  1. Happy Friday! Thank you for the F & D and to all the regular posters. Today’s drink sounds perfect for a hot summer day. I have a bottle of Tajin seasoning in my cupboard. It has a slightly spicy, sweet, tart flavor because it contains lime and chili peppers. I’ve used to to rim a Bloody Mary and as a seasoning for chicken but my personal favorite it to sprinkle it on fruit such as a mango. Really, try it! Although I don’t usually drink soda, my favorite flavor is grapefruit. I recommend Ting (even though it’s Jamaican) although there are now several “fancy” types of grapefruit soda available. Positive thoughts to those experiencing physical and emotional pain. Cheers to those celebrating and cruising.
  2. The Mac & cheese we were served in CO on the NS was completely different than what was served in the Lido. (I’ve never had it in MDR.) The CO Mac. & cheese was baked in a ramekin, came out bubbling with a nice crispier topping, it was cheesier, less liquidy. YMMV
  3. I hope so! Was on the NS for two weeks in March. We frequently ordered the Beecher's Mac and Cheese as a side dish and I thought Seared Tuna Shaved Asparagus salad was so good I ordered it 3 times. I am looking forward to having it again on the Rotterdam in August even though it is not currently list on the CO menu I see on the app.
  4. Movies are sometimes shown in the evenings by the Lido pool but the schedule is not published in advance. There is an excellent selection of on demand movies available in your stateroom.
  5. Happy Wednesday! I prefer a kayak to a canoe. Yesterday, Katie Pumphrey was the first person to swim from Sandy Point State Park near the Bay Bridge in Annapolis up the Patapsco River to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, a distance of about 24 miles miles in a little over 14 hours. This year, after decades long clean-up efforts, the Inner Harbor was declared swimmable and fishable. She hopes her swim draws attention to the harbor’s safe waters and inspires more water recreation. (Picture taken by K Lam) Positive thoughts to those who need them. Cheers to those celebrating.
  6. Happy Catfish Day! Did you know when you posted your meme @cat shepard? An invasive species of blue catfish has become established the Chesapeake Bay watershed. They eat everything and we are particularly worried about the blue crabs. You are never supposed to put them back in the water. If you aren't going to eat them (they are good fried) you can save them for chum or use them as fertilizer in your garden. This 104 pound one was caught off Ocean City.Positive thoughts for those who need them. Cheers to those celebrating.
  7. Bar Harbor Cancels Most Cruises for 2025
  8. @Ileneilene123Make sure that your boarding pass has a bar code, usually available about three days before your cruise. It is required for boarding. Your key card will indicate Club Orange.
  9. I just checked FlightEase; there are no AA flights available for my upcoming cruise even though that would be the most efficient way to get to my destination. I am hopeful the policy will change in the near future. @GselGood luck making your connection!
  10. Me too! I had an aft cabin on deck 5 of the NS in March and it was a long trek up the stairs to the Seaview pool to enjoy my coffee in the am.
  11. @mcrcruiserYou posted this same question in April. You will have to wait until HAL publishes the schedule for the summer of 2026.
  12. I was in a mid ship deck 8 SS on the Oosterdam. You could definitely hear the carts in the morning. It did not bother me; I am an early riser. More annoying was the connecting cabin. I could hear their TV late into the night.
  13. Here is a bit of information about a Cabin Crawl for those of you who have never participated. This is a fun sea day event. We would need volunteers to allow others to view their cabin. Attendees are not required to show their cabin. It 's an opportunity to see other layouts and categories of staterooms. A selected group of staterooms is seen from those offering their cabins for viewing. These will usually include an inside, oceanview, balcony, suites, and maybe an aft stateroom or handicapped accessible cabin. A walking route is planned and small groups visit all the cabins on the crawl.
  14. Thank you for the Fleet & Daily report. I love all kinds of pizza! Detroit style pizza is made in a rectangular pan. It is believed to have originated in 1946 at Buddy’s restaurant when the pizza was baked in a pan originally used to carry auto parts. The crust comes out crisp and golden on the bottom, with a lightly fried texture that it gets from sizzling in the rendered fat that drips down from the cheese. Instead of using the "sauce, cheese, toppings" order of a typical pizza, Detroit pizzas are built in reverse. Brick cheese from Wisconsin is cubed and applied directly to the top of the dough. On top of the cheese is a sweet, thick tomato sauce, seasoned with plenty of garlic and spices. Positive thoughts to those who need them. Cheers to those celebrating!
  15. You can see why I ask for extra vegetables! Thank you for this excellent thread.
  16. @bluesplayer @LAFFNVEGAS @SilvertoGold I like the “bowls” I have had on the Rotterdam, Oosterdam and Nieuw Statendam even if they are sometimes served on a plate. The salmon is cooked. The base is varied; quinoa is my favorite but I’ve also had farro and couscous in addition to brown, jasmine and cauliflower rice. I ask for extra vegetables when I order the bowl. It is a lighter type of meal that I enjoy.
  17. Made be this update was for me? I have two hours between my international arrival and my domestic departure on Delta at JFK. After some research, it says 1 hour 40 minutes is the required time for this connection. I have the Mobile Passport Control app that has saved me time in the past. There doesn’t appear to be better flight times. 🤞
  18. I always book an aft cabin if available. Not really a fan of the Vista suites but 🤔. Wouldn’t hurt to call to see if one is still available. If it is the price should be lower. Regardless, enjoy your cruise and thank you for posting the sailaway threads.
  19. Look on the deck plan. How many people can your cabin hold? If it is more than two there is a possibility you could be moved if they need your cabin for a group of 3 or 4 passengers. I feel that this is less likely to happen on longer (more than 7 day) cruises.
  20. If you want to celebrate Garfield, today would be a good day to sit in a cool theater and enjoy the new movie. The free operating system BDS was used as a teaching tool in computer classes at my former school. I love spinach pie but find filo hard to work with. Looking forward to the recipes, maybe I’ll get some tips. Positive thoughts to those who need them. Cheers to those celebrating.
  21. Here is my booking confirmation that includes the purchase of CO. The pricing breakdown does not include a separate “line item” for CO. However, CO is listed under Special Services.
  22. See this thread to see why 2 people would get mov d from a cabin that accommodates 3.
  23. Good Morning! You may ask yourself, I would like to eliminate hate speech but how do I counter it? I used these techniques, suggested by the United Nations, in my classroom. You must take action to counter hate speech if you wish to eliminate it. Lemony Snicket (pen name for Daniel Handler) wrote the series “Unfortunate Events”. These books are extremely popular with children from ages 8-12. The series was made into a movie and a Netflix show. Without going into a long explanation of the plot, someone burnt the main characters’ house down along with the books inside of it. I believe the quote spoken by Drew is about the value of books and reading…only wicked people would destroy books/reading. Think Fahrenheit 451. A special thank you to @tupper10 and @Quartzsite Cruiser for answering my questions about the timing of my domestic connection in the Delta terminal at JFK after an international flight. One final question, after I go through customs, will I have to go through TSA check again or does everything take place with the secured area? @kochleffel thank you for the information about transportation from the port to the city center in Copenhagen. Has any used the “harbor bus” there? It is an electric ferry that is part of the mass transit system. Positive thoughts to all who need them. Cheers to those with something to celebrate.
