  1. Yes, the cruise lines like the American tipping system. They just don't like American labor laws or tax system. I wish I had the ability to piecemeal a system like they do.
  2. Tell your steward that you only want evening service and your problem will be solved.
  3. Plenty of us have been around long enough to know what a "trial" of something on an RCI ship means. If this was a Covid related issue the company would have been more than happy to wave a banner blaming the virus. Heck, I'm surprised they didn't try to pin this on this on Covid anyway.
  4. Connecting with some bartenders makes the experience so much better than just obtaining a drink. I hope I am able to connect again on Odyssey like I did on my last two Allure cruises.
  5. Math is not complicated. And you know what is even less complicated.... I agree to pay RCI a certain amount of money to sail on their ship and they compensate their employees. That is really simple. Then you don't even have to know how to do math.
  6. I would like the new Galveston terminal so much better if Allure was not there.😆😇
  7. Isn't that a problem with auto-gratuities though? Say your cabin steward does a really poor job. If you reduce the auto-gratuities then the entire service team suffers. No one knows why they were reduced or who caused the reduction. So the action isn't likely to be a learning experience for anyone.
  8. I had to run out to the grocery store and, for some reason, picked up some eggnog while there. I have no idea why as I rarely drink the stuff. I put some Kraken in it and now I might just spend the rest of the afternoon home with a cat on my lap.
  9. I think this is a perfect example of how a gratuity based system is far more complicated than a salary based system.🙂
  10. Two same category cabins next to each other can sell for widely different rates yet require the same amount of service. I don't really see why the gratuities should be different for the two. The present system of charging gratuity per person in the cabin seems the better way in my opinion.
  11. Those folks with the dirty undercarriage are probably the same ones who don't mind using the same towel over and over again.
  12. Right, I'm clean and don't like messes. Neither is anything that I'm embarrassed about. Never been in an Air BnB but have no issue cleaning up after myself. On a ship I guess my options are throw the used glasses out in the passageway or over the balcony railing.
