I walked back into the theatre at the top, where I cannot be seen by performers, to see if it redeemed itself somehow. By now the theatre is 25% full. They are singing "Memories." I stand there for a few minutes before my legs gave up on it a second time and walked me back out of the theatre.

I'll be back on the Oasis in February 2023, and while I'm a sucker for punishment, this is one bad accident I don't care to witness again.

we have stayed several time the night before very close, our favorites are the Hyatt House or Hyatt place (across the street from each other) in Dania Beach.  They had an airport shuttle (free) in the past and we have used it, but we much prefer to just get an Uber (or Lyft) ride, so much less hassle.  My relaxation time is more valuable than the $30 (approx) uber costs me, I don't enjoy standing watch at the airport trying to figure out which shuttle van is for our hotel, there are *many* cruising through.  We do the same to get to the port the next morning (Uber) for the same reason.  There is a very nice, but fairly upscale shopping center (Dania Pointe) walking distance away from those hotels, lots of dining options in there, some nightlife too if thats of interest. No Walgreens or CVS though, at least not when we were there last about 6 months ago.

I was considering both of these. Is one any better than the other?

In Cozumel we went to Nachi Cocom which was as beautiful as reported. Drinks were flowing, food was plentiful and the water was gorgeous. It was allegedly booked up the day we went - it caps at 120-130, don’t know exact figure - but didn’t feel super crowded even then! We got there around 9am and got a great spot on the beach with two loungers and a little straw umbrella hut.

Nachi Cocum is one of my favorite excursions EVER. I'm glad to see that you enjoyed it! Thank you for this review. 🙂

I don't pay any attention to what the CDC says about anything.  I won't cruise at this time because of all the protocols which would make it a not enjoyable vacation.

I don't care what the CDC says. If a cruise line announced tomorrow that they were going to have maskless cruises...I would be booking.

Y'all are my kind of people. Totally agree.

wow you picked a great ship to sail on.  There is so much to see and do on Allure;  this ship could be your destination. Have fun.  The promenade is twice the size of Freedoms promenade

Agree completely with this. Allure is my favorite ship, there is SO much to see and do on her. You cannot beat all the live music venues around her at night. And yes, the entertainment is top-notch. Mama Mia is a fantastic production. And DO NOT MISS the aqua show! You will be overwhelmed with all there is to see and do...she is a destination within herself.

I find it worth it to treat yourself to a three-night dinner package because the specialty restaurants are outstanding. 150CP is my personal favorite, if it's still there. I was told that it will be replaced with another restaurant.
