  1. Thanks to everyone for your replies. I called Princess about an hour ago and my call was immediately answered by an agent. The cancellation process could not have been easier. I had used 2 FCDs and those were immediately restored to my account. I received the email cancellation while on the phone. I did have 2 prior Princess Vacation Planners and both had the same disease...inability to answer phone messages/calls/texts over multiple weeks. It seems to me that there is little to no oversight of this group. I am done with that process. It is easier to book yourself or use a trusted agent if you can find one
  2. When I send out laundry I take a pix of the order form and the bag....just in case
  3. This coming week I need to cancel a cruise that we booked for next March. Is it better to do this on the chat feature or to call on the phone? I used to FCDs for hubby and I when I booked....I assume that I will get those back? I see so many issues about communication here that it's made me leery about doing this......thank in advance for any suggestions!
  4. The other item that I always carry is Shout Wipes. I use these when travelling to immediately treat a stain so it doesn't set. These wipes work terrific and I learned to use them when I travelled for work. There are always a few tucked into my handbag. They have also been used to rescue strangers in restaurants that have dropped food/drinks and they always get a smile
  5. I took pods with me on our Hawaiian cruise in March. Prior experience is that the vending machines empty quickly and are not refilled all that quickly. I take my Bounce with me too. I don't want the hassel of going down to customer service for any of that stuff. I also purchase more tokens at the beginning of the cruise for the same reason
  6. You are welcome! I have noticed on several cruises that the machines and tokens work well in the first few days and then there is a shortage of supplies and tokens that work FWIW
  7. Yes.the tokens are also used to purchase the products in the laundry room. You can get free tokens from the concierge lounge or your room steward on Royal class ships........not sur ehow this is handled on other class ships. Easy to bring your own pods and laundry sheets as well
  8. TCTX...here's a good tip for you When you go to use your tokens on the machines on the Royal, they only need one token Trouble is...there are 4-5 token slots on each machine and you won't know which slot to use One of the slots has a small notch near the end of it and that is the one to use!!!!
  9. There are only concierge lounges on the Royal class ships AFAIK
  10. We recently cruised on the Royal in a Penthouse suite. This was our first suite on Princess so we really did not know what to expect. We were in R603 so just a few doors down from the lounge and the laundry. I went into the lounge to get a coffee about 11:30 AM shortly after boarding. Carmen the concierge was there and she introduced herself and gave us an over view of the coming 2 weeks. She handled our specialty reservations for that night and for all other nites as well. She gave us free laundry tokens as I like to do certain clothes that I don't want to send out.She also held various special evenings with get togethers, complimentary drinks, food and entertainment (mostly Hawaii). We wanted to cancel one Hawaiian tour that we had purchased and she did that for us and got us our money back. She also got us on another tour that we decided to do.Basically, she saved us multiple trips to the service desk for questions and issues. She even handled a bill on our account that was incorrect. This concierge service was invaluable to us as it saved us time and aggravation. We provided a tip at the end of the cruise to thank her. It seemed like she was in the lounge from 10 AM on for the day and evening
  11. On the day of your embarkation go directly to the Crown grill You will be able to make a reservation directly at that time
  12. Are you comfortable using uber? It is the best bet .....but....there can be issues with snarls of cars, taxis, busses and everything else at your disembark area. I would use the "Early Walk Off" feature for this morning and you get put into the fist group to leave the ship. This means you take your own bags...if you are OK with that it usually happens 6:30 to 7:00. If you have Global ID you can get through customs pretty quickly and then disembark. The easiest thing is to get into a cab as there is always scores of them entering the area...but...this is not the cheapest choice...only you can decide which choice you are comfortable with Good luck!
  13. When you arrive at the bidding page, the "meter" that is displayed is set at the lowest possible bid. When I bid for an upgrade, I went over by $500 but that was for a suite for 2 weeks. We did get the upgrade about 2 weeks prior to sailing. Family member just bid $40.00 on an Alaska cruise for next week and his bid was accepted quickly...I believe the same day. He went from an inside to an oceanview
  14. Before my retirement I used to travel weekly across the country. My best buddy on trips quickly became large binder clips. These are great for curtains and shades that don't block all the light, blankets that are too short or that fall off the bed, keeping my towel on a lounge chair in the wind, hanging up clothes to dry, and a million other tasks...
  15. Well, yes and no...sorry... There was no waiting at all when we were in port but in the 2 ports that we used tenders, we got into tenders as part of an early tour so we had priority for that reason, not because of our status. This won't be your problem but those tenders get very warm inside when you are waiting for them to fill up! Good luck with the suite if you decide to do it but watch out.....it's very addictive!!! Don't bother making dinner reservations for your free specialty restaurants... the concierge does that....she does everything! It was also nice being close to the laundry room...I sent out a lot for the "free" laundry but some of my more delicate clothes I like to wash myself so that was handy too
  16. We just did a 15 day Hawaii cruise on the Royal in early April. We did have a minisuite but then when I saw the upgrade initiative offered I made a bid and it was accepted for a suite. I wanted R603 and that's what we got. This suite was wonderful and the extra room and balcony size was very much appreciated. I wanted the proximity to the concierge lounge because I like to have a coffee early. The lounge is open 24 hours and it always has coffee. The bed was very comfortable and there's lots of closet and drawer space. We really enjoyed the balcony ( we didn't find it too narrow) and the size was wonderful compared to the minisuites. The first perk that we enjoyed was the concierge person. We met her on the first day and she explained everything and was helpful with dinner reservations. After that she was such a timesaver.....any issue and she can take care of it - no more trips to the service desk...she cancelled tours for us, booked new tours, made dinner reservations and a host of other items. In the future, we will probably always book a suite as we are now spoiled! The breakfast at Sabatini's was great...very excellent service. We ate in the club class dining and that was also very good with very good service. Please ask if you have questions
  17. besides the euro adaptor for under the bed...you may also want a multiplug that will allow you to plug in more than one thing at that point
  18. Are you on one of the Royal class ships that has a concierge lounge on Riviera deck? If yes, then let the concierge person take care of all of that and more......excursions, questions, laundry tokens, reservations.........they do it all!!
  19. I would like to save some time for anyone who will use the laundry. This is based on 8 - 10 recent cruises and my experiences. There are almost zero written instructions in the laundry rooms that I have been in and you can waste a lot of time trying to figure it out 1.) You need tokens for the washer and the dryer and these are sold in every laundry on each floor and you purchase them by using your medallion 2.) Even though there are 4-5 slots on the washer/dryer for the tokens you only need one token per load 3.) The one token can only go in the token slot that has a little notch below the opening whether it is the washer or the dryer 4.) The token machines are frequently broken/jammed. If you find the token machine to be working buy the tokens that you will need for the whole cruise Good luck and I hope that I saved you some time
  20. yes I am referring to an outlet . We have found that all of the cabins that we have used on Princess have had some sort of outlet either under the bed or behind the bed. We have not been in a suite so I am trying to find out if the same exists in a suite
  21. Do you know if the Enchanted has these plugs under the beds in a suite??
  22. I am looking for confirmation that there is either a US plug or European Plug behind or under the bed in an aft suite on the Royal Class ships. We have always found them in minisuites but not sure about the suites in the Royal Class ships? Anyone have first hand knowledge of this? Thanks in advance
  23. I love my K cups at home and that's all I drink except for a rare DD if travelling. I purchased a coffee card (one of the last ones) for my current cruise like I always do. So, here I am on the Royal and the only decent cup I can find is in Sabatini's.....what happened? I used to be able to tolerate the coffee at the IC but it really tastes awful to me now. I guess my next step is to bring instant coffee with me
