  1. Yes, I think I'd go up to $500 total on Oasis/Allure to go from a D to a JS.

Bob I did a change to cabin number 7596 for $150 extra. cabin only ran $2160 for two including taxes and received prepaid gratuities plus $100.00 OBC and dinner for 2, I thought that was a great deal.

If I see a great deal on a JS I will change to that

The price for a D-1 the next week is $1300 more than I paid

  2. My question is about Allure We booked a D8 cabin now a D4 Cabin is $800 less than a D8 I though the lower number D cabins were normally more than the high numbers which do you normally get. We are sailing Sept 7th so I don't think I can get the new price cabin although we only paid $200.00 more than the D4 cabin price now. and the D8 is about $600.00 more than we paid.

If the JS price comes down I might try then it would cost me about $1,000 more than I already paid. Would you do a JS if it was $500.00 more

    Is a D-1 Worth More ?

  3. A suggestion with respect to smoking, firstly want to state that I am a smoker and abide by the policy and smoke in the designated areas.

And fully understand and appreciate the concerns for the non-smokers.

RC could dedicate a bar on the ship that is fully enclosed, with a similar entry system like to the CL or DL. Have the room fully equipped with an extraction system and advertise that this bar is for smokers and those who do not mind the smoke.

Not saying you will need to get sea pass card activated so ONLY smokers can enter, but this would eliminate the issues of smoke drifting into non smoking areas.

RC have tried non-smoking nights in the Casino, and these were quickly stopped.

Probably due to a significant revenue drop.

People gamble, people drink, people smoke, not saying all go hand in hand

But people choose to do what they enjoy doing on a cruise that they have paid for with their hard working cash.

Do people moan about Cellphones? Maybe there should be a no Cellphone area on the ship as well.. YOUR on VACATION ... Let it go for a week or so!

    Or ban Cellphones completely!!

Await the wrath on this one :)

Eventually I see RC will stop smoking completely, and that is their choice, and for those who smoke, will then be their choice as to whether they sail RC

Or try another cruise line that do still allow smoking.

The Casino has a designated non- smoking area, no smoking on balconies, and pretty much smoking is now restricted to some of the casino, Deck 4 starboard side and pool deck one side of ship.

RC have listened and taken action.

Are employees also going to be hired as Non-smokers? That would be interesting,

    But for a later discussion.

So for all the people that like to Gamble Smoke, Drink. From all the complaints looks like Disney is the way to go, for those who have no vices.

Then you'll moan about the kids!

IMHO why let others bother you, it's your cruise, your money, you worked hard for your vacation, as did the thousands of others on a cruise.

Not everyone is going to be pleased 100%. We do not live in a perfect world.

Take the rough with the smooth, make sure your glass is always 1/2 full, and look on the bright side of life.. YOU ARE ON a CRUISE.

Some will never have the opportunity.

Excellent post !!! I used to smoke But still think smokers should be able to have an indoor place to go. No one is 100% able to always have every area of the ship their way and why should they.

  4. Recently returned from a 13 night cruise to Iceland on Adventure of seas.

The cruise itself was good except for the new change to the smoking policy we were not aware of when booking the cruise.

Apparently this policy has been applied to all Voyager and freedom class ships.

The change itself theoretically seems to be a change to allow smokers an inside space to now smoke since they have lost the ability to smoke on their balconies.

RCI have introduced smoking in the casino, now the problem, for those guests who don't smoke or have problems with breathing smoke. The layout of the voyager and freedom class ships with the casino having the spiral staircase leading to the royal promenade acts as a chimney for the smoke from the casino. directly next to this stair exit are two of the most popular bars, we found this very difficult o frequent these bars when the casino was open and smoke was dissipating out of the stair well and even spreading as far as the promenade café.

The casino also has large open doors at either end and the smoke bellowed out into the Schooner to such an extent that we never used this bar the smell was just too much. My Wife suffers severe migraines and cigarette smoke is one of the triggers (these migraines can last several days)

I find it hard to believe that RCI have not realised this would happen with this layout of ship with large open spaces.

