  1. I sure hope you get the chance to hike in ANP. There are over 120 miles of trails to choose from, and I've hiked a lot them! If you tell me the kind of hike you're looking for, I will give you some options. There are trails that are easy level ground and trails that are rocky strenuous climbs and trails that are somewhere in-between. Let me know how you will access the trailhead - by Island Explorer bus or car or walking in from town.

As for Bar Harbor, there is a lot to see in the small town - shopping, restaurants, taking an oceanside stroll, or just relaxing in the park.

P.S. My avatar is my dog on a hike up North Bubble with Jordan Pond in the background and the Atlantic Ocean in the distance. This gorgeous view is only accessible by hiking.

Your post made me even more excited for the park! We will probably rent a car for the day & drive to the park we are all in our 50's and not regular hikers so I don't think we should do really rocky strenuous hikes. Are there easy hikes with beautiful views?

  2. I just use a good TA and pay a lot less to start with.

That is a good suggestion & I have used a travel agent & gotten a few perks. But finding a good agent is difficult. And I have found when you ask others onboard about their travel agent they act like you asked for their bank PIN number

  3. We have never been upgraded on any of our Princess cruises. Therefore I do not even know how it works. Do they notify you through your cruise personalized? Do they call? When does it usually happen? We are on the Oct 3 New England/Canada cruise and I am dreaming of an upgrade...

We were upgraded once on RCCL...from a balcony cabin to a Grand Suite!! Totally awesome & now I am spoiled!!

  4. Does the Regal & the Royal rock more than usual? I realize of course that all ships rock to some degree. However, some on this board claim it is excessive. If so, I wonder why? Or were the seas just rough on their cruise?

Thanks I appreciate any info you can give

  5. I have found that many don't respond well to being asked who their travel agent is. I've tried this while on a cruise in the past & they act like you're asking for the code to their room safe!!!

  6. For me, a good agent has been hard to find. And on cruises when I ask other passengers, they act like you're trying to get the code to their safe. Anyone else have that experience?

  7. I need a little help from you Princess experts please. Will a travel agent be able to beat the Bucket List sale (obc & free gratuities)? If so, how do I find a good one? I've had some bad experiences. And those I've gotten quotes from can't top that offer.

  8. Not necessarily true. Booked upcoming Alaska in November 2013 and have had 2 price drops (one since balance paid) resulting in about 10% refund (plus recent addition of free gratuities by Oceania. Note that this was in addition to TA OBC, which stayed intact.

I advise finding a "brick & mortar" Oceania top producer TA "cruise specialist" for best price monitoring/followup. Check Conde Nast Traveler for recommendations

I went to Conde Nast Traveler to find a recommendation and the link to agents keep saying "page not found". Am I looking in the wrong spot?

I appreciate any help you van provide

  9. We sailed on Oasis three years ago and based on that experience we will never sail Royal Caribbean again! We will be sailing on Regal Princess next month so I can really compare the two then.

What happened that made you decide to never go back? (If you don't mind sharing)
