  1. If you are using a wifi based texting app. Like imessenger, which is the default app for texting on iphones. You will be able to text other iPhones like normal. If you are texting someone that has android phone and of coarse they aren't using imessenger. It won't work without cellular data. Which is a sms based text.

Which is why a text from iPhone to an android phone is green when using wifi based imessenger. If are wanting to text an android to iPhone while you are on the ship. Both people have to be using any third party wifi based app. There many out there for free.

Like others have posted. You need to put your phone in airplane mode. So don't get cellular data charges. Then you can turn your wifi back on, while in airplane mode.

  2. Rent a car. The car rental company picks you up at the pier, short drive to car rental company. $40- 50.00 for a SUV including tax, plus a few gallons of gas. We have done this a few times. With 2 adults and 2 teenage boys with alot of luggage - 4 carry ons and 4 suitcases and also with just 2 adults.

You can either walk off with your luggage or request an earlier time. If the rental car vans are not there for pickup and quick call and they come with in 10 minutes.

I agree, rent a car. It will be cheaper and better than taking the shuttle. The drive is normally less than a hour. Then add about 1/2 hour for picking up the rental car. If you carry your own luggage of the ship. You should be off the ship by 8am and at the airport by 930am

  3. If your kids are old enough to be "out and about" on their own, they are old enough to adhere to your spending rules! Tell them their limit...if they don't abide by it...take their seapass, and make them stay with you.

  4. As Bob said, its usually a quick process. I would suggest you not show up until after 11:30am. They usually don't allow people on the ship until around 11:00am. So if you show up before 11 with your kids. You will have to wait after check-in, until the ship is clear of people from previous cruise.

Also the rooms usually aren't ready until about 1:00pm or 1:30pm. So that is another thing to consider. If you rather wait until 1pm to check in at the cruise terminal.

  5. Various discounts showed up before our cruise, including two devices for one, four for two, and 30% discount. In any case what counts is the number you have in use simultaneously. Just because you have three devices you don't have to buy coverage for all three. They claim they log you off after three hours of non-use but we didn't see that. In our case logging on to a new device logged us off the first one. I think others have reported you have to manually log off to the first.

Easiest way to log off was to disconnect from the network (on either the phone or PC wireless page).

That was the case with us on the Allure also, couple months ago. Or you could also manually log off, like others have said.

  6. Hi all

Sorry if this has been brought up before!

We get a free select package with our cruise. If we were to "upgrade" onboard would we have to pay the full price of the new package or the difference? Also does anyone known if Amaretto is served onboard and whether that will be included in the ultimate package.

We will be sailing on Brilliance out of Barcelona.

    Thanks

The Amaretto is even included with the premium package. Which is cheaper than the Ultimate package. Just something to think about.
