  1. We are in the planning stages of a family cruise for Jan or Feb 2015 and would be interested in the Freedom because of the itinerary. I am not all that familiar with what the 2.0 upgrades are, so possibly someone can enlighten me on that. I'm assuming it would include Guy's, or am I incorrect on that. Since we would be taking our grandchildren, the WaterWorks and Skycourse would be of interest to them. I know these are just rumors, but would be curious to know if the WaterWorks would be similar to that of Breeze, Dream or Sunshine or just an updated larger slide. I guess just have to stayed glued to these boards and wait and see. Hopefully, something will be made official soon.

The 2.0 upgrades do include Guy's Burgers. But the Skycourse and the WaterWorks are just upgrades. If the Freedom does in fact get a WaterWorks park added, it should be somewhat similar to the ships that have one.

  2. Is there a certain day of the week that news is released by Carnival or is it random? I keep checking anxiously daily hoping for some news.

I have noticed that most of the time Carnival announces their major news on Thursdays, but they have made announcements other days of the week as well.

  3. I have a question for you Tenured Carnival cruisers. When the dream class was announced, was it announced they planned to build three or was the first one announced the later down the road the announce plans to build two more?

I know the Breeze was announced right after the Dream debuted.

I want to say the Dream and the Magic were announced at the same time, but I may be wrong.

  4. It looks like it does lani deck ( deck 5) what makes me think this may be the 2016 design. Is it does have a carnival feel. It even has a water works aft on the top deck and a big screen.

Hopefully this new design is the 2016 ship. Carnival definitely needs a new design and not one that is just based off the Destiny.

  5. Deck 5 aft on the model supports the deck 5 half outside, half under cover pool. There is clearly an overhang on deck 5 aft on that model.

Regardless of the accuracy of the model, I think there is a very strong likelihood that the new class of ship will have a lanai like the Dream class. Both the Red Frog Pub and the Ocean Plaza almost require a lanai to reach their full effect (though anyone who has been on both the Sunshine and a Dream class ship can correct me on that). Based on concepts from Breakaway, we can probably expect specialty restaurants on deck 5 to have some outdoor seating.

As far as the exposed upper decks, it does look like there are two wells in the structure for upper deck pools. I do hope the layout is just a concept and that they can move things around-- an aft pool like the Dream class or the Splendor would be a much nicer use of space compared to putting the waterworks aft; bonus points awarded if you just moved the entire serenity deck aft and made the aft lido pool adults only. Also, they have to fit a ropes course somewhere on those upper decks.

The Ocean Plaza and Red Frog Pub on the Sunshine doesn't have any outdoor seating. But I agree they are both better with the outdoor seating.

  6. Gambee,

Love this picture! It was like you superimposed yourself on the back drop to add to the mystery of Gambee. Perhaps someday we will see you. (like Charlie from Charlie's Angels). It also is so appropriate that it is the photo gallery. Planned or by accident, I think it is neat.

1 question since I have not sailed NCL prior to free style. Are the MDR's open seating (come when you want) or the traditional assigned seating's with early & late?

Love the review so far. Keep it up, we thank you for your efforts. Have a fun day at work

    Bill

The dining rooms are open seating.

  7. lol except for the ships that dont have a serenity area. I know conquest and triumph dont have one. It says above Freedom also does not.

A lot of people are hoping they add one to triumph in dry dock.

I thought the Freedom had a Serenity deck?

EDIT: Just checked the deck plans and she does

I find it strange that they didn't add a Serenity deck to the Conquest because she is one of the only ships without one. If they do in fact add a Serenity deck to the Triumph I think the Conquest will be the only ship without one.