There were not that many smokers in the Casino and the smoke travelling outside was very bad, I can only imagine what it would be like when the ship has a lot of smokers on board.

How can RCI force their casino workers to work in smoke filled environments for long hours, I though the laws had changed to not allow this?

The consequences of this new policy are:

    We never used the casino

we spent a lot less money on drinks due to the loss of venues

Are seriously considering alternative cruise lines that do not have inside smoking.

I personally would have preferred to let the smokers smoke on their balconies and NOT allow smoking in the public spaces inside the ship.

    What do other think?

I no Longer smoke but I do get sick of how so many "not all" none smokers want it Only their way all the time. It is a large ship do you expect to control everything to your liking. You must work for the government they also like to control everything.

  5. Was in 11329 last January and it was a wonderful cabin. Viewed the aqua show from the balcony and it was very enjoyable. The "secret balcony" is right outside the door and many times we had it to ourselves. I would not hesitate to book this cabin again.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on 11329 looking forward to it.

  6. I booked cabin 11329 for January 2016, Hope it works out nice, We have not yet sailed on the 2 big ships, By the time that cruise comes around I should have a good idea of the 3 different types of locations. I have now booked Boardwalk, Central Park, and ocean balcony. but we don't start on our big ship journey until September.

Hope your cabin choice works out great !!!!

  7. I will cruise any time . The ships will not go into a hurricane they might alter coarse.

We are set up for this Sept. not worried about the weather. We all know the unexpected can happen but not to worry. We prefer winter months only because our weather in Minnesota dictates that.

  8. I like to get up 5 to 5:30 am. Very quite time around the ship, I get coffee go sit with the early rising smokers, although I no longer smoke they are great people to be with and talk to. then it is fun to watch the folks try and find pool chairs, so they can leave and come back who knows when. I never get a pool chair I can't sit still in the pool area to need to save a chair. then around 8AM get coffee for my wife and be sure she is getting started for the day. I love morning time on the ship.

  9. I was able to book January and February on Spirit air from Minneapolis to Fort Myers for $68.00 one way then I bought the big front seats for $60.00

only two seats in row instead of 3 with more leg room these are direct flights we will rent a car and drive to fort Lauderdale We are lucky we have a place to stay in Fort Myers. then when we get off ship we will go back to fort Myers stay for 4 days then back home. Two week vacation instead of 1 and total about the same cost and less hassle with Fort Lauderdale busy airport.

  10. WE miss the Violins on a nightly basis in the MDR that they always had years ago. I think what they have done is to hold down the overall price of a cruise so they can get a larger audience of people to fill all the cabins that are available at sea. We used to like the special treatment that a cruise provided but also like the affordability that a cruise does provide.

We have been on 5 cruise lines and like to see the variety.

  11. We were on Deck 11 on the Allure and the noise from the pool (screaming kids' date=' etc.) during the day was horrible. We noticed it a lot because we use our cabin during the day a lot to relax, nap, etc. We couldn't do any of that in that cabin. Night time was no problem, but during the day, it was loud.[/size']

Thanks for the comments I have not changed yet still looking for comments

Is it best to be more forward to stay away from the kids pool area Ship motion does not bother us we have stayed forward many times. I don't mind pool area noise and music but don't enjoy screaming kids.

  12. I was just wondering if anybody has stayed in stateroom numbers 14635. It is next to a big void don't know what it is or if the stateroom will be loud. I appreciate any info.

I have the same cabin booked for January wonder if I should make a change? it is category C1, Any suggestions which central park deck would be best ?

I booked 3 cruises on Oasis class one central park, one Boardwalk, and one ocean Balcony.

  13. Interesting reading this tread !! I think all jobs have pluses and minuses

It always seems that as you look at what someone else does for work we don't always see the real picture. I think the biggest problem today is that most people think poor me.

Not all pay is equal and it never will be. but we all have choices to go on a career path you and only you choose. Be happy with what you have and be thankful for it. I am now retired so I can only look back at the choices I made

not all were the right ones but they are what are now going forward we still have choices.
