  1. So, July 24th will be my family's first cruise and we will be onboard the Allure. We will have two teenage boys (15) and am debating getting the soda (or whatever it's called) package. How does it work? Do they have to carry a bottle around with them to use the machines? Does anyone know the price of just the soda package? Thanks in advance--told you I'm new to all of this :)

Our kids always get the royal replenish package. It includes virgin frozen drinks, which isn't always list on the links. So they can have soft drinks and also get their frozen daiquiris. Just something to think about instead of the basic soda package. Also good for adults that don't want alcohol, but still want a frozen daiquiri.

  2. Another good thing to experiment with is different liquors in your drink.

We like to use coconut rum or peach schnapps in your girly drinks.

We like "love connections" and with coconut run or peach schnapps, makes the drink taste totally different. Than the usual dark rum/spiced rum that they usually put in the frozen drinks.

  3. We just sailed Oasis last week. 10 days before departure they emailed a voom special of $15/day - buy one and get one device for free. The special only lasted online for about 24 hours. When we boarded they had a 10% discount on the standard internet packages for C&A members if you had not yet signed up.

Also we were given. A business card size card with out Internet access code.

One key thing to know is that if you want to use another device, you need to go to

logoff.com on the current device to officially logout before logging in to another device.

Each ship must be different, because on the Allure a few weeks ago. There was no need to log off. If someone connected to the account with a different device. It would just kick the first device off and log in the new device.

  4. I have only read some of the replies so far, will go back and finish, but you don't need the cup at dinner, once the waiters see you have the soda package they will have one ready for you when you arrive at dinner. As mentioned you can get a limited selection of drink in a class with ice, no cans, but a kid at one of the bars can be virtually ignored for a long time.

You don't need your mug in the dining room. Your sea pass has a sticker or logo on it. That shows, you have paid for the soda package or higher packages.

  5. Looking to possibly rent a couple of the iPhones for our upcoming cruise to keep our group in contact with each other. We are going in september of 2016.

Has anybody used the phones recently? Are they still able to be rent? Are they iPhone 4's still?

If so, how well did they work? We just want them for texting.

REALLY REALLY wish that royal would release the royal iQ app for all of the oasis class ships. Other cruise lines have done it, I don't see the difficulty.

Just off the allure today. The iPhone's are no longer available. The price of the voom. wifi is much cheaper than the old phones were.

$15 a day for one device and half off for second or more device for the wifi.

It worked really well and was fast.

  6. Another thing you might consider with drink package. You can experiment and try different drinks. If you don't like it throw it away and get something else.

Without the package. You will have to pay for the bad drinks. I like long island tea. Not all bartenders make it the same.

  7. Does a machine get a gratuity?

If it's Bionic it will have to be in slow motion.

Thats funny. I doubt most people know. What you are talking about. My wife doesn't know the 6million dollar bionic man.

  8. The biggest tip I can give you. Dont expect, or try to do everything the ship has to offer. The allure is the biggest ship in the world. They have alot of activities to offer.

We always do MTD and never make reservations. That kind of defeats the purpose of "my time dining" in my opinion. We never wait more than a couple of minutes and we ask for the same waiter, if we like them after the first night.

Nobody can tell you, if the drink packages are worth it, but you. We always get them, because if you buy five or six drinks a day. You will break even. We also like to experiment with different drinks. If you have the package you dont feel guilt about spending $10 or more on a drink and not liking it. Just throw away and get something else.

Since you've never cruised and don't want to do excursions. You will have plenty to do at the port shops. Since its all new to you.

In nassau everyone usually goes to the straw market at least once. It's just one of many shops right by the pier.

St. Thomas has many shops also at the pier. Also Megan's bay is very beautiful. If want to take short ride to it.

At St. Martin, I just take the water taxi over to the shops and beach. You can rent a beach lounger and umbrella. Also can walk the many shops behind the beachfront.

We usually tip the bartender if we set down for awhile at the bar and experiment with the drinks. We also always tip the porter.

  9. Yes, they have a pizza place. Its not called sorrento's. I didnt try any pizza on the enchantment. It didn't look good.

The only thing i can compare it to is the sorrentos on the oasis class. In my opinion its not even close.

  10. When we did a b2b on allure. Our room stewart suggested. We walk around check out the different suites. Between the two legs of our cruise. We did this the morning of disembarkment.

When everyone else was leaving and had to be out of their rooms. We roamed the hallways and checked out the suites. My favorite was the aqua suites even over the loft suites.

  11. We have done a b2b on allure before. I would just call rci and tell them. You want the same room on a b2b. They will be able to find rooms available for both legs. We had the same room, which was great no packing.

Like others have said, you will get instructions the day before and will meet as a group on disembarkment day. They will lead you as a group(all b2b people) and right back on. Your group will be the first persons on the boat. They also treated our group to a free Giovanni lunch.

Also since we were b2b we were allowed back in rooms, not the normal 1:30

  12. We were just on the enchantment. The porters have their own line for customs. So, yes its faster.

It doesnt matter if you do self disembarkment or check your bags. You can use the porters in the customs area. Where all the bags are setting.

It's also a good idea to be familiar with how your airline works. Do you precheck in. Do you download boarding pass to phone. If dont pre check and print boarding pass yourself. You may have to stand in a very long line. Then mco tsa is very slow and long. It just took us two hours to get to our gate.

But I think a noon flight is very do able. As long, as you dont have major hiccups.

  13. I would suspect it isn't free to keep the kids and adults from wasting it. I could imagine the mess they would have if it was free.

My son bought some on the allure and tipped the bartender. After that it was free the rest of the night. So tipping does help on the ship
