Actually it seems that you might be the one reading only partial posts, just saying.

You made some great points. I've never even considered that there could have been something left behind in the cabin that I just moved into.

My guess would be that the ship did not sell as well as RCI would have liked and at the prices that they wanted. So they had to start selling segments and, even then, people could buy all 4 segments for much less than those who bought the WC in its entirety. It could well be that it would be better financially in the long run for RCI to use the ship to ferry people between Miami and Coco Cay. Only RCI knows the answer. I can also imagine that the logistics of entering so many different countries is a nightmare compared to embarking a typical Caribbean cruise.

I don't think RCI suffers any penalties for sailing into a port with an iron or bottle of booze aboard. They seem to have their reasons for taking such a hard stand on this matter don't you think?

Lol, pretty amazing how a question about a Royal up bid turned into this conversation. However, again, no one on that ship has any obligation to provide any answers to anything, so no real harm. Hopefully this thread can turn into how things are going on the cruise if any of those folks on Serenade would like to provide some insight. I'd like to see @island lady's perspective since she and I have interacted on these boards for a long time.

I'm also pretty sure not many people are versed on the CBD laws of destination countries. I give the cruise lines the benefit of the doubt on this issue.

I think it a bit natural to be curious about what people who divest of everything for something that has a finite time span will eventually do when it ends. I also think it natural to look at it from the perspective of one's own circumstances and values. Certainly no one on that cruise has any obligation to satisfy that curiosity.

Their ship... their rules I guess. Obviously they can't have someone arrested, as you claimed, if they did nothing illegal in the jurisdiction of the ship's location.
-
I see it as the severity of the cruise line response is proportional to the importance of the issue to them. RCI makes their policy on illegal drugs pretty clear. If someone is stupid enough to test the system and they get caught oh well.
-
And what about if that ship is heading to a port where the substances are illegal? When you vacation on something that moves the issue becomes more complicated than the laws of the embarkation location.

The MDR provides quiet family time? I remember, back to when we actually used the MDR, that is was noisy, dinner was interrupted by photographers, and crew singing and parading around the room. The WJ is not as quiet as it used to be as it seems like more and more people are giving up the MDR but if you go a bit later in the evening I find it quite nice.

Double that an it is for an OV cabin. Doesn't seen overly inexpensive to me. -
If a toilet goes long enough without flushing eventually the water in the bowl, not the tank, will become depleted. When there is no water in the bowl sewer gasses can come up through the piping. The same thing can happen with drains in sinks and it stinks. This is why their drainage has traps under them and not a straight shot out of your house. The water in the trap blocks the gasses.
