  1. For your purpose the hot spotting over wifi wouldn´t work anyway. If you created a hot spot with your iPhone and you are let´s say in the Schooner Bar and your Kids are on the sports deck, your Wifi range wouldn´t be wide enough that your Kids could connect to your hot spot. If they would be Close enough to connect they could just talk to you;)

I agree, it wont work for keeping in touch over the whole ship.

  2. Thanks for noting that there were 8 of you. That helps to put the tip amounts (Genie, room steward) in context.

We will be staying in a 2BR ATS on the Harmony in February and are very excited! We will have 4 of us in a suite on the 10th deck, which is smaller than the one that you had. That said, was the room comfortable for 8 people?

I think we had enough room. We had two married couples. We took the master room with a bathroom. The other couple had the other bedroom with pullman beds. The room attendant removed the mattress from the pullman beds every night and set them up in the living room. So we had to two adult kids on the pull out sofa and two adult kids on the floor on the pullman mattresses. (18 to 22 year olds). Also the balcony is huge on this suite(room #8330)

One thing I failed to mention was none of the luggage fit under the beds in this suite. We always stored the luggage under the beds on Allure. We piled up the luggage in the suite foyer. There is plenty of closets and drawers to store clothing, even for eight adults with suits and dresses.

  3. Enjoying your review. But you keep saying things are FREE,believe me,you paid for everything with the price of the star class suite!! Going on a B2B in May on the Allure and can,t wait!!:D

Yes, not free. I should of said included in the price of star class.

Over all I think the star class was a good deal for us. We paid around $18,000 for eight people. Which if we would of got four balcony rooms and included the drink package, wifi and speciality restaurants. It would of been more than the suite.

  4. We have the 2BR AT in September.

Just curious, what time did you check in? Was it before 1:00 when the general rooms were ready?

We arrived around 11:35am. We told the genie, that we would arrive between 1130 to noon per the emails before the cruise.

Once we checked-in. We were lead straight to our suite. The genie opened the fire doors to our floor(8th) hallway. Which there was a group of people waiting to get to their rooms. The genie had to tell these people they couldn’t goto their rooms yet.

  5. In closing, We really enjoyed staying in a star class suite. We loved our genie Charlie. The disembarkation went really smooth. The genie met us in our room and escorted us straight off of the ship, past all of the long lines.

The wifi worked good, everyone in the suite got their own password for the wifi.

One thing i noticed was Sorrento's pizza has changed. You were able to make a custom personal pizza before. Now you get what ever they make. Which most of the time is boring toppings.

Also at the 150 Central park restaurant. The wine pairing isn't included with star class. It's a $25 up charge. While other people have said its included on other ships.

That's one of the reasons for this review. Just showing our experience, on the Allure of the Seas in a Star class suite as of 12/17/17.

There is a lot of talk on the forums about tipping. We tipped our genie $700 and the room attendant an extra $100.

  6. We also ate lunch at johnny rockets a couple of times. Everything including the milk shakes were free.

The ice cream shop, scoops on the boardwalk is also free. The workers in scoops were extremely friendly.

The bar on boardwalk and drink stand by the theater on deck four had popcorn. The popcorn is normally $2.50 for a small bag. No problem all free for star class.

The mini bar fridge isnt very big or cold in the room.

The genie had a full size cooler delivered to the suite. They kept it full of beer, soft drinks and etc. They restocked the cooler and kept it full of ice, several times a day.

We asked to go on the all access tour. The genie said that would be at a charge. I don’t remember exact price $100 plus.

We did go on a tour of the bridge and kitchen included for free. We did this and enjoyed it, just wished we could of saw more of the ship.

We were also lead off the ship on all ports by the genie. We were allowed off before anyone else.

On Labadee we were escorted by the genie all the way to our cabana. He also made sure we had everything before they left. ( drinks and floating mats).

I’ve read on here that the otw cabanas on barefoot beach were all destroyed except two. This looked true, all of them looked rebuilt.

The genie will reserve you seats in the shows. Just let them know where you want to sit. We chose the front row.

All drinks at Starbucks are free including the smoothies.

    To be continued!!!!

  7. We've been in Star Class 3 times - all on Harmony. While we were definitely permitted to order from any specialty restaurant, we were restricted to ordering from a single restaurant for each dining event. Our Genies (twice the same one, once a different one) told us that this was b/c the logistics of ordering from multiple restaurants for a single room service delivery was too difficult for the food to arrive at the same time and not be cold.

That rule may just apply to Harmony but I would be surprised if guests were permitted to order from multiple restaurants for the same meal delivery.

Thats one of the reasons. I wanted to do a review on the Allure. I read conflicting info about star class.

I think each ship and genie might do things differently. I believe you said or someone else said the wine pairing was included. That was one thing on the Allure not included with dinner in the 150.

