1. Hi,

I have scrolled through the posts and if I fly into IAH airport it sounds like I am probably going to spend 100 to get from the airport to the hotel right near the port. I didn't realize that the airport and port were that far apart. A nice person on my roll call suggested Uber so I am going to check into that and see if its any cheaper. I even checked into renting a car for 1 day at the airport and dropping it off by the port but they charge an extra 100 for dropping it off at another location.

Thank you

Try galveston express $25.00 each person one way

I always have a good time at the Meet & Mingle get together.

People need to be willing to Talk and sometimes not be so reserved

I am normally very active on our roll calls trying to make it a fun learning experience for everyone. Especially trying to help new cruisers who sometimes have questions.

I like to see who has been on the roll calls. We now have friends all over the country that we still stay in touch with.

Have a great time That's all that counts

3. I've never sailed on RC but we've been on a reasonable amount of Princess ships. Do you guys mostly book direct with RC? Or are you using TAs as a go between? There are 3 or 4 couples that are looking to cruise with us next year and I'm trying to figure out the optimal strategy while trying out RC for the first time. Any advice or tips is appreciated.

I used to book direct with RC but now I have changed to booking with a TA where we always get extra OBC. and paid gratuities .

I always know ahead of time what cabin I want or category.

You also can book your own with RC and then transfer the reservation to a TA

to get the extra perks. you have 60 days to transfer.

4. While I do read the Reviews I don´t buy into most of them. Most Reviews are way too subjective. I´ve read horrible Reviews about Cruises I´ve been on and I´ve not even remotely shared the opinions.

I´ve also been reading Food complaints for as Long as I´m a member on CC, yet I´ve always been satisfied with the Food.

Of course nobody likes to spend more Money than needed, but everything has a higher Price today than a year or two ago and no stuff has no upgraded Quality coming with it. I don´t expect the Price of a vacation to stay the same.

So far I´m fine with the product for the Price paid. Each of us will rate this individually, but I´m sure not starting to complain just because others write bad Reviews. I will only let my own experience influence my decision and I always go with the anticipation of havin a great time and not with a mind set by bad Reviews from others.

Well said I agree with you !!

5. Several people have contacted private tour companies (the ones who would be at the docks) for St Kitts and the response was that they are not allowed to book tours when there is a cruiseship in port. Now, possibly this is limited to booking before arrival...trying to get the low down. I would rather pre book than take my chances on the dock with 11 people in our group.

Sent from my KFTHWI using Forums mobile app

We booked our own tour this past February With Thenford tour

worked out very well.

6. Cabin 7146 is a good choice

We have been on Allure 2 times once in a cabin similar to your choice

we liked deck 7 because you will be close to Central park deck 8 and also Boardwalk deck 6. you will also be close enough to stairs and elevator.

Our other trip we did Central park Balcony and this January we have last cabin on the Boardwalk. we also booked 2017 ocean balcony deck 7 again.

We have preferred the port side because on the cruises we were on that side most often was dockside at the ports. But you never know for sure how the ship will dock.

7. Looks to me some people are just plain cheap. They don't want to tip and only do because it is automatic. Now that the cruise line is in charge of collecting tips from those that in the past did not gave anything.
I like the old way of tipping. We now pre pay tips and also still give envelopes to those that have been nice and provided nice service. We always used to give more than what they now charge. We don't drink so don't get involved with bar tips.

Some might call it a bribe but at some Las Vegas show we still tip upfront to the man at the door and receive an upgraded seat at the show.
8. You will still be able to book your own shore excursions, dining and entertainment reservations.

You cannot call for price drops, make payments or change cabins.

I often Book my own cruise then transfer the reservation to a TA and receive extra OBC. I have been able to change cabins and recieve price drops thru the TA. It has work out great for us. I used to keep it all on my own I don't like losing control but this has worked great.

For me the Meet & Mingle is a time set aside, I hope to meet the people that have posted on the board for the build up and excitement of the cruise.

I enjoy meeting people from around our country and those from other countries

I like to put the name and face together. Some people are just a bit shy and it's nice to be able to connect with them.

Paulette you started a nice conversation piece here. I look forward to meeting you at our Meet & Mingle in only 7 Day's

10. If the pools are such a problem for the parents with young kids maybe

the cruise lines should just get rid of the kiddie pools.

I see far to many parents not taking care of their kids, on cruises we have been on.

We are watching our grand kids at home this weekend ages 3 and 5 and even at home we need to watch them all the time. Not easy but today it is our responsibility.

11. I made my reservations for the Allure shows. When I get on board will I receive a summary of the shows and times (to confirm I have them) or will it be up to me to just show up. Will there be tickets etc.:)

They check your sea pass card when you enter the show. your reservation is on the card.

You can review all your shows and any excursions on your TV it will all be there.

also your account info will be posted as far as your spending. Very nice system.

12. I often wonder how many answers are truthful. I have seen three (small sample) and in those...and from the comments of others it applies to a lot more...many of the questions are the same;

The last question posed to the women has always been the same "Most exciting/interesting place you have made whoopi?" You can just make up something interesting for that one.

They have also always asked a multiple choice question about the love life...you can just agree to select answer D

They have always asked the men what they would change (if they had the power) about their wife...make one bigger and one smaller.

They have always asked for the most annoying habit...just pick one and use it regardless of who is asked.

They usually ask about 1st date...even if you cannot remember, make something up.

That will get you to match at least three...maybe even five...of the six questions. Very likely you win and don't have to reveal the truth.

Does not look fun if all the answers are pre planned. If you don't want to have fun just don't Play the game.

Not good advice
