This makes me so happy the Imagination is being done 2 weeks prior to our cruise!!
Anyone know if the Liberty got all of that done yet or was it done when 2.0 happened as well as any of the newer ships or ships with 2.0?
The Liberty did not receive the added redundancies.
They didn't start adding the added redundancies to the ships until after the Triumph incident.
The Sunshine and Triumph are the only two ships with all of the redundancies. The Breeze has all except a 2nd emergency generator which she is receiving soon.

We are in the planning stages of a family cruise for Jan or Feb 2015 and would be interested in the Freedom because of the itinerary. I am not all that familiar with what the 2.0 upgrades are, so possibly someone can enlighten me on that. I'm assuming it would include Guy's, or am I incorrect on that. Since we would be taking our grandchildren, the WaterWorks and Skycourse would be of interest to them. I know these are just rumors, but would be curious to know if the WaterWorks would be similar to that of Breeze, Dream or Sunshine or just an updated larger slide. I guess just have to stayed glued to these boards and wait and see. Hopefully, something will be made official soon.
The 2.0 upgrades do include Guy's Burgers. But the Skycourse and the WaterWorks are just upgrades. If the Freedom does in fact get a WaterWorks park added, it should be somewhat similar to the ships that have one.

Unfortunately the dry dock is not until 2/12/15 - 2/26/15.

What are these added redundancies everyone keeps mentioning? I am interested in the Imagination DryDock
Here is the press release about the extra safety features they are adding to their ships.

When the Sunshine was upgraded she received a 3 deck Serenity.

Is there a certain day of the week that news is released by Carnival or is it random? I keep checking anxiously daily hoping for some news.
I have noticed that most of the time Carnival announces their major news on Thursdays, but they have made announcements other days of the week as well.
-
I have a question for you Tenured Carnival cruisers. When the dream class was announced, was it announced they planned to build three or was the first one announced the later down the road the announce plans to build two more?
I know the Breeze was announced right after the Dream debuted.
I want to say the Dream and the Magic were announced at the same time, but I may be wrong.

Thanks for posting the link!

I say all the speciality restaurants will have outdoor seating like on ncl breakaway. I saw an interview with kevin Sheehan where he was talking how Micky arison called him and said that was a great idea.
I didn't see that interview. Would you mind posting a link?

It looks like it does lani deck ( deck 5) what makes me think this may be the 2016 design. Is it does have a carnival feel. It even has a water works aft on the top deck and a big screen.
Hopefully this new design is the 2016 ship. Carnival definitely needs a new design and not one that is just based off the Destiny.

Deck 5 aft on the model supports the deck 5 half outside, half under cover pool. There is clearly an overhang on deck 5 aft on that model.
Regardless of the accuracy of the model, I think there is a very strong likelihood that the new class of ship will have a lanai like the Dream class. Both the Red Frog Pub and the Ocean Plaza almost require a lanai to reach their full effect (though anyone who has been on both the Sunshine and a Dream class ship can correct me on that). Based on concepts from Breakaway, we can probably expect specialty restaurants on deck 5 to have some outdoor seating.
As far as the exposed upper decks, it does look like there are two wells in the structure for upper deck pools. I do hope the layout is just a concept and that they can move things around-- an aft pool like the Dream class or the Splendor would be a much nicer use of space compared to putting the waterworks aft; bonus points awarded if you just moved the entire serenity deck aft and made the aft lido pool adults only. Also, they have to fit a ropes course somewhere on those upper decks.
The Ocean Plaza and Red Frog Pub on the Sunshine doesn't have any outdoor seating. But I agree they are both better with the outdoor seating.

So this new ship is going to have a space ratio of 26.47? No thanks.
5,100 people must be the full occupancy. The double occupancy is supposed to be 4,000 which would make the space ratio 33.75 which is still tight.

Does anyone remember what the Spirit's itineraries were when she left? I'm guessing a PC transit to Long Beach, a route to Hawaii, then a long cruise through the South Pacific to Australia.
Cruise 1: Vancouver to Honolulu
Cruise 2: Honolulu to Sydney

Can't wait to see your review. I cruised to Alaska a few years ago and loved it! Your review may bring back some memories!!!

I can't believe how small the balconies are either. The NCL Breakaway's balconies are pretty small as well so hopefully this is not a new trend.

I just booked a cruise on this boat for the week of March 15th, 2014 ... I don't know if this is entirely correct. Where are you getting this information from?
This thread is about a year old so it is possible that the drydock time has been changed or postponed.

Your model is awesome!! Can't wait to see more pictures.

For those interested the origin of the "Royal Promenade" started on a ferry, Sllja Serenade, built at Masa Yards, Turku, Finland.
Color Line also has ships with a promenade similar to the Royal Promenade.

Great review!! Thanks for posting. Can't wait for the next one!
-
Interesting... I thought they said there wouldn't be one?
-
Do you think they'll be the same itineraries that are out now?
I would think so. There may be a few changes but I expect them to be mostly the same.

Gambee,
Love this picture! It was like you superimposed yourself on the back drop to add to the mystery of Gambee. Perhaps someday we will see you. (like Charlie from Charlie's Angels). It also is so appropriate that it is the photo gallery. Planned or by accident, I think it is neat.
1 question since I have not sailed NCL prior to free style. Are the MDR's open seating (come when you want) or the traditional assigned seating's with early & late?
Love the review so far. Keep it up, we thank you for your efforts. Have a fun day at work
Bill
The dining rooms are open seating.

Royal Caribbean has the following names trademarked:
Ovation of the Seas
Passion of the Seas
Pulse of the Seas
Vantage of the Seas
So I would think that Quantum 3 and Oasis 3 will receive one of those names.

Great review so far!! I can't wait for more!!
I cruised on the Dream a few years ago and loved her. It is great to see pictures of her again!

Me too! I don't know why Royal Caribbean is waiting so long to release them.