  8. We asked the genie to reserve all shows and we wanted to eat at all speciality restaurants.

We mostly just followed the schedule that he set for us. We cancelled dinner reservations twice and just ate in the man dining room. We had mtd and both times there was a line, but as star class we never had to wait in line. Just showed our card and was seated immediately. Plus as star class you are allowed the upgrade items off the dining room menu.

We all order the surf and turf each time we ate in the dining room. Which is normally a 35$ up charge, but free to star class.

All food in the speciality restaurants are included and as many entrees as you want.

In Chops we all ordered steaks and ordered the imperial seafood towers. Which is normally a 39$ up charge, but free to star class.

One night we had dinner on the balcony. We were allowed to order from any and every restaurant on the ship.

We ate lunch at the hibachi grill. The menu said you can only order one or two meats. We said we would like to order more than two meats ( steak, chicken and seafood). They said we could for an up charge. We said we are star class and they said no problem, everything is free included the sushi .

  9. We stayed at the Hyatt House and arranged for a limo to take us to the pier.

We had to much luggage to fit in the limo. So the limo company sent a Suv to haul the luggage. So off to the cruise terminal we go. The limo driver goes into the bus entrance and the police wont allow the suv in the same entrance. So now we are separated from most of our luggage. When we arrive in the limo the porters try to take our luggage.

We tell them we are star class and we are suppose to keep our luggage per the genie and the many reviews from cruise critic.

This is when the real fun starts. So from defending off the porters and waiting on the suv to arrive from the other normal drop off with the rest of our luggage wasnt fun.

This process isnt very easy or smooth. We asked a couple of royal caribbean workers for help. Nobody seemed interested or knew. What to do with our luggage. The royal people kept telling us to give our luggage to the porters.

Not until we told them we need a genie. Did we get things resolved.

After a genie arrived to the drop off curb. She said dont give the porters your luggage and she took us inside. She lead us straight to the check-in. This is where we gave our luggage to a worker to be taken to our suite.

Royal caribbean really needs to review this process.

After check-in, our genie Charlie lead us onto the ship and straight to our room.

Our genie had the room decorated for our daughters birthday and had all the snacks. That we requested waiting on us.

  10. This review will be mostly about the star class experience on the Allure of the seas.

We received an email from our genie ( Charlie ) at two weeks from our sail date. We never received any questionnaire.

The email just introduced himself and asked a few questions.

The genie asked what shows and what restaurants we wanted.

Also He said the mini bar was included and wanted to know what soft drinks we wanted for the mini bar. From reading other reviews i knew some people asked for beer and different fruit juices. So we asked for those things also in our reply email.

We also asked for different candies each day for the room. Also we had a standing order each day for an afternoon snack of shrimp cocktail, salsa, cookies and bacon & chicken wrapped jalapeños from sabors. Which was granted with no problem.

The initial email from genie was kind of vague. We asked for a OTW cabana at labadee and to go on all behind the scene tours. Which wasnt mentioned in the email. So, If you are Star Class don’t be afraid to ask for items. Which seems to be the on going theme for most star class reviews. That i’ve read.

Since we were celebrating our daughters 21 birthday on this cruise. We had the genie get us a black forest cake for the room on embarkment day.

With some of the follow up emails before the cruise from the genie. We let him know, We were going to arrive at the pier between 1130am to noon on embarkment.

  11. The room attendant took the pullman mattress down and put away everyday for us last week on the Allure in a 2B Aqua suite. We had two couples and four kids. Two people on the pullout sofa and two on the mattresses from the pullman beds, in the living room. The kids are adults (18 to 22).

With the two adult parents in each bedroom.

  12. On the Allure last week, we could get a peach daiquiri at the Sabor bar, but not in the Schooner bar. Went down to Central Park and they made me a peach daiquiri. However, all three bars had the makings for a strawberry daiquiri. At the pool bar, the bartender had no idea how to make a plain daiquiri and gave us a strawberry daiquiri which I detest. <sigh>

    What’s a plain daiquiri

  13. The questionnaire came about 6 weeks before and I am pretty sure the genie didn't read it. They're sort of silly questions that honestly have very little bearing on the cruise itself.

Mary Joyce first emailed me about 3 weeks before - I was surprised at how early that was. She gave me a general overview of her services and asked about what was important to us to do. A few days later she replied with a draft itinerary with meal and show reservations. We've made a couple changes since then. She has always responded within a few days and apologized for delayed responses. Since I know she's busy with her clients on the ship, I certainly did not expect same day responses from her about these types of things and my inquiries were not of an urgent matter.

Just wondering, We leave on 12/17/17 and havent heard a thing from nobody. No questionnaire or anything.

  14. We had the unlimited photo package. We took a big family picture with others in different rooms. The photos showed up in our photo package. Plus the photos that were in other rooms folder. We just put the photos in our stack of photos.

Royal doesnt go through the photos at the end of cruise. We had had several hundred prints
